To look at this fairly, id say that its a valid perspective. Its always a great idea to raise families in a communal system. However, due to the influx of sexually transmitted diseases, the preference to not share, and so many other factors that would be numerous to list, its not a wise idea to use polgamy in our society. Why not focus on creating generations that actually understand what it means to be in a family? Why not raise responsible adults that believe in commitment?
Polygyny (or polygamy) is NOT a genuine solution and is wrought just as many if not more complications, incl. jealousy issues, inheritance conflicts, as well as making it unfair for many other men who'd be penalized as more women would exercise such an option to become part of some popular man's "harem." polygamy is hard, I should know, even in religion aspect polygamy can be a test of wills in America. To look at this fairly, id say that its a valid perspective. Its always a great idea to raise families in a communal system. However, due to the influx of sexually transmitted diseases, the preference to not share, and so many other factors that would be numerous to list, its not a wise idea to use polgamy in our society. Why not focus on creating generations that actually understand what it means to be in a family? Why not raise responsible adults that believe in commitment?

You are speaking about Polyandry the practice of a woman having more than one husband. The number of cultures that practice don't make up a large enough percentage to count. Their communities are often weak and frail and pale in comparison to the majority of present day polygnousl cultures.

No bashing only the truth African Americans in general are not raised with the aim of being wives and husbands as is the case in countries in Africa. Many of them see themselves having children, but not in a nuclear family, and definitely not in a polygamous one. BM in America don't want to be tied down to women and children. Thats still not a solution. If u do ur research online u will see that there is a total overall shortage of men. And im not just talking about black men. im talking about MEN period. The reason for this? Simple math. Lets say for example in one city there is 100,000 bw, & 50,000 black men. But there is 100,000 white women, and 100,000 white men. well what does that equal? I'm married now but I once dated a guy a long time ago who thought I was insane because I wanted to stay home with my kids. He told me "No woman of mine is going to stay home. She has to work and help pay the bills". I'm not knocking that, but he was looking down on me for wanting to do that. In my opinion I think it's in a man's nature to want to take care of his family whether his woman works or not. Well it's "supposedly" in a man's nature, because clearly it wasn't in his.

Ok, I understand what you're saying. You're saying if both parties work "outside" the home then it can work as far as the financial aspect of it. If this is what you're saying, then i can understand and respect that.
A woman who stays at home works as well. I don't think staying at home to take care of your kids is outdated. I think it's beneficial for "my family unite". I'm assuming that's not what you meant, but I just needed to clarify that.

suzi- Hey no problem anytime...stay at home moms are what most men prefer but in today's feminist political climate it is a preference that most men have had to forfeit and have grown accustomed to doing so. A man asking his woman to stay at home and raise the kids is considered to be an insult to the "modern woman". To find a woman who says she wants to stay at home and raise the kids is a rare find indeed these days.

A man is supposed to be faithful to the family he creates. polygyny isn't better or worse than monogamy it just insures that he is socially, spritually,& financially responsible for "all" of his children and their mothers. Polygyny insures that all mothers have access to the love and attention of the father & no woman has to raise a child alone.

kalonzohart, I can understand and respect your views, but the man has to be financially ready for that. He has to have a lot of money in my opinion. There are a lot of men who are not in the position to take care of more than one wife and any possible children that comes from these marriages. I personally don't think it's wise to have your wives living under the same roof. That may cause a bigger problem and give both wives and the husband more stress than he could possible have with one wife.

There are situations overseas where a man is very wealthy and has multiple wives. These wives are not in the same roof, if they are, they're not close enough to even cross paths with one another. I think there is an outdated view of polygyny 2day that portrays the women as sitting around starving doing nothing but waiting for the man to come home with a slab of goat meat or something. TMH is a just God and he punishes anyone who sins, obviously if TMH didn't punish or even accuse Abraham of "adultery" for being with Hagar and instead blessed Hagar's son Ishmael by giving him a great nation then there is no sin involved. Jacob gave birth to 12 sons with 4 wives and instead of him being punished for "adultery" him and all 12 of his sons was blessed so where is the sin when Jacob never suffered any penalty for it? I love the Idea not just becuase I'm a man. I love the isea becasue it allows the children to to have supervision from the other wife when the mother is maybe working or doing something else. He'll meet a woman face to face or online, charm her, marry her, get her pregnant and once he gets bored with her, he'll do the same with another woman in a different state. He'll convince his wife to seperate in order to work on their marriage. But, when he meets the new woman, he tells her that he is legally divorced. He visits his wives and kids. He also practices ghetto polygny as well. NONE of the women know what he's up to.

In Africa and in non-Western countries, polygyny is nice (even though I would NEVER do it)... but in America? Heck no!!

great to see you marcdaddy33- everyone has to remember polygyny is not a "mandate" for all black people. It is an option.Marriage period isn't for some people. However, Its better than the irresponsible Ghetto Polygyny that we're all use to seeing today. In the end the kids these men have with multiple women benefit more than anyone else in the situation. If a man doesn't have kids then his options may be different.

I'm not knocking any man or woman who wants to do it... I know it would help cure the Single Black Woman Syndrome... I simply question how beneficial such arrangements are for MEN (outside of sex) considering the current legal climate with respect to marriage, divorce, and family court.
But what IS important is that both the man and the women be individuals of integrity who ALL agree to such an arrangement and each equally see it al beneficial.

marcdaddy33- u raise a valid question in regards 2 the current legal climate. It appears as if marriage in America is under attack from a legal stand point period. Its as if the new social policy in the US is to deter even the thought of marriage through the court system in order to control population growth. Good observation.
