@salva96 the whole thing is actually 28 minutes, and it is 100% improv, i shit you not. it's called 3 minute warnign becasue tony Levin "bassist" wanted to jam for song rather than write songs so he said if they don't start jamming in 3 minutes, then he will go home.
the song is called THREE minute warning, but it's broken up into TWO parts each of them being NINE minutes? that doesn't make any sense...at the same time it doesn't make any sense how somebody can be as good as john petrucci either...
@Fluffypopcicle the name comes from a practice they had, where Levin (Bass) was getting fed up of writing so strictly like Portnoy prefers, so he gave the ultimatum, ' if we dont just play in 3 minutes, i'm leaving.' and the result, my friend, is this...
yeah, i could understand his frustration. writing is boring if it's too structured, i like to experiment. most good riffs and parts that i make come from jamming, not thinking things out, and in the end it still sounds organized. of course, there are times where i need to think things out when i don't make anything good enough from just jamming.
This literally makes me want to kill all the overproduced pieces of garbage they call musicians(lady gaga, akon, britney spears) Hey much music, how bout you put fucking dream theater or LTE on your channel and present the world real music.
"Three Minute Warning" is a reference to the recording sessions where Levin wanted to improvise as opposed to Petrucci and Portnoy wanting to carefully write songs. Levin eventually told the others that if they didn't start to jam in three minutes, he'd just go home.
Thats how the song is on the CD. You can use WavePad Sound Editor or Audacity or Windows Media Player, put all the mp3s in order, and then export it as a complete .WAV audio file.
This my friends is real music. I feel bad for the kids these days that will never know this music due to their ignorance and lack of taste in music (Britney Spears, Jonas Brothers etc).
CAUTION: "Three Minute Warning" is not for the musically faint-hearted, impatient, or critics of extreme self-indulgence. If you fall into any of the above categories, please hit the stop button on your CD player after track # 8

I love Levin, he's a great musician, but I don't like Petrucci and Dream Theater. So I still can't tell whether or not I like this band........

It's amazing that this is improvised. There is so much musical complexity and synchronization between them all. These guys are an inspiration.

Yes. Buy the CD. I listen to it here because I don't tend to bring CDs to work, and after-hours I crank it up! So thanks to whomever uploaded it.

The Killers are awesome. Not to say this isnt though... but I get tired of people slagging off the GOOD indie bands!
MuffinWithAnAxe 2 years ago
I wouldn't say The Killers are bad, but they're more alternative, and definately not indie as in independent.
ldave16l 2 years ago 5
The UK has a different definition of indie ;) its sort of alt pop kinda lol.

Yeah the title isn't reflecting on the length of the song but a story with the bassist and how he wanted to start in 3 minutes or else he was leaving
