before you cement the ballast take 70% insopropyl alcohol and soak the ballest good get a old glue bottle to use . any questions send me a message. I have some good tip to help you out that i learned form old school modelers.
@conrailgp15 Thanks for posting that on here. I've heard some old timers talk about that tip, but I never could remember the ratio of water to mix in with it. The fine material that's used for ballasting n scale track runs off so easily even after being sprayed with soap & water mix.
Josh, is that black car with yellow end a wood chip hopper car and if so how much? Can't wait till you get back on the double tunnel portals, do you know how long that will be?
i'd like to trade one of my locomotives for one of yours! idk if you're interested in that. yours are obviously better and worth more than mine but i would give you something else too i guess, money or a $20 rolling stock that i have or something... anyway i won't be able to make a trade until July though, if you're interested.
Nice looking!, Hey, that one boxcar, The blue one, from an upside down and weathered point of view the Grand truck one? I'll be getting in some more cash soon, And i need more boxcars :3 (also my friends' brother's birthday was today, DOH! he's modeling the same are as me.. So, you know XD) (PM me about some of those i'd be intrested)
good work on the scenery, im about to start on my scenery as soon as i can get a hold of a book with scenes from the old SP/ATSF lines so i know how to sculpt my foam hills
Sweet, lol, On the Ballast I got 1 or 2 suggestions if you dont mind, I would say dont just use all one color ballast, mix it up here and there, Also a trick someone should me is get a big peace of cardboard lay it flat and spread a bag or so of ballast flat on it, Then get some dark gray or flat black spray paint or both and and spray the ballast to give it a better variation in color, it looks so much much better, and looks just like the real stuff.
Yeah I figured that out. That was just my little test section and it looked pretty bad when I mixed them together. Good idea! Thanks man ill have to try that!
@NSmodeler24 You also may also think about painting the road bed also the same color. Beleave me it works. Also may want to paint the rails a rust color.
This is just a suggestion, but use the smallest size ballast you can find. If your going for accuracy, thats the most prototypical, if you scaled the medium and large up to 1:1 , the rocks would be like baseball sized. Lookin great tho
can you please order a es44dc for me

Well, I think Southern Railway had some SD35 High hoods, so you could say it was a repaint after the merger or something. :)

NW has sd35s, and I think a couple made them to ns :) So you're in good shape, but I'd do it in the old paintscheme.
gtw4918 1 year ago
They actually did have them but they never made it out of the Southern paint scheme. I guess ill pretent that a few of them made it out.
