I was at this race with my good friend Steve. I remember it well. We camped the weekend and caught qualifing and the race on Sunday. I have lots of pictures. We lost Steve to cancer in January of 2010. Brings back great memories. Where has all of the time gone?
I worked at this race. This is the !st annual AHRA Summer Nationals. It was truly wonderful....York US30 also held the !st annual NHRA Summer Nationals! This summer York shifted to all sanctions,NHRA,IHRAUHRA,AHRA,then back to NHRA!
What a joy to see all those old cars from my mid-teenage years. We'd see most of them in Phoenix at Beeline in the winter. Thank you for posting. Joel in Tucson
I was a soph in h.s. in '71. Tucson, Az. was home (is) and was an AHRA track. Two hours up the road near Phnx. Beeline Dragway had the Winternationals. I was there in '71. At 2:13, the Mr. Bardahl Camaro.....God, he ruled his class. What was his name?
The old gear jamming days. You could always smell clutch dust in the air in those days.

@naderchaser Your right I enlarged it and it was a two door Maverick , When I saw them at the Track they were using a four door.
