  • this is a song when bee were dancing/doing waltz.

  • Wonderful!

  • Thank you so much Frederic...

  • Lol, "It's good for the morning during before your breakfast to role the piano out by the table. (Minute Waltz.)"

  • its too faast!

  • @aghaanantyab have you read description? ,,,

  • Awesome! I feel I am looking at a spinning puppy to catch her tail. ^^

  • The nice old lady's old enough to be my grandma, she's 75 ish. But this lady needs to be Singaporean :P

  • I think the most musical rendition I've ever heard

  • have you heard the voice at the end ???????? FANTASTIC

  • lol I called this the "My-newt" waltz once but my teacher quickly told me "No, it's the minute waltz" and of course you know how that goes (the teacher is always correct even if proven wrong LOL)... should've played it in a minute then >_> just to prove the point! oh well! love your ending, very calm and charming!

  • Actually, a lot of Asian people hate the stereotype that every single Asian is a genius or a virtuoso.

  • @izzyjamm4 Actually, Asians have such fame because they're so hardworking and dicsiplined.

  • Just lovely. Beautifully articulated!

  • wow, nice "Bumblebee waltz" op 64 no1 ... :O

  • ... And I have to play that for a competition... SIEK!!!

  • Demasiado rápido

  • 320 mer note. thats fast

  • Not fast enough ... she failed to do it within one minute :-D

No, actually I don't like it this fast ... half the speed would make it more beautiful for me ...

  • Unbelievable, she is so innovative. I love all her ideas, just too bad I cannot imitate most of her approaches.

  • Again so beautiful played. It's FANTASTIC!

  • Эти два слова -- Valentina Lisitsa -- это ЗНАК КАЧЕСТВА!!! Это как высшая проба золота. Спасибо!!!

  • That would be funny to actually hear this piece played in a minute though. Any musicality it originally had would be gone, but it would still be fun to hear. Just my thoughts...

  • I do remembered that the name of this piece is called sth dog barking or puppy playing around......anyone?

  • @svaellmen Valentina explains it in the caption of the video. The story told us that Chopin, seeing a dog trying to catch its tail, circlingon itself, has been inspired to write this piece of music. And this story corresponds with the music. enjoy !

  • I think this performance is wonderful. While Valentina does it play very fast, that's her general style and it's not vulgar at all. I also like that she didn't extend the trill longer than it should have. And really, it's such a beautiful performance by a true virtuoso.

  • 6 people are deaf

  • Very nice, very nice indeed... I play this myself, so I'm confident when I say that this is nothing short of an excellent performance! :D

  • Bästa interpretation hittills!

  • When I visited Paris in '99, I went to Chopin's grave. Fresh flowers bedecked his stone and plot. Some visitors had left notes...

What might I add? In the silence there, in my moment to leave something with the composer...I suddenly had my answer. Grabbing a scrap of paper, I wrote..."I promise you, some day, I will play it the way you meant it to be heard."

Frederic, I'm not there yet....but I'm getting closer....

  • DO U HAVE UR EYES CLOSED???

  • fantastic ... just perfect

  • So many subtle nuances that make it all work. I love it. :)

  • DON'T FEED THE TROLLS

  • Why is it called the 1 minute waltz?

  • @gsprpltv Even if you're trying to make a joke, you just sound like an idiot. :(

  • @gsprpltv I hope you are joking.

  • @Hanna6412 sorry I've written it wrong... I wanted to ask: do you live in the UK?

  • @Hanna6412 wow! I'm 15 and I live in switzerland and I play this pice (don't know how to write xD) to :). Where do you live? in the UK well, I'm in grade 10... So...I just wanted to tell haha xD?

  • I love the middle Sostenuto portion .... but to my ears the opening is much much too fast .... she has amazing dexterity but I have the feeling that it's too much show and the music has been sacrificed. But she proves her wonderful musicality in the gently flowing middle portion. Gorgeous.

  • Amaazzzingggggggggg.... first time I actually enjoy this Valse :D

  • Oh, and I'm in no way saying "Asians just try to fit stereotypes, they're DUMB!" I'm only expressing a point that we only tend to see patterns we have learned to recognize, one of which being Asiatic people displaying incredible feats. Also, note that in many - if not most - videos of people "performing" a piece of piano music are doing so really, really quickly, and that music is not about speed. Unless you want it to be! Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, and music is no exception.

  • @Zeuta1 Great comments, timelessly true.

  • Or I'm just crazy and Asian people are awesome at everything! ^.^

  • Haha, to those who commented about her not be Asian; I think the reason we all assume Asiatic people are so incredible at everything is because it's simply a stereotype that people - in this case, people of Asian descent - will try to fit. In truth, it's not that every Asian person you see playing piano on YouTube will become a famous concert pianist, but rather, there is a general skill level many, many people have - of all walks of life - that many Asian people display to fit the stereotype.

