  • I think most ppl don't grasp the scale of the sun it is a star. Our earth or even jupiter would be vaporized of they passed within a million miles of it, its ten thousand times the size of earth also the comet was going really fast through super heated coronal particles for hundreds of thousands of miles it wasn't made of ice.

  • They said it was 600ft (200m) wide? LOL How big was it AFTER it was sent back on it's highly elliptical return path? LOL Looks as though it actually GAINED size after it got ejected back out.

  • Error in matrix :p

  • I have not only favorited this video, but have watched and shared it many times since you posted it. Definately one of your best!

  • 5505 °C is said to be the temperature of the Sun at its surface. ice? yeah right. rock? yeah right. turning around the Sun? hmmmmmm. Something definitely doesnt seem quite right.

  • @9Tehuti The gravity of the sun could changed its direction and orbited around the sun. Also, comets are not like asteroids, they are propelled by gas that is triggered when something very hot hits it.

That ice could be millions and millions of years old and i will be nearly as hard as diamond.

Well some say its a UFO, other an unexplained mystery. Lets be relieved that it did not hit us.

  • according to startrek he went back to the past in time :)

  • Awesome video. Thanks for putting it together. One of my favorites for sure. Like the music too. Who’s music is this?

  • Awesome video. If that "comet" is only 1/8th of a mile wide it would have been swallowed by the sun. It seems that we need to rethink comets and their composition. This object is much larger than reported and probably made of solid rock.

  • How does a Comet that is made up mostly of ice survive such a close encounter with the Sun? Am i missing something here?

  • @Stallion1964 Puzzling isn't it? Truely a comet of wonders! And there is more where that one came from. Could even be bigger ones in the offering.

  • @Skyywatcher88 Puzling to the point of almost unbelievable, unless the composition of some comets are not what we think they are?

  • @Stallion1964 , I hear ya. Amazingly we have yet to prove any gas-dust-ice theory when it comes to the comets. Every comet we have ever explored have turned out to be, well, like comet Temple for example. Hard surface of.... no 'dust-gas-ice'.

  • Fake

  • @alean68 Your ass!

  • @ona357 Because this comet was only 1/8th of a mile wide while the average comet is ~6 miles wide. As far as comets go, this was a very minor one.

  • Our sun is the hell - and the planet earth is god with humans in it....got it ?

  • it's like david & goliath. with a small stone, the giant was conquered. so as with a small comet, the intensity of the sun's heat seems nothing at all.

  • Screw the comet... that music was intence!! jokes no, right now i am waiting for lovejoy to venture New Zealand skies it is now 3:30 AM.

  • Love survives all things !

  • @ona357 Because it is only 200 meters in size...And some claim it to be twice the size of Earth, which is fare from the truth...in fact 200 meters is pretty small in astero terms. Its the biggest observed from the Kreutz-group comet during SOHO's operation. Bigger ones could be in the offering. Although back in 2007 comet Mcnaught, not from the Kreutz group...It is a big one. McNaught's core is just less than 15 miles (25 kilometers) wide. A little bigger than 200 meters...lol

  • Small cool comet named "Lovejoy" sundiving toward a giant hot sun, almost no chance of the comet surviving the encounter, but yet love and joy prevailed amazingly in the right proportions...An understanding one may need going into 2012...What a wonderful sign to end the year...Merry Christmas...Peace!

  • hmm, NASA "footage"/video = UTTER LIES!

Guess it's like so many rational humans said all alone:

population will believe in what they are told to believe by those IN POWER!

I can't verify FOR SURE if there was a comet going towards the sun, passing through the sun and surviving almost in one piece!

This video(as many others),remind me of the 1990's GAMES!

What happened to the "normal astronomy" and observations?!

Ah,yes:those damn chemtrails blocked all views...

    I wonder WHY...

    good day sheeples!

  • It was Hotblack Desiatos sundiving spaceship, doing some sunflare surfing, the most dangerous and expensive sport in the galaxy.

  • the funny thing is that the doomsdayers allready claims that it is a asteroid or a UFO what a hell are there problem?

  • Excellent video!

