@GHANA2000023 sometimes the smallest one will cause problems with the rest. they don't accept weakness in prides cause it could end the pride. there's a vid on here where a lioness kills one of her cubs because he was injured and crying and couldn't follow the rest into hiding from a mad elephant. the crying was getting the elephant's attention so she killed the cub before the elephant found them. sad but it's survival.

Don't forget that Lions lived in harmony with their environment, for tens of thousands of years before we began interfering 200 years ago. @mrceebees14 He doesn't exactly have them in a "cage" in the sense of the word. He has a huge wildlife reserve with lots of space. He isn't just trying to keep them in a kennel or his backyard likethe majority of those morons on "Fatal Attractions".
@mrceebees14 Pregnant lionesses are kept away from the rest of the other lions, once the cubs are old and strong enough to be with the rest of the pride they and their mother are put back into the reserve.

He's also keeping them on a huge wildlife reserve, not in his backyard in the suburbs.
@mrceebees14 I see where you're coming from and you do have a point. But many of these animals can't just be released back in the wild willy nilly. They have to get used to hunting for their own food etc. These lions are somewhat domesticated and it was their heritage to be so.
I know they have programs out there where animals that are nearing extinction are raised in safe places and then released back into the wild, but it's a complicated process.
@orangedac I saw that episode too. She did charge him at first, so he didn't go in the cage. This clip was at the very end. I don't know if they edit the footage or not.
A lion did maul him once though, if you could call it that. It bit him in the leg. He seems to know what he's doing and the lions seem to love him, but the real problem with wild animals is that they're unpredictable. One of them could be having a bad day and then he could end up on "Fatal Attractions" on Animal Planet.
I guess in his mind the rewards outweigh the risks. I can't help envying him. Lions are such beautiful animals.

However, Tsavo clearly never intended on killing him, Kevin recognized this and has since gone in with Tsavo plenty of times. The reason Tsavo attacked him was because he was ignoring clear signs from Tsavo to stay out and keep away from him today. Kevin, showing off to his family, ignored these signs and entered anyways.

I like that lives are being saved, but what gives him or any Humans the right to put a wild animal in a cage AND takes its children away? Since when did we think we could play God? That species has existed for millions of years before man and still exists without mans intervention for the most part.

@mrceebees14 I know what you're saying, but we are taking over huge areas that once were ruled by the Lion. Don't forget that Lions lived in harmony with their environment, for tens of thousands of years before we began interfering 200 years ago. I believe that the more we interact with them, the more we can learn and sympathise with their needs. We have NO rights to that land, in my opinion, and the more we can give back to the animals in whatever way, the better.

@mrceebees14 He doesn't exactly have them in a "cage" in the sense of the word. He has a huge wildlife reserve with lots of space. He isn't just trying to keep them in a kennel or his backyard likethe majority of those morons on "Fatal Attractions".

@mrceebees14 Pregnant lionesses are kept away from the rest of the other lions, once the cubs are old and strong enough to be with the rest of the pride they and their mother are put back into the reserve.

@mrceebees14 These lions were born and raised in captivity. Kevin doesn't go out and capture wild lions or even try to interact with them the way that he does with his own lions.
He's also keeping them on a huge wildlife reserve, not in his backyard in the suburbs.

My beef is the fact Human Beings need to leave these animals alone period. Stop hunting them, stop messing with their food supply etc.

@mrceebees14 I see where you're coming from and you do have a point. But many of these animals can't just be released back in the wild willy nilly. They have to get used to hunting for their own food etc. These lions are somewhat domesticated and it was their heritage to be so.
I know they have programs out there where animals that are nearing extinction are raised in safe places and then released back into the wild, but it's a complicated process.

the lioness did not forgive him for taking her babies.
in fact she charged him and would have killed him if she was not behind bars.

@orangedac I saw that episode too. She did charge him at first, so he didn't go in the cage. This clip was at the very end. I don't know if they edit the footage or not.

A lion did maul him once though, if you could call it that. It bit him in the leg. He seems to know what he's doing and the lions seem to love him, but the real problem with wild animals is that they're unpredictable. One of them could be having a bad day and then he could end up on "Fatal Attractions" on Animal Planet.
I guess in his mind the rewards outweigh the risks. I can't help envying him. Lions are such beautiful animals.

@knals16 The lion that attacked him was named Tsavo, and to make it a short story... IT fucked him up pretty badly. However, Tsavo clearly never intended on killing him, Kevin recognized this and has since gone in with Tsavo plenty of times. The reason Tsavo attacked him was because he was ignoring clear signs from Tsavo to stay out and keep away from him today. Kevin, showing off to his family, ignored these signs and entered anyways.