  • @Zeuta1 Yes, agreed. We Asians tend to excel because we force ourselves to -- for example, an Asian would memorize this score and obey all the instructions therein, until he could replicate it perfectly. But the trouble with such an approach (I think it's an Asian thing) is that there's very little feeling/heart involved. It'd be technically perfect, of course, but there'd probably be a slight hollowness to it. Perfect example: Lang Lang.

  • @dkix89 lol, lang lang is way apart from playing perfect, but he tries to play with feeling. anyway valentina is the best

  • @Zeuta1 yea it's a bias, no need to explain the obvious...

  • @Hannah6412 OMG SAME HERE! well I already learned it but 10 times slower. And I'm 14 too

  • FINALLY A PERSON WHOS NOT ASIAN AND IS AMAZING AT PIANO!!!!

  • @yankeesrock1997

you know this song and nearly every damn one composed were composed by a European. That is the true genius.

  • Ah, how I wish I could somehow play it just like you.

  • how can 4 people dislike this!?

  • @ValentinaLisitsa I'm 14, and getting back into the piano and classical music, and I learned something; you don't curve your fingers when you play! Is this a different type of style to play the piano?

  • @L0rdDark she didn't curve her hand, even if she did she needs to reach the keys.. so there must be a curve :-)

  • i guess that you need i life to learn and play this properly...

  • 素晴らしい。

  • watch?v=rWR44As38iE

I liked the other video better than this. Especially the later part from 1:13

Sharp ups and downs in pace sound great.. especially when you play it so well.

  • Moy dorogoya Valentina: Thanks for share your work with the audience. Kindest regards from Buenos Aires.-

  • Looks amazing in 1080p :D

  • I'm 14. I'm supposed to learn this. I'm totally failing.

  • @Hannah6412 I'm 15, and I dont think im going to attempt it, what grade are you?

  • @llToml eighth. Well, going into ninth. My piano teacher loves me and expects a lot from me hahah

  • @Hannah6412 Thats Ace! I didn't know they're was a grade 9?

  • @llToml Thanks! What do you mean you didn't know there was a grade 9?

  • @Hannah6412 In the UK It only goes up to grade 8 I'm sure.

  • I love the interpretation. It was so novel.....fresh idea for me to copy.....

  • So magical!

  • Really awesome! Wonderful

  • Anyone who fails to apprehend and appreciate the musicality of this performance stands upon a lower musical plane. Chopin is listening - and he is pleased.

  • No one seems to be surprised at how FUCKING INTENSE this is o.o

    ...This is FUCKING INTENSE!!

  • I love you, can you come to australia?

  • I thought you would be hiding this somewhere!

  • LOL i have the song right in front of me and i'm trying to keep up with your super fast fingers!

  • y does the song goes like this-fast then slow then fast back...anyway im learning this song

  • WHOA. that is fast.. you play this piece like its child play. Well done! :D

  • She is playing this way too fast !

  • valentina i just wanan ask me something?! what the hell!!!

at 1:13 and 1:14 !!! where is the power of the bass???????? the lower and powerfull re bemol of the bass???

is that a modest playing in which edition @ValentinaLisitsa ?

  • Beautifully played, as usual!

As a child, I used to listen to this, imagining a ballerina dancing onstage. I suppose the little dog imagery works, too!

  • @anupaum me too, I imagine a lot that picture of a ballerina! It works perfectly on some musics : D

  • Great vid!

  • You're my idol for this song. I'm playing it... but only at 1/1000000ths of your speed...

    so fabulous.

  • WATTA FAST TRILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!awesome!!!!!!!!!11

  • AMAZING..

  • @BroRJ1 what? Is that a joke or stg ?

  • WOW .. YOU ARE amazing !!! You might had start play piano at 4 ?

  • nice one what is your tecnique to have a faster hands???? pls answer

  • @MrJeremiahValenzuela her hands are very strong due to years of practice.

  • @BroRJ1 Very funny. It was never meant to be played in a minute. But when you feel able to pull off a recognizable 58 sec version, please upload it. It's fun as an experiment or a joke. Personally I think Valentina's Minute Waltz is one of the best, it always makes me smile, although the live encore version was perhaps even more joyful.

  • @BroRJ1

    in fact yours' horrible

minute valse with lots of mistakes

    you destroyed the song lol

  • Will you ever come to Turkey ?