  • @SunsFlare Thanks

  • First lie is that comets are dusty balls of ice, they have rock and metal and gases perhaps liquids. This is more crap from NASA

  • This is an alien mothership.

  • @MrGhostblood Not saying there aren't powers and principalities of Powers, but one must know its place. If I speculate "mothership " it would take the Glory away from the creator. You don't get it! Small cool comet named "Lovejoy" sundiving toward a giant hot sun, almost no chance of the comet surviving the encounter, but yet love and joy prevailed amazingly in the right proportions, I'm not going to substitute this wonder for evil alien mothership behind the sun...sorry...Peace!

  • ...wow, fantastic highlighter

~makes the story clear as the stary sky

=now we have many question to answer, starting with "wow, it still their" ?

+ eventually we shall know what is not and what could be a Carrington Solar Storm level event or worse

  • That was one hot ride! Lovejoy is now Lovescorched! I'm just glad it swung away from us. I don't imagine shes half of what she use to be after that wild ride. That's gotta be one of the best presentations I've seen on your channel. Quite the WoW factor. That's why I subscribe. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos. Excellent music choice too.

  • Kudos for the presentation. Loveleh!

  • That was flipping awesome, thanks skywatcher!

  • great vid

  • Wow man, great video.

  • :150 rectangle?

  • Love your editing and this music is so energizing! Are there frames still missing?

  • What a cute little comet, and to think it was some 140k km over the surface and still survived is intense!

  • but in tjid case jusy slapping diffent pictures of the sun to prove the hypothesis is judt crappy work. like your math teacher said"prove yor work".

  • well haley comet is proof that comets go pass the sun to be thrown back to the dusty suburbs of our system.

  • There is no proof that it actually went INTO the sun, all we can say is that it survived.

What it survived, be it going through the sun or around the sun, is unknown and unproven.

  • @godwithin060988 It is impossible for the comet to go through the sun...the plasma gas is very dense. The core is 15 times that of lead...It went around the backside as I illustrated in the video and in fact is going back out toward deep space. Sorry if I gave you an impression other wise...the images prove themselves...Peace!

  • @Skyywatcher88

It took me second to figure that it went around the sun and not INTO the sun.

But it isn't your fault, what happened was that i read about it in yahoo news, they said that it went INTO the sun and survived, your video was the 1st one i saw and so i left a comment without properly checking the subtitle, my bad.

    :)

  • @godwithin060988 No worries!

  • @godwithin060988 This is not true in 2003, underwent the same way Comet NEAT! Video is true!Do you know anything about physics, astrophysics you went to elementary school? Well, here in Europe, it teaches young children .......

  • It is like a Sperm cell pass through an Egg cell.

  • Kind of looks like lovejoy is a sperm trying to impregnate our sun lol

  • Outstanding video (and tune)! I think it survived cause of it's name :D

  • there is a huge time lapse. Did anyone notice that? Did they cut out a big portion?

  • @Jlady64 Thats what I thought too. It could be it was just moving so fast by that time the camera coulcnt keep up. I bet that thing is clipping along at 300,000 miles per hour , at least.

  • Far Out! That was Fantastic! I'm so Glad that it Didn't hit the Sun. We Don't need any more Stress On It! Great Find, I Really liked it. Peace To You SkyWatcher88! Nick

  • WTF is that moving away from the sun on the left at the end of the vid

  • @brett328 the comet silly :)

  • This is amazing!

  • great vid! thanks..

  • i wonder what comet and Sun had to 'say' to each other during their encounter ♥ makes my imagination curiouser

  • that is so amazing and cool thanks SO MUCH for putting these videos together i LOVE watching them. with love ♥ peace on ya

  • How cool is it to turn on the computer and this is the first video I see? I might as well turn the computer back off because I'm not going to see anything more fantastic than this today!

    Thanks

  • Does that mean next time around it will hit the Sun, if so can that effect us? ,top vid.

  • well done !!

    so kiss the cook. . . ^^

  • nice

  • that is some really nice work youve done here, thanks

  • Well that was exciting! Thanks for the share!
