@Legion1937 ...if you are talking about the volume of it- I agree; it's a bit loud in this episode. But I could still clearly hear myself over the music on my computer speakers or with headphones in. Unfortunately it's just kind of one-of-those-things...
-If you mean you hated the music I had playing: Was it Allergic to Whores or The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower? I'm gonna go ahead and assume both. -That's okay, it's all a matter of taste. I use different stuff in any video.
@Legion1937 Yeah, but they deserve it, you know? -They paid their dues by that point. It's one of the perks, I guess, even if it does not always work out so well in the end for us readers... at least you know they did have a passion for that particular character. And at LEAST the art will be great.
Thanks for watching and commenting! ...and for the suggestion! I like background music personally, but I will watch the volume closer especially when the music I'm using is so... raw.
@chroniclerofthe70s Yes, his X-Men stuff is good (Kitty Pride forever, yo!) but my personal favorite of his career is Superman & Batman: Generations... -His Fantastic Four and Wonder Woman runs in close second...
Marvel comic beyond 1983 have less detail and skin texture than comics from the 70s. The body proportions are also unrealistic. Skin texture isn't suppose to be glossy. The Incredible Hulk as created and drawn by Kirby is 7 feet tall based on Boris Karloff's stature as Frankenstein's monster. Every artist since Kirby has respected his creation until the after 1983. Byne's Hulk looks like a mongoloid with oversized brow ridges.
@chroniclerofthe70s -I agree about the glossy skin texture, older stories put in trade should NOT be on glossy paper. It takes away so much from the art.
Ha- "unrealistic body proportions" in COMIC books- there's something to be MAD about! *cough*
But OF COURSE the art was better back in the day! I don't have a problem with the 80's art though... "Extreme" 90's art and today's abuse of digital however... that's another story.
And you want to talk ridiculous Hulk brows: Keown wins at losing.
" TheKingofThessaly ". Byrne Hulk is crap compared to Sal and John Buscema Hulk. Byrne is an amateur compared to John and Sal Buscema. The art isn't amazing, fool. I've been drawing since the mid 1970s, there is nothing amazing about Byrnes artwork. The 80s artwork is crap compared to the art work drawn in the 70s. Most avid Hulk fans picture Sal Buscema's Hulk when they close their eyes, fool.
@chroniclerofthe70s Damn, Mister T, I'm really very sorry my favorite looking Hulk is not also your favorite looking Hulk. -Wait, no I'm not, fool!
You seem to have an unnatural fetishism for 70's comic book art. -Get a room you two!
And I never even said J.B. was BETTER than Buscema, Our Pal Sal is one of my favorite comic artists of all time. But go ahead and say 'fool' again to better iterate your point. Thanks for watching!
@TheKingofThessaly I apologize. I'm passionate about the Incredible Hulk comics. I've been reading the Incredible Hulk comic since 1972. Yes, Bryne did a very good job on the Uncanny X-Men particularly on Iron Fist vs X-Men issue. Byrne also did a great job penciling lots of detail in his Avengers issues of the late 70s and early 80s. Although I don't know why he penciled the Hulk with shorts. I noticed both Byrne and Buscema didn't pencil as much details in their post mid 80s artwork.
@chroniclerofthe70s No need to apologize- people like the most what resonates with them the most... You've got some years on me too, I'm 32 now and my first Hulk issue was #335 off the newsstands back in the day... and I hated it. Not a fan of Grey Hulk. So I sought out all the older issues that were sold on the cheap, where he was green and dumb, at the local Flea-Market. -Especially the issues with Mignola or Sienkiewicz covers... Mmmm- THAT's GOOD Hulk!!!
@chroniclerofthe70s -Cool, I just Google searched a cover gallery of those (I never had any of them). The Bob Larkin and Ken Barr covers were my favorites...
I wish Marvel would do something GOOD with The Hulk now. The Planet Hulk thing started off okay but it just was not my bag and it ended pretty weakly. I LOVED the whole Red Hulk storyline AT FIRST- but I don't even think they knew how to keep that story going- oh, and then it's just Betty and General Ross? Double-weak.
hey man welcome back. dude, i just blogged about the Annihilators mini having finally come out as one book but instead of a cheaper TPB it's a hardbound book that's more expensive then all 4 individual issues. and adding insult to financial injury it includes the rocket raccoon back stories too. fucken Marvel i tell ya! listen, what year was this HULK trade published? i'd really like to know cause i just uploaded a new video titled: ROM Spaceknight and the stupid copyright mystery
@holseyd -Thank you, thank you... There might not be many Comic Rainbows coming up on account of I may or may not have kept a three-foot-tall stack of Trade-Paperbacks for a little too long and now owe The Library a ton of money...
*whistles*
*wanders off*
The Trade was published in 2008 and the original comic that had the one panel with ROM in it was from 1986. -No idea on what month without looking... but I'm sure you can Google it.
Hahaha- man, you sure do hate that anthropomorphic raccoon.
It was the fact that it interfered with listening to your commentary.

I agree. I hate when great artists think they are great writers and their not. But they always are given whatever they want to write & draw.

With the exception of his Hulk artwork, Byrne pencils on the Uncanny X-Men in the late 70s was probably his best work.

Respond to this video... Some of the Rampaging Hulk B/W magazine issues from the late 70s have some pretty good cover artwork.
