You need to feed your iggy more, he looks really skinny! Besides that, that kinda behavior is normal, don't worry. They grow out of it, but you need to give it alot of attention OUTSIDE it's cage. You need to learn him to trust you fully. My iggy tailwhipped me and has bitten me a few times in the beginning when I tried to pick it up, but she got used to me after a few weeks of intensive physical contact. After that, she was the sweetest iggy a person could have.

he does not hate you he is afraid of your hand,hand feed him and hold your hand inside so he does not feel afraid and he will stop or he is just agressive then the taming is more hard
Get the camera off his face, they don't really like it. Give it some time to get used to its environment. Handle him couple of times a day even if it's trying to run away from you. They are very smart lizards and they will learn what you teach them. If you teach them that you want to hold him but he resists and you give up, then he will learn to always run away and for you to give up and back away. I have an iguana, and that's how I tamed her. Patience my friend...first by, og build a bigger cage, she/he has no place to hide, and if she/he is scared of you, she is being watched the whole timi didnt touch my iguana before it was completely settled in its new habitat, and it was not a baby when i got it about 1½ years, and totally untamed. and she became with patience the cutest "puppy-like" iguana, who would run out of her cage and go to me, A green iguana is a wonderfull animal. i hope your iggy turns its hate to love.
i just got mine bout 2-3 weeks ago and he was super super scared of me and the first 5 days all i did was stand by his cage so he wouldnt feel like he was being threatend then i would reach my hand in there to do things also just taking out his dish and cleaning you know....... then after bout a week and a half i picked him up and held him for about 1hour 30 mins.... it is recommended to do it that long for baby iguanas to get used to u

And he grows very fast, you really should think of it! And the last one, be very carefull if you take him outside...but let him walk alone at first and then treat him very slowly...then he would trust you better okay?
try holding him really early morning, let him wake up to being on your hand.. or late at night.. they are slow.. and cold and don't mind being held as much then. Good luck!!

You should not do something like that - iguanas are very intelligent, and that means each one is original. Some are calm, some are introvert and do not like close contact. Your iguana is showing very strong defensive signs - you can not provoke him when he is in this position, opening his mouth, hissing and beating you with his tail. You can either go away, or grab him very fast (but carefully, of course) and let him go, when he is calm again.
new baby iguanas need a hidebox to relax in and time to get used to being there, they think u will eat them so let it bite or whip u & dont react & they will think they cant hurt u & stop then try hand feeding being real calm hold them everyday for 30 to 60 min. let them have time in a warm bath & you can try, once they will let u pick them up to put under your shirt & take a nap on u they will think ur a safe warm place to be. watch my feeding baby ig video, lighting videos

ok from the video, first get rid of the heat rock & use a 75 watt light for a basking spot make sure the temp is not more then 98 in that spot and get a shoe box or a plastic box and cut a hole in the end so he can hide in it, he is very scared if you, don't put the camera at him use the zoom not many igs like cameras, move slow & quietly at him let him bite you & DO NOT react let him whip you & DO NOT react u Must stop this reaction of his before he gets big enuff to put you in the hospital
offer him a fav piece of fruit & dont move go slow & let him come to u, when u can pick him up give him a warm bath in the sink you need to prove to him ur not going to hurt or eat him! also in the bathroom where he cant hide under much let him sit on ur shoulder for a while & learn its safe to be near ur face but watch out if u look at him he might whip ur face so let him explore u then if u can put him under ur shirt to nap on you for 20 to 30 min to show him ur a warm safe place to be
this all takes time so be very paient with him it took me a year to gain Bintys trust some will come around in a week but each is different, also he could be feeling bad to they lash out at u to try & tell u they are hurting so take a fecal simple in a moist paper towel in a ziploc to a reptile vet to check for worms & parasites its like $40 if he has them & u dont treat him for it they will kill him, also get rid of the substraite, use newspaper or reptile carpet mist him a couple times a day 2

well they do like to be around other babies in the wild but i'm not so sure thats it cause he should be bonding to you as sorta of another iguana its hard to tell if theres something bothering him or he doesn't feel good or could just be a personality thing and u and him dont match its hard to say and if u get another one he might be jealous of another iguana in his terrtory then you could end up with 2 that are mad, i would keep trying with him
but if you could find another maybe someone would trade you and see if yours likes being with someone else and another might like u more, u can try a pet store or a reptile rescue try seeing if they could help you find someone he likes that would give him a good home so he doesn't just end up in a bad way & maybe a different one would like u better it would be great if you both could be happy even if that meant parting ways...

i take him piut him in my arm resting on my jacket he stays chilling but everytime i try to pick him up he tails atack me and open his mouth to bite me lol he does it all the time everyday at first i got pissed cuz i had other iguanas in the past and they were cool hes the 1st mean one i w as thinking of getting rid of him but hes cute i love igs and i find it cute and funny
lol yea some are just touchy i guess, keep trying and showing him its ok to be picked up and touched . you have to in a nice way let him know you will pick him up when you need to
haha prolly pretty close! but 1 thing you can do that seems to talk to them is look into his eye so you know he sees u & slowly close your eyes at him 3, 4 times in a row its a way of saying ur relaxed so he should relax to if u make a kissing action at them it really gets their attention cause they can't do that with their mouth it sounds odd but they are very visual animals & it works for mine to show them its ok relax when they are new or really worked up but yea i've gotten the idot look to

oh cool, well hard to say but maybe hes getting used to u and thought he would come see u or maybe he wanted u to wake up and feed him more or just wanted to hang out and doing stuff with u, it takes them time but it sounds like a good sign to me :)
Of course it hates you if you stress it out like that! Learn how to properly approach a baby. You need to desensitize it, not traumatize it.

@kimonap I hope you don't feed it guinea pigs. They're not part of an iguana's diet and an iguana never gets big enough to eat one.
