Times have changed, they changed a long time ago for americans, however, up until not that long ago there was severe discrimination against the nationalists in NI. The split/formation of the PIRA was at first for defense of the nationalist people who were attacked trying to protest the discrimination. I'm not defending what the IRA did, but because of the sectarian nature on both sides it was necessary.

I honestly believe it will take about 100 years or so for the Israelis & Palestinians to really come to terms. Each sides see it as they're being attacked and feel a need for retaliation. Times have changed, they changed a long time ago for americans, however, up until not that long ago there was severe discrimination against the nationalists in NI. The split/formation of the PIRA was at first for defense of the nationalist people who were attacked trying to protest the discrimination. I'm not defending what the IRA did, but because of the sectarian nature on both sides it was necessary.
