I'm not sure if Cyril created himself, but I don't think your friend would have met Cyril. So just maybe, your friend lied.

It came out in print form in 1996 by Bob Borgia. Originally titled "Kissed". Magicians Joe Monti and Dan Wilson also collaborated in the development of this trick. I saw something similar done with a roll of lifesavers in the late "80's early 90's. I think that is where "kissed" original ideal came from,.. similar method.
