Here's a laugh I just had - on(at) myself . I have heard Sledd Ride many times over many years - but not lately. So I was playing around with rolls and doing variations and ended up putting together a nice tune some months ago that I have been telling my wife I wrote. She said" it's nice".
Tonight I click on this Sledd Ride clip and say " now that sounds a lot like the song I wrote." Go figure. The mind can play tricks you haven't even dreamed of.
Nice Video, Song and Pictures here but another banjo player said to me that this song has nothing to do with fun in the snow. I think it was writtin by "Dale Sledd" and my friend told me that this song was his ride on the banjo - so sledd riding!
@analizer87 I am aware of this, friend. Sonny Osborne added the c-chord section to the song. Dale Sledd composed most of it. But, creatively speaking, since it is called Sledd Ridin' it was impossible not to make winter the visual center for the piece. Note that I spelled sled "Sledd" as Dale's last name has two ds. Please respect the creative impetus for the work. I did mention that Dale Sledd wrote the tune in the notes above!
@teakbridge101: Oh now I saw it.... since youtube hides the informations before you click for them this happens sometimes to me! So it like said in my first sentence above - Nice Video, Song and Pictures! ^^
@analizer87 Yeah, YouTube's hiding of info kind of defeats its purpose. They've got it up there, but it is in a drop down menu that no body reads anymore. I remember when they used to have it alongside the video - a much nicer arrangement! People could read it! Thanks.
@dukeofearlbanjo ive never ever heard jd or sonny do some of the licks jim does in this tune. especially chromatic licks. and go listen to JD's flint hill special, and tell me that isnt exactly how earl played it
The stuff. Love Jim Mills' banjo picking, solid as it gets.

This is the most crisp and beautiful sound I've heard. I play the bango but can't match such smoothness. Its great