  • Just Perfect ! :D

  • Valentina, I just would like to say that the sound quality for your videos is excellent, and to not have great sound quality like you do would not do your beautiful playing justice.

    Keep up the great work!

  • @AJMZ13 And keep sharing your work with us in YTube! :)

  • This was really awesome! I can play this song too, but not as good as you!

  • It was given the name "Minute" by the publisher, referring to its length.. Minute" can also be defined as "small", "miniscule", and it's pronounced "my NOOT" if used this way. Unfortunately, the English misinterpreted to be the more common definition (e.g. 60 seconds), and it's stayed with us that way.

As usual the performer stamps this work with her own individual interpretation, which is imaginative and excellent.

  • wow! 1:40 scary! lool u go valentina !

  • Thank you so much Valentina! This song always brings a smile to my face when I hear you play it :)

  • You`re a perfect pianist, for me you`re the best pianist in the planet! Thank`s for posting all your videos, they`re all awesome!

  • You remind me of playing this piece when I was little! :)

  • :)

That's it. That's my face right now.

  • About the camera, I'd like to see both hands, I know, I can see them, but in other angle that let us see your right hand...that would be perfect! Thanks!

  • I loved it =D!! I though it was called: "The happy dog" that's a funny name too ;P!! Thank you so much for sharing this performance Valentina =D!! I love your playing =D!

  • Fantastic as always! I started working this up not long ago and I love your interpretation of it! Thanks for the little history. I've been trying to convince my classmates of the truth about this waltz and they think I'm full of bologna. Now I have a really good example from somebody with much better credentials than I have!

  • I live in Japan as well, and would love to come see you play, but I can't find dates/locations on your website. If its in Japanese, I can't read Japanese 'cause I'm a bakka gaijin! ;0)

  • Your piano work in beautiful. Thank you for posting this very education material on YouTube. I am a high school music teacher and have been showing your videos to my music appreciation class - particularly your interpretations of Chopin! Love it! :)

  • Since you seem receptive to suggestions would you consider playing Liszt's Mephisto Waltz (not sure the exact name). I've seen several different interpretations on youtube and I'm intensely curious to hear how you would play it.

  • Are you uploading more Beethoven Sonatas??? Please answer...

  • When can we see a ballade ? T_T anyway I love every Chopin piece in your hands

  • Oh! this is the only one Chopin waltz i've learnt some years ago!! ♥

    thank you Vale ^_^

  • you're chopinista :D i loved the scale at the coda and the tempo variations atabout 1:33 .... btw just wanted to ask... after that long trill, it is a Dflat an octave lower... at 1:13 .... and the final chord, Dflat though, is slightly different in the score... did you improvise them on spot?

  • You lshould learn some Alkan. That is some eye/ear candy.

  • beautiful...

  • This is my favorite performance of this piece. Many of my favorite performances are yours. Who is/was your favorite pianist(s)

  • Hey Val, in my Peter's Edition, the very first note is a plain note - not a trill, and the very last R.H. chord is lower than yours. What gives?

  • :) I played this for my dog, (a German Shepherd) and she laid her ears back and "smiled" ...before she decided she couldn't sit still for even 1:49, that is!

  • Pity I only knew this as "the Cooking with Dog song". Beautiful as always :)

  • Yes on this waltz Val, you did a great job.

Everything is there, the poetry, the charm, the right emotion, the spontaneous feeling and the precise understand of the piece performed.

    Best Regards,

    Saul Dzorelashvili

  • Awesome... as always! ;)

  • Incredible.

Thank you for uploading. I'm looking forward to your next video. =]

  • Fantastic!! So delicate *_*

  • What a beautiful thing if I were able to play the piano

like you! You're fantastic! Greetings from Italy! Byeee!! =)

  • This piece taught me that the best way to learn a fast piece is to practice slow. :-)

P.S. I hope you record/upload the rest of the studio recording of Rachmaninoff's Piano Sonata 1 soon! I can't wait!

  • I loved the end!

  • genial!

  • @MrFernandoPJR Given a room - and some coffee - she practices 12-14 hours a day, whenever she has the chance. She said this in some interview or in a youtube-comment (I can't remember correctly where...) 12-14 hours... Now that's a LOT of hours :D

  • OMG, Valentina are u online? I just wanna say hi! haha..

  • Hi Valentina,

I love the way you pick up the tempo with the repeat of the secondary theme (the iteration with the octave grace notes). It really gives it more tension doesn't it?

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice! (the piece and the pianist ;)

    Greeting from France!

  • Dear Valentina, You made me fall in love with Chopin's Etudes, You tranced me Rachmaninoff Little Red Riding Hood, and lifeted my spirits with this Valse... Will you marry me?

