he hasn't trained much in gjj. if he did he would not have been that close to begin with. rule 1 keep 2 arms lengths away, rule 2 close distance effectively without being hit. to accomplish rule 2 you have to know Gjj very well, their are dozens of ways to close the distance without being hit. if he told you he has then he lied to you, what can i say. could have pisao kicked in and went for a double leg or single or leg hook or body fold etc. end of video.

I know both guys and the Ju Jitsu guy has trained with some of the best, Gracie, Eddie Bravo, etc. This one clip of course doesn't show his true skill. But I think that's the point when you don't know what's coming its hard to implement you game plan.

Why people nowadays became so racist and bravely commenting from behind the keyboard? I'm from Indonesia, and I learned silat for 7 years. The true purpose of learning silat is to maintaining a humble profile even if you had a power to control other people under your power. We learn it so we can protect ourself and others (except the opponent), and make a lot of friends. Just stop being so racist, guys. Silat FTW.

BJJ is made with the main purpose of winning from other martial arts in SPORT.
Traditionally Indonesians carry weapons, live near rough terrain like mountains, volcano's, jungles, rice paddies, at sea and near rivers.
Its not wise to fight BJJ style in the jungle ore rice paddies with snakes on the ground.
Would you use BJJ ore Silat against someone with a machete?
Modern Silat styles have incorporated traditional Jiu Jitsu because it makes sense in a true life ore death situation.

You know what they say, hate is bred out of fear and fear comes from a lack of understanding. I have a striking background and used to believe wrestling was gay, but once i tried it i realised how useful it can be.

Right about not knowing the unexpected but when you fight anything can happen,
Silat or Chinese as Pukulan combines both. BJJ is a terror to deal with but Matt Hughes showed how fierce Gracie was. Silat with or without uniform is mainly a
weapon oriented art as I have studied. This Silat guy us being merciful but has clips
that show the real power & speed uncontested.

On the full video we have the guy in the hoody showing his picture with Joyce Gracie both in Gi. He lasted with Joyce for almost 5 minutes before being tapped out. He lasted here a few seconds. I know both guys and the Ju Jitsu guy has trained with some of the best, Gracie, Eddie Bravo, etc. This one clip of course doesn't show his true skill. But I think that's the point when you don't know what's coming its hard to implement you game plan.

joe? we told the guy he was gonna get hurt but he insisted since he hung with Joyce for 5 min. and felt he could not be taken. He has been with BJJ for 5 years and thinks a striker has no chance so the striker was told to go slow as to keep from hurting him. He does Silat and it's real time.

I've been training BJJ for 3+ years, and I can tell you, not one BJJ trained fighter would ever stand like that in a fight. this video is obvious propaganda for the martial art you train, but hasn't been proven effective in mma. First off, there is no Joyce Gracie, and if you meant Royce, the distance between Royce's school and Eddie Bravo's makes it impossible, and leads me to believe you just Googled "Jiu Jiusu Guys" and threw out the first 2 names you saw. @theangelrules007 So I saw the chinese part of this art? Silat Pukulan... I mean of course I don't know all styles. And most Silat styles have the goal to teach their students to always evolve. Maybe somewhere across this way some one picked Kung Fu moves up.

What a crap, if that guy was really trained in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu he would rush to take the silat guy down and not be dancing in front of him waiting for the attack. People just don't get that the Gracie family proved a point many times over since the 1940's that Jiu-Jitsu is far more effective than this hollywood bs... thus we have now the UFC.
