Most of my friends in Cape Town ( I am from the netherlands) were gangmembers. I am proud they are all EX-gangmembers now! :D They always say u inspire me to stay out of shit. I am always telling them everybody deserves 2nd chances and u CAN change! Most of them are trying to work now. we are all still young between 18 till 25. and we all help the community in Vrygrond now (Cape Town). I am so proud of them!

People on the flats always wanted to work but this fellow Dr Verwoerd engineered a system that did not have barbed wire like most concentation camps but kept the people inside. There were little to no jobs. And those who did work - well supply and demnd - ruffians took their mony.

Its preatty easy to call these people animals cus thats the way the were treated since birth. But it takes a real man to change his way of living and giving back to the community, especialy if you`re a ravaged gangbanger from the 28`s. Its all about compassion and human dignity.

Thank you Mark :) Everyone can change, everyone's done things that if we went back, we would try to stop. People are raised much differently than other people, and the people that criticize are the people who've never been through it and therefore would never understand. There are crazy psycho lunatic people out there that do despicable things for enjoyment. These men did those deeds to stay alive. However much it disgusts me, I have a small ounce of sympathy for them.

@TheAinokeatoo Your right, people that criticize are the people that have never been through, what ever reasons we can talk about. Thats something I always pay attention to,dont judge if you dont know, first look and pay attention to the problem, than you'll understand it.People in prison behave according to their environment, some are strong, some are not, prison is a jungle.Staying alive is the first and last thought of the day.

Questions: Do people in Canada commit rape and murder? Does Canada have prisons? Does Canada let people who commit rape and murder out of prison? Do these "animals" belong to a different species than the rest of us homo sapiens? Is rape and murder an "animal" problem or a human problem? Humans can consciously change their own behavior and attitudes after realizing that they have been wrong, while animals can't. Did these men change their behavior and attitudes for the better?

@MarvelousMarkAVP I think the problem is people don't actually think before they speak, its more just reactionary dialogue. That being said, prison should be a place of rehabilitation and redemption, not just a discarded branch society.
