@doc1917 If you go along with this dickheads definition of Nihilism, I'd say that you're the "idiot" in idiot. Now, if you have an intellectual defense of what your hero here had to say, bring it on, dazzle me with your brilliance.
@tripleJ1955 exactly i'm on to tonight's state of union not last year. my comment was about you not defining your reasoning on why brooks doesn't know what he is talking about. My point was simple to people that say someone else that they are the i in idiot that there is more then one i in idiot. i wasn't saying i knew anything about Nihilism. Why you think brooks is my hero is a huge stretch. If you comment on this comment lets see if you can so without naming calling.
@doc1917 I'm never looking to be disrespectful of the comments that others post, but when it seemed I'd been called an idiot for my assessment of Brooks mental acuity, I assumed that your inference that I'm less than educated, was in defense of Mr. Brooks, ergo, he must be your hero. In the future, if you what you want is the definition of a comment, just ask for it rather than posing an open ended question that is wide open to interpretation and you may just get an answer.
@tripleJ1955 i agree with mark shields more often but i hope i can listen to other opinions like that of david brooks I hope i could listen to your opinion as well. All i saw coming from your first comment was name calling not a fair comment on why you disagree with him. I return the favor. Since that seem the level of discourse you were using. My mistake.
funny thing about liberals is they are so about freedom of speech and being open minded, yet they defend the party that has plainly gone for more control of speech more control of your income, and encourage more dependence on govt rather than independence yet somehow liberals still claim to be the party of freedom and being open minded. I have found one consistent truth about liberals and that is they are not open minded at all to outside idea and thought in fact dissent is hatefully ridiculed.
@aurick7737 Neither Republicans nor Democrats belong to the party that represents freedom. Also, just because one is liberal does not make that person a Democrat; same goes for someone who is conservative not necessarily being a Republican. People need to stop generalizing this idea of "liberals and conservatives" and pin it down to "Republicans and Democrats."
@aurick7737 .wow, jsut wow.way to competely lump everyone together.IN the same way conservatives are all just one lump of clowns who believe in creationism and thinkt he goverment i out to kill them?no.
David Brooks is an Iluminist monkey and a true enemy of the American people. He will have his day of trial when the We the People toss these MF'ERS out on the street. This time the Revolution Will be Televised.
taineasy-Did you know that David Brooks is a republican ? Mark Shields who is sitting beside him is the dem. So, are you saying repubs will be tossed out or do you simply have no idea what you are talking about ?
@urparanoia no, he is a neocon, and neocons are not conservatives. they are all ex-liberals who didn´t like the democratic foreign policy. neocons are in love with war and israel
@AyaxTelemonio -Actually neocons are conserves. It wasn't until after the failed policies of the Dubya administration that righties started throwing their own under the buss in an attempt to save face by claiming those who they had previously claimed were conserves were not conserves. Look, neocons are anything but "ex liberals" you fool. Look at what they do while in office.Their agenda is typical conservatism from start to finish. Reagan gave us the S+L crisis and Dubya the financial meltdown.
@urparanoia try to make an investigation: krauthammer, kristol father and son, this guy Brooks, all of them were liberals. neocons are exliberals who were disatisfied with the left wing foreign policy. they infiltrated in the republican party because they can use the supposed superior patriotism of the republicans to promote war in the middle east. remember that it was Johnson the one who entered in the vietnam war. the republican party was isolationist during the two world wars.
@urparanoia neocons believe in multiculturalism and promotion of democracy in the islamic world. a true conservative will never believe in that bulshit. Russell Kirk said during the gulf war that conservative people should never support international wars.
@AyaxTelemonio -So you are trying to tell me that Dubya, Cheney and Wolfowitz believed in liberalism ? Evidently you don't know the history of these guys or their ancestors. Buddy you couldn't be more wrong. When conservatives say that conservatives shouldn't support war and they do it doesn't mean they were liberals. I have read many wacked out comments from conservatives on this venue but yours is so far out to lunch that it is difficult to believe that you are serious.
@AyaxTelemonio -Conserves actually believe that the bigger the government contract to those who make weapons of war the better. Eisenhower warned of the power of the military industrial complex and the conservatives have ignored such warnings to increase Wall Street profits. There is BIG money in killing people and in case you haven't noticed it is the conservatives that have fought to keep the military budget elevated and have increased such spending in a big way. What is wrong with your head ?
@urparanoia obama has rised the military budget. is he a conservative? lol. please, learn about what is neoconservatism, they are liberal republicans.
@AyaxTelemonio -I know exactly what a neocon is but obviously you haven't a clue. As for the military budget if you want to see a HUGE increase take a look at what a conservative senate, house and president did during the Dubya administration.
Shouldn't we always refer to them as "banana Republicans," not Republicans?
Who else but "banana Republicans" could support unlimited executive power, family dynasties (Duvaliers, Bushes), secret renditions to torture chambers, mercenary armies, 100-year wars, warrantless wiretaps, McCarthyite witch hunts, and the end of habeas corpus?
