I dunno. I look back at Final Fantasy as a whole and I think, most of the heroes are far too elegantly dressed to be taken seriously as warriors, even with their skills. Think about it. In a battle against Gabranth, for example, who would you rather be dressed like? Garland, or Bartz? Not trying to diss the heroes or anything, but based on looks, really only WoL and Cecil, maybe Cloud, are actually dressed for battle, while Terra and Shantotto get passes because they're mages. Just saying.

@planetuoza He's referring to Kefka's despair over his Nihilistic philosophy. Kefka is not outwardly sad, but it is hinted several times that Kefka is saddened by his own mortality, similar to Kuja fearing his. However, Kekfa is still pure bloody insane evil, and that will never change.

I know. But I think it's been argued that his sadness only manifests itself in Dissidia, and not in Final Fantasy 6. I'm just being pissy about Kefka's 'sadness' as a newly added trait to reign in all the fans attracted to hyper-angsty male characters. In short, I meant his character is 'not supposed to be' sad.

@lightdiviner: in a way, these characters aren't really 'ours'... they belong to some bigwigs we may never meet, who can and do use them in any way they see fit, whether it's for artistic license, for money, or a weird combination of the two. at the same time, we make the characters through our reception of them. so... that's my tangent, lol. Kefka will change, Final Fantasy will change, and if it's not what i like, then... that's what fanfiction is for.

Keka's sadness is exactly what Terra says it is, he has no hope, nothing to believe in and he's batshit insane. He destroys because he thinks nothing holds any value. kefka has no real angst only the occasional moment of clarity where he lets you see just how empty he is. It actually makes him more deadly as there's literally nothing anyone can do, no bargaining, nothing to calm him, he's just going to kill and kill and there's no stoppin him.
