@Avus95 thats nothing to do with the amount of cylinders, thats just because harley's v twin motors are junk. my 675 triple puts out more hp and torque than most the 4cylinders in the 600-650 class
This one brought tears to my eyes as both guys risked their lives big time. The snowmobile is obviously heavier but more stable, the dirt bike lighter but faster (a more dangerous jump). Mission complete men, congrats!!!
did the camera crew REALLY NOT get a zoomed out side view of this jump? Jesus Christ i hope somebody got fired. Robbie and Levi deserve better than this lol
go fuck yourself and don't waste my time by filming your TV this isnt the 1980's you dumb inbred white trash redneck, go fuck your sister next time it would be a better use of your time then filming your TV
Nice, so now you lash out... cute thing about insecure people is that: They actually feel attacked, so they become defensive, and they bite back. You know, like when you step on a snake. IF you were confident, you would've simply asked what you said wrong.
I'll gladly illustrate. First off, they have specific speeds they need to meet, the bike was actually moving faster, because like you said, it's lighter. Hp is useless here, secondly, more cylinders don't make more power.
I'll give you that is true sometimes, but not in this case. My 640cc KTM made about 65hp, more than most 1200cc V-twin harleys make.
But we are talking about a 3-cylinder 2stroke of about 900cc or more, making prob north of 130hp, compared to a single cylinder 450cc 4 stroke, making about 50hp.
Yes, inline triple 2 stroke. Most modern snowmobiles use this configuration.
It is not that outlandish of a design if you consider that the Yamaha Banshee, one of the best selling sport ATV's ever, is a parallel twin, 350cc two stroke. Simple engineering really, to think of just adding another cylinder and bumping up displacement. Lots of jet ski's use two stroke triples as well.
@Avus95 correction most modern ones use twin they are more efficient and dont have to worry about a harmonic imbalance, there are still some triples like the new yamaha's but the company's making the 2 strokes arent using triples
ITs a two stroke 600cc engine making yes just north of 130hp. Plus the sled weights over 500 pounds you cant really compare the two. One has extremely efficient wheels and the other has an awkward and bulky track. One cuts through the air and the other plows its way through. Snowmobiles rock, this was great for the sport!
@Avus95 Levi's sled is a Polaris IQR. It is a 2 cylinder 2 stroke. I don't know for certain but likeing a 800R motor(800cc) making upwards of 160HP. Not 130. Factory 800cc snowmobiles are making 150hp off the showroom floor nowadays. 600cc snowmobiles are making 120+.
@Avus95 im pretty sure that a 3 cylinder 2 stroke with about 900cc is pumping out at least 200hp my 01 800 puts out about 135 stock and the new ones are putting out 150+ from the factory but yea they make alot more power than a single cylinder dirt bike. Just helping you get your facts more straight
think you boys are forgetting these are not standard engine's and as such produce a lot more hp
hp does not equate to speed, your reference to the 1200 harley, around 72-75 hp, produces a bucket load of torque making it still one of the quickest bikes from factory
In no way is any Harley Davidson "one of the quickest bikes from factory", sorry bud.
Hardley Abelson's are slow as shit from the factory. And as I said, my single cylinder 625cc KTM made damn near the same amount of power (65hp) and would shit all over any Factory stock Harley, in acceleration, handling, braking, etc. For all that displacement, they make piss poor amounts of power. Two-valve engines SUCK. End of story.
How would you explain the fact that a heavier, less aerodynamic snowmobile flew farther than a lighter, more aerodynamic dirtbike?
HP is useless?
the snowmobile used about half of the takeoff space that the dirtbike used, to achieve nearly the same takeoff speed. The bike wasn't going much faster, if at all, than the snow machine at the respective time of takeoff. he just left later than the bike did due to a timing error.
The snowmobile could have flown farther because of a myriad of possibilities and variables, don't advocate them to power alone. You've probably never jumped a dirtbike, or you didn't learn how to do it properly. You have to hit an entry speed, the correct speed is gauged by RPM per gear. In these record jumps, entry speed is more than just important, so they build the whole "take off space" area to give the rider space to hit the right speed, to feel comfortable, they don't race to it
It's not a drag race to the ramp, and the one that goes faster doesn't win. You have to hit the right speed, and play with the throttle right in order to maintain stability throughout the entire stunt. Horsepower doesn't matter at all here, the ramps are steep enough so that you don't have to do 100Mph, the faster, the riskier. I've jumped at around 45mph and I can guarantee it's not safe at all, it's not fun either, it's scary. I'd rather jump higher, at lower speeds.
Now, it's true that the snowmobile makes more power, and that in part, is due to it having more cylinders, because two strokes really begin to suffer with larger cylinders, so they need more, as displacement goes up. You didn't exactly say anything that isn't true, you just stated something that by itself is not true. More cylinders don't make more power, hell, a 1200cc ducati twin makes more power that a 2000cc family sedan.
Since the bike is lighter, it has less inertia, which you would think is outweighed by the fact that it is more aerodinamic, but the thing is, the snowmobile is aerodynamic too. The 20 foot difference can be attirbuted to a slight offset in the correct entry speed between the two. Redbull made them practice it time and time again, in order for them to both land at the same time, having jumped the same distance. Again, once in the air, Hp makes no difference.
Where did you get the song?

2 amazing jumps, it's too bad the snowmobile killed the dirtbike by 20 ft.
ProNayrB 2 months ago
@ProNayrB
Multi-cylinder engine vs single-cylinder engine.
Snowmobile makes heaps more power, which translates into greater velocity at takeoff.
Also, the snowmobile weighs more, which means more inertia once in flight, which then translates into more distance covered before returning to earth.