Nahhh just kidding, but seriously you've inspired me so much, at lunch i run to the local community center to play piano on my lunch break. who needs food when you have piano!

  • Awesome Val! When we can see the Op. 64 #2 ?

  • @RenanGarciaMoura How about right now???

Opening it - from the airport.

  • Thank you for Valentina, the upload of the first animation of this year.

Was settled down to the waltz of the puppy which listened to so far; is played. I look forward to a concert in Japan of March very much.

All your animations almost add plus evaluation to all animations in a favorite. Please upload a lot of animations this year.

  • @mamakokonao I am sooooooo looking forward to Japan tour in March!

  • @ValentinaLisitsa pls answer me why are u so good?very good? ecxellent? hard player?expert?over expert?:P

  • @mamakokonao

The hell. animation??? whered this foe come from?

  • What a great thing to start my day with! Crystalline as always.

  • Can you improvise ?

  • @EyeWarrior0545 Not on purpose :-) LOL

  • fantastic as always

  • wonderful!

please record schubert/liszt - erlkönig and upload it! there aren't any "great" versions on youtube!

  • @mortalfrog0815 Order accepted ! it takes triple dose of Starbuck though ...

  • Oh thank god, a new Valentina-video! I check YouTube every day just to see if new pieces have been uploaded - and today was a nice surprise. Recently I've been so desperate that I've searched your playing from other channels -with small results (including a scarbo-performance with a woman reading poetry at the same time). Hopefully we see new videos soon! :-)

  • @belegSJ try PieterdeRooijHolland channel there are waaaaay more clips there :-)

  • Bravo, i love this waltz beyond any other, and you express it as good as Borge did.

  • Hi Valentina, do you do jazz? =)

  • @reu91 I think jazz coming out of Eastern Europeans is atrocious :-) I never ventured beyond Rhapsdy in Blue

  • @ValentinaLisitsa "I think jazz coming out of Eastern Europeans is atrocious" oh you should really check out Marcin Wasilewski from poland. just google him and you won't be disappointed I promise!

  • Beautiful. It's always so interesting listening to Chopin by you.

Is this the usual Bonsendorfer, right? Maybe it doesnt suit well for this graceful composition as for the Polonaises...

  • @FabioGhibli Steinway Hamburg

  • @ValentinaLisitsa

    I was mistaken... what a shame... -_-

I thought you always made recordings on Bosendorfer.

But it's an unusually hollow Steinway.

    Sure. Ahem... ^ ^'

  • Stupendous,marvellous dear Valentina!!!!Kisses Perla.

  • finally, you uploaded a new video!! I can't remember how many times I checked out your youtube channel for new videos. Pathetic, am i not?

  • @pianista151 Are you subscribed to this channel? I think YT sends authomatic notifications to subscribers of any new videos.

  • @pianista151 Are you subscribed to this channel? I think YT sends authomatic notifications to subscribers of any new videos.

  • @ValentinaLisitsa Oh, I have just subscribed.. i'm kinda new to youtube..

  • Please come to the UK soon! I would love to hear you do the totentanz with the orchestra or Rach3. I see you're doin Saint Saens piano concerto no. 2 in America. You are spoiling those guys!

  • lovely!!you play it wonderfully!!!

  • What a nice interpretation! Thank you very much for sharing these wonderful performances, you're a wonderful interpreter of Chopin! ♥

BTW, I agree with @ithaca1017, you should play some Charles-Valentin Alkan! He was such a fascinating and unique composer, just as great as Chopin or Liszt were, but unfortunately he's forgotten... I think you would love his pieces, like his op. 15 (eg. No. 2, Le Vent: /watch?v=BGbm2F8NNxE), op. 39 (eg. /watch?v=5hQ1D-6nZ7c) or Grand Duo (/watch?v=4fkiZWChH-g9)!

  • @madlovba2 Sorry guys , I don't do Alkan for personal reasons - trust me it has nothing to do with his music , but with an argument I had with another person years ago .... I am a stubborn , head-strong lady :-)

  • @ValentinaLisitsa I'm very sorry to hear that you don't do Alkan. Your videos are amazing, and I think that you are probably one of the few artists out there with the technical ability and interpretive prowess to do Alkan justice. Shame on whoever it was that put you off of Alkan! He/she has done the world a huge disservice. Anyway, I will continue to enjoy the gems you decide to upload...and hopefully someday I can catch a concert of yours (ever play Halifax, NS?).

  • love the description valentina! keep it up please!

  • Great! I really like your performances, and wonderful sound BTW.

    Best wishes, Frank

  • Great stuff:) Do you play any Alkan? I'd love to hear how you interpret some of his pieces...
