i dont feel like looking through all the comments so dont verbally murder me over the internet, but the trucks need to get push bars on the front. just like a lot of police cars have.
Textbook Apparatus Spotting!! Great job Brother Engineers (and even Chief's Drivers) Engines, leave room for the arriving Trucks. Professional drivers all, no need to upset ourselves over the civilian vehicles, we know where the corners of our rigs are...and that we can adapt and overcome anything! Love that the Chiefs of this Dept (Seattle) set such a good example of not clogging the streets with their staff cars (SUV's). Outstanding example of proper fire apparatus positioning.
i live in seattle area and people do not know how to drive here. I also volunteer for a very small department up east and many times i just wanted to get out of the rig and tell them that i hope they'll have an emergency soon and some idiot wont pull over when we on our way to help them.
I don't know if the person who uploaded this still uses his/her account, but this video seems to have grown popular, and i'd be happy to answer any questions about the fire, since this was my house.
@newland007 I know right? I am on a smaller rural department and we had a structure fire the other morning. We had one engine, one tender and one brush truck on it. :-S
Ignorant fucks. Shouldn't take that long to realize there is a nice big red fire truck with all his pretty lights going WHO NEEDS YOU TO MOVE THE FUCK OUTTA THE WAY!!!!! nice vid man.
what youre seeing is the aftermath of a sparkler that caught fire to a reef hanging on the front door of the house. As the flames built the door and surrounding area went up in flames and eventually caused two full tiki torches near by on the front porch to explode. The flames were so hot they melted the door handle on the outside off. I realized the fire only a few minutes into and called 911 but by the time they got there it had reached our attic and both rooms on the 2nd floor.
@lallalita The only way u can "ram" one legally is if its blocking a fire line are hydrant.. Then there is a ton, then a ton more, then a chewing, then a ton more paper work.. Hint why no one "rams". Although i have seen an engineer hook chains to one and pull it out of the way (funniest thing ever, but cleared the path.).
P.S: Should be a officer walking through giving tickets out, that would make this video a winner.
@pcfd20 there is one more way a dep can ram a car ,van , police car or any thing if they park in front of the bay door i and one other almost had to do that at my old dep witch im no longer with do to blowing out my back
p.s it was a cheff's car at that the one time and the other time it was a cop car funnyies thing ever seeing a cop run to move his car when a a pumpper is about to more it for him and yes its about 3 to 4hr's of papper work
nice turn out indeed, may i ask why such a large response for what seems to be a small fire for instance the height vehicle for a dwelling of 2 or 3 floors?......if someone could enilghten me i'd be grateful:)
I was wondering the same thing, looks like they called a 3 or 4 alarm. I'm thinking it could be because of high population in the area, fire exposure,
Many times different response units (engine, truck, rescue, etc...) have different specialized tasks to which they are assigned. Regardless of what apparatus they respond in they have different jobs when they get there. The ladder companies usually take care of ventilation and search/rescue duties upon arrival, whereas the pumper/engine companies are responsible for extinguishment.
Hi. In the Seattle FD, the standard Full Response for a house fire is: 4 Engines, 2 Ladders, 2 Battalion Chiefs, the Deputy Chief (Deputy 1), 1 Aid Unit (BLS), 1 Medic Unit (ALS), Air 9, Safety 2 and Staff 10. The Ladder companies perform search and rescue, ventilate, and help in overhaul. The Ladders try to position themselves in front of the fire building, even though they don't always raise their aerial. I didn't check the records, but it looks like this remained at a 1 alarm.
the same thing could happen if it was one or two engines, it is always better to have extra and be able to recall them then not have enough and have to hit out a second alarm. at my fire company we have 6 companies on our first alarm which i think is just the right amount
I think they went way over-the-top for the response for a small structure fire, but, as I was told by a firefighter, you can never have too many units respond, it's always good to have backup.
@RawFir3man when it's a fire seattle always has alot of man power there was a fire about a month ago they had over 105 firefighters on scene it was a old factory fire
i dont feel like looking through all the comments so dont verbally murder me over the internet, but the trucks need to get push bars on the front. just like a lot of police cars have.
