  • @alexdanielfincher graham left the group at the end of 1968 to join Crosby, stills and Nash and Allan had left to do a solo career but that didn't last long. Mikael rickfors replaced Allan and terry sylvester replaced graham and was with the group for something like 11 years. : )

  • wheres graham? wheres alan?

  • Electric!!!

  • Tony is singing,Rickfors playing Conga♪ Wonderful★★

  • Tony, Tony, Tony has done it again. 8D

    <3 Love ya Tones <3

  • Classic Hollies song, unfortunately loses something without Alan on lead vocals and Graham breaking glass with his falsetto. Tony Hicks is awsome mind and Bobby is his usual incomparable self.

See, The Hollies - Carrie Anne (Live 1968), for the original.

  • looks like the midnight special, theirs a clip of them doing long cool woman with terry on lead vocals, all wearing the same clothes and same instrutments

  • Tony Hicks. Love him, love him!

  • Go Bobby! Fantastic drums.

  • Tony was one of the most underrated guitarist.

Such a talent and some of the best guitar riffs ever!

Now in the RRHOF and so deserved!

  • y allan ?

    ah

    donde esta????????

  • I like the drumming as well.

  • Just love them!♥ I would have loved to have seen Tony and Terry together on stage-ah but for a time machine!♫

  • TONY and TERRY, they sing soooo!!! good, i got goosebumps just watching play, with so much feeling!!!!!!! For me the rule the COSMOS!!~~~ tks for posting treasure

  • I LOVE!! TONY HICKS he is so talented

  • Didn't sound the same without Allan Clarke. As much as Tony Hicks tried, they weren't as good as the original Hollies. They survived Graham Nash leaving but couldn't without Allan Clarke's voice.

  • Excatly !!

  • this drummer is great

  • Bobby Elliott is probably the quintessential drummer... seriously solid style but fluid enough to pull seriously cool stuff out of thin air!

    i love his playing!

  • this drummer is great? to today´s standard he´s just an amateur. listen carefully, he´s ruining the groove ....

  • By today's standards Bobby Elliot is still one of the greatest drummers in rock and roll history. His drumming is fantastic on this live performance.

  • @dex2345 that drummer is the fantastic bobby elliot (who along with lead guitarist tony hicks in other words the guy singing the lead vocal in this video.) is still with the hollies to this day. keep on rockin for as long as you can tony and bobby. and god bless you dex2345.

  • tony hicks is a great musician!

  • This jazzy version is super as performed by the great Tony Hicks and Terry Sylvester. The great Allan Clarke is missing here but the aforementioned greats were gifted in their own right.

  • Allan had just left the band and they were on tour with Mikael. I think he hadn´t learned the songs yet. But that doesn´t matter ´cos Tony sings really well.

  • The earlier, lighter material such as 'Carrie Anne' didn't fit Mikael's vocal range, hence Tony sings it. But Mikael does sing "Carrie Anne", second from the last in the finish.

  • Why no usual lead singer, Allen or Mike?

Great version of this song,Terry should never have left. What is the story there.

  • Terry said in a 2007 interview that in `81 the band was having a lean spell and some band members wanted to sack their longtime manager Robin Britten. There was a band vote and Sylvester & Bernie Calvert voted to keep him but the others voted to sack him.Calvert & Sylvester left over this issue.Calvert said Britten had ensured the band members owned all publishing and had decent royalty rates.Sylvester said he still receives a healthy 20% of band royalties today as a result of brittens work.

  • It's a good version.

  • THe Hollies are one of my favoutite bands, but are nothing without Allan Clarke, sadly missing here.He WAS the unique sound of The Hollies.

  • I agree Alan was "the" lead singer of The Hollies and Tony & Bobby should've packed it in when Alan quit the band. But Graham Nash and Tony Hicks had a large role on the original "Carrie Anne" single anyway. It's not a bad version.

  • I agree !!!!!!

  • I love TONY HICKS he is amazing.

  • Phew. Thanks treasurefromthedeep. :)

  • Tony's British accent makes me melt, and so does everything else about him!! =D

  • I love this version. It's a rock song instead of a pop song.

  • Tony has a very distinct voice.

  • How many singers The Hollies had???

  • Lead singers? Three plus the current guy, who is not in the same league with Allan Clarke, Mikael Rickfors, and Carl Wayne. But Tony Hicks, Terry Sylvester, and Graham Nash all sang lead at various times on different songs.

  • Comment removed

  • I simply can't see Rickfors in this video, it's Terry playing congas! And Rickfors did not leave the band by 1972??

  • This is how the band should sound; rocking and right on. Rickfors joined in early 1972 and was out of the band in mid-'73. Rickfors is seen at the far right, playing congas, and singing "Carrie-Anne" at the end of the song.

  • EEEEEKK!!!!.....I'm in heaven! Tony's voice is amazing!!!! And he's so beautiful!

  • He IS beautiful and yet he is certainly not what most of us consider to be "classically" handsome. I have always found guys with unusual looks to be the best. Don't like the GQ cover types.

  • Tony Makes Me Melt! such a lovely soul!

and ADORABLE as EVER! his smile..when he looks down..and kinda shylike...ALWAYS!! make me MELT! i LOVE him! he's just AWESOME! :-D

  • Omigosh-Same here! You expressed it perfectly and about gorgeous guys with unconventional good looks. :)

  • MY GOD! i just love TONY! :-D LOVELY! :-D

  • MY GOD! TONY!!!<3 this is my new fav video!! thanks for posting this! <3 :-D

  • Isn't Tony just yummy? I wish he had more chances to sing lead. I really like his voice.

  • Tony...is VERY YUMMY! i just found him actually...was just farting about on youtube..and i found him...since i was born when he was in his 30's!

  • I wonder why Terry is playing the maracas, he usually played guitar, and why he didn't sing the part that Graham sang.

  • Good point , cause he was singing it live right after Graham left.

  • Bobby Elliott (the drummer) looks different without his hat.

  • I saw them during this period.

  • Very nice performance and a nice adjustment to the original. These guys were solid and a great "Live" band,I regret not saving my money and seeing them when they appeared in Buffalo.

  • How rare is this! Thanks for posting. It is true when they say Rickfors used to hide on stage...only see him at the end of the clip. (But that could be the camera mans fault also).

  • Rickfors couldn't speak English (he spoke Dutch), he sang in English but couldn't speak it fluently, that's why you don't see him in interviews for the group.

  • That is an obvious toupee. He was going bald by 1966.

  • Actually Rickfors did speak in print interviews. But on stage he spoke not one word.

  • Rickfors did not speak Dutch. He is Swedish. He actually spoke English OK, but of course it was a second language for him.

  • I wonder why Tony sang Terrys bit which was originally Grahams bit

  • Yes, I find that curious too.

  • Super! The Hollies were dynamite during this early 70s time period.

  • Great stuff! Thanks for posting this.

  • Uhuuuu... GREAT!

  • Interesting to say the least. I think I may prefer this version to the recorded version - no steel drums!

  • I saw them at this time, and, ironically, EVERY song they played sounded BETTER than the recorded versions.
