I could never understand why Jor-El would punish Superman for falling in love, as he said to his son, Live as one of them.

Surely the real punishment would have been that it was forbidden for Superman to interfere with human history which he clearly did twice, if you include the stupid re cut ending.

I appreciate the enhanced picture quality but why do the big wigs think that the modern electronic tribal bullshit 'film score' music somehow conveys the emotion any better to the up and comings who haven't seen this?

Tip: it doesn't match up with the scenes AT ALL. Makes Superman II look like another run of the miller like the guys who OK'd this music tend to make.

Keep the digital clean-up and drown the music in a stream somewhere.

This cut of the movie was a lot better! General Zod kicks so much more ass and really is evil.

Gene Hackman made Lex Luthor, he was a real sleeze ball con man that made you love him and hate him at the same time. You could always see the wheels turning.

Some scenes like ''You think i am, superman'' 'are from the real Superman II of Richard Donner.

The scene with Lois and Clark in tuxedo is from the screen test for Lois Lane for Superman, it was a scene writted for Superman II.

The thing was that Superman: The Movie, and Superman II, both filmed simultaneously, around 75% of II was finished when the producers decided to stop and premiere I only. Donner was fired because he and the produce have tensions, Lester came, and redo it most of II.

My ideal Superman II (Donner) would be a shot of Lex Luthor walking into the daily planet and then we see Zod saying "this is the son of Jor el ?" with Jimmy then saying "No, but i bet you're a son of a b- then we see a montage of Superman fighting and saving and finally the title Superman II while hearing Zod shout "Free"

Why must all modern movies be reduced to gothic GOD like sounding scores? I am getting really burned out on today's features. I remember seeing the original S2 trailer on tv. The Lester's version is a prettifully made movie, a good entertainment but I think the Donner's Cut is a better at the level of narrative and epic spirit.

Okay trailer and let me explain why. While the editing and music choice were top notch. The trailer was a complete summary of the entire movies. The trailer should be spliced to create a feeling or short story, but not the literal story. It felt more like a trailer for folks who have seen the film, generally trailers are supposed to make you want to see it, not make you think of the whole plot again.
