  • try putting it in a left hand retrieve. please. some of us want the good stuff but are not ambidextrius

  • @unknowndragon78 Hi we developed a left handed model for the Japanese market. You can find them on online auction sites with a little searching. Also we are working on bringing a limited run to North America in early fall 2012. We will post on facebook and send out an email when they are available.

  • Hey, would you recomend using this reel in the near max break configuration? i mean, i'ld probably need to use it to break 10-8 lb, would you recommend using it like that all the time?

  • @Skirmitch It is hard to say. The adjustment comes into play with heavier or lightweight baits, casting into the wind, whether you are flipping/pitching or casting for distance. You'll want to adjust based off all those factors. In windy conditions you might want extra braking because the lure wont go as far but your spool will keep spinning. A lot times if you are just trying to get a feel for it go heavier on the brake and back it off as you get a feel for it. Hope that helps

  • @AbuGarciaTV Noooo, you understood me wrong, i was talkng about drag.

  • @Skirmitch Ahh, thanks now we see. You'll need to tighten it most of the way. If you are using lighter line you might want to loosen it up a bit to prevent a break off. Otherwise with heavier line you can keep it tight all the time when fishing. Just loosen the star drag when you are done fishing for the day.

  • can i use this for crankbaits

  • @fisherkid98 You could use the 7.1:1 gear ratio which gets about the same inches per turn as the existing Revo 6.4:1 models. But you might prefer to use the Winch reel for crankbaits paired with Veritas Winch rod. That model and rod action is designed specifically for crankbaits. The lower gear ratio at 5.4:1 comes in handy when fishing cranks over and over.

  • I got mine today! I cannot wait to take it out on the water so far I'm impressed by flippin brush hogs down my hallway!

  • @AbuGarciaTV Oh i see thanks. I was really hoping it was made in japan but oh well it has a very reasonable pricing =)

  • can this be used in saltwater as i do light fishing out at sea?

  • @bakersystem Yes it can be used in saltwater with proper maintenance. The X-mag alloy utilizes a special process for corrosion protection. As with all reels lightly rinse with fresh water after each use and perform proper maintenance.

  • Look at the line retrieve per turn. Its not about ratio!

  • Fucking idiots! ..looks great , but those ratios are fucking retarded

  • @0ptimus01 Thanks for you concern regarding the gear ratio. They are actually needed to achieve the same retrieve rate as other reels in the marketplace. The Revo MGX is so much more compact than anything else out there we raised the ratios to achieve a similar inches per turn retrieve rate as other Revos. The hight speed Revo MGX 7.9:1 ratio pulls in 31 inches per turn which is similar to a 7.1:1 Revo STX. The MGX's 7.1:1 gear ratio actually gets a similar IPT to 6.4:1 Revos.

  • @AbuGarciaTV love the reel but i agree with optimus01[except not the color of words...lol ] why not just call them 6:4 or 7:1?

  • @n4sir804 We wouldn't want to call them something they aren't. As we advance technology and make more compact reels you will begin to see ratios changing, but we want to be truthful on what the ratios are. If you think of it the same way computers work in the technology world, it would be like calling a new 3.4 GHz processer the same as a 3.2 GHz processor. Line retrieve rates relate to spool size as well as gear ratio. We would be mistating the specs info to say they are the old ratios.

  • @AbuGarciaTV ok so let me see if i have this correct..the spool is turning at a 7:1 ratio..but in reality it is equal to 6:4 ratio.? so isnt that calling it something it isnt? please dont get me wrong i love the MGX...i just dont understand why the difference in ratio...thanks for trying to explain...im just missing something here..because i dont get it.. but keep making great reels :-)

  • @n4sir804 The line retrieve has to do with both the gear ratio and spool diameter. So since the MGX has a smaller spool diameter than the original Revo models, it requires a higher gear ratio to retrieve the same amount of line in 1 turn of the handle. The ratio means that every time you turn the handle 1 turn the spool rotates 6.4 or 7.1 times. The smaller the diameter of the spool, the more turns to retrieve the same amount of line as a larger spool. Thus the higher ratio on the Revo MGX.

  • I'M GOING TO GET IT FOR SURE!!

  • The idea is to sell the product and basic marketing tells you the more exposure you get the more sales you have so obviously they'll continue to post reviews in hopes of increasing sales to loyal customers like me and to bring new customers into the fold. Don't watch if you don't like. It's not your bandwith.

  • please dont compare this to the curado, its not even close to the MGX, i mean the weight, and the drag power, durability, and castability.

  • man how many reviews are you guys gonna make for this reel.

  • @xfiles1952 how mant reviews r u going to watch.

  • @smoovefishing im subbed to them so i guess all of them

  • @xfiles1952 r u retarded?

  • @armjamal no i dont think so

  • nice i am thinking about this or the curado

  • @goin650 The Curado is nice but the Revo series does straight up out perform the Curado. A far as casting and drag performance. I know for a fact because I have the 300 E and the Type J from Japan. As far as reels go they "handle" much the same. So in truth either would be a good choice...