You'd have to want to live in a banana republic.
Forget the elephant, Republicans, here comes the chaquita!
jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats. jindal blows dead rats.
@padude64 you are wrong wrong wrong,,,you are politically ignorant,,,Bush and Cheney are not Republicans,,,they are neo cons,,,ron paul is a republican do u see the difference between real conservative gov and fake neo cons who infiltrated???? read a few books
@padude64 evil party who wants funds...as opposed to the democrats who DO NOTHING BUT SPEND YOUR MONEY AND CONTINUE TO TAKE MORE AND MORE!!! why dont you look into the death tax from your lovely liberals...the death tax is one of the most disgusting things in this country...
We're taking more advice from Neoconservatives I see.
When are we going to figure out that listening to these guys about anything is a little bit like taking tips on how to treat women from Chris Brown.
We crashed the GOP and now we'd like to play with democrats so we'll get hip, sound reasonable until we're at the steering wheel again and we can recommend nuking Iran with a straight face.
Jindal is giving 50 million dollars to a private chicken plant, 85 millions to a private football team, 30 million to a chemical plant and over 20 million to a private hotel.
Jindal is a fraud and only cares about his friends.
Jindal is giving 50 million dollars to a private chicken plant, 85 millions to a private football team, 30 million to a chemical plant and over 20 million to a private hotel
So no Republican would ever cheat on his wife ever?
Gov. Sanford (R-SC)
Sen. Ensign (R-NV)
Rep. Souder (R-IN)
There's examples from three political offices, all occurring within the past two years (Rep. Souder even resigned last month as a result).
Now you are entitled to your own opinion about whether Republicans are better than Democrats, but you are not entitled to your own facts about whether members of the Republican party have been cheating on their spouses.
I think he meant that it gives the impression of nihilism, not that it is actual nihilism. You couldn't possibly have a nihilist politician, why would he run for office?
must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved srry
When Forrest Gump was quoted saying "Stupid is....as Stupid Does" was he personally referring to W, Scarah Failin, Ban Coulter, Flush Dimbaugh, Cheney, Jindal, Rove, Nitt-Witt-Mitt Romney, OR the entire dumb-shit RepubliCON clan?
A SPECIAL thanks to the above hypocritical morons for making the RepubliCON Party nearly extinct!

JAN 20, 2009 - THE END OF AN ERA.....I MEAN ERROR! ~S. Hannity
Ultra right wing Christian fundamentalist ready to ditch the constitution in favor of the Bible is the cancer of the Republican Party. In 2009, who in his right mind would, for even an instant, consider giving the nuke codes to someone who believe the Earth is 10 000 years old, in creationism and all that kind of shit. Seriously...**give me a fucking break**. 13th century dark ages fools are among us. How can we STILL be afflicted by this insane collective delusion called religion is beyond me.
@UTUBESUCK666 who exactally have you ever heard say such a thing? please give me one example of ANY conservative who wants to even ammend the constitution,,,neocons are not republicans
@candiceevans1 .get the fuck out of america?lol have you even read the constitution??freedom of religion?yes american presidents have been christian or claimed to be anyway, but thats different from being a creationist you fool.Francis collins is also a christian and roud at that but he is actually smart enough to know how stupid creationism is and mocks it all the way.Besides the "christian" leaders hardly practise what they preach.war, infidelity, more war, slavery, segregation, even more war rofl.
@UTUBESUCK666 btw nobody I know believes the earth is 10000 yrs old stop getting info fr youtube and maybe youll learn something,,,youre are sheep and a dumbass,,,,
@UTUBESUCK666 hey genuis there is a HUGE flaw with your whole argument starting from the first sentence where you talk about ditching the constitution for the bible...well news flash bud, the constitution was written by right wing Christian fundamentalist. The whole basis and the majority of our laws come from the Bible as well genuis.....sooooo nice try but you fail! I l
@aurick7737 .rofl omg. right wing fundamentalists?????lol you don know shit about the founding fathers fool.jefferson?adams?thomas freaking paine?jefferson is the man who REWROTE his own version of the new testament and stripped out all the pathetic fairy tales and bullshit stories to tell the actuall morlas of the story.jefferson himself was completely against fools who took the bible literally.you cleary dont know shit about america,do you?
@UTUBESUCK666 i also love how you have this obvious disdain for "religion" which by the way Christians arent religious we are just Christians, we in fact cant stand "religion", anyway you show this disdain for religion in your statement yet have 666 in your user name as if it is somehow a representation of you to the world and what your about.....well again HUGE flaw. to believe in the devil it is impossible not to believe in Christ. sorry but again you fail and expose yourself to be a phony.
@UTUBESUCK666: I Bet the constitution, 10 bill of rights (negative rights), is inspired from the Bible. It's prolly a reason for many conservative, or libertarians, being christian - yet wanting a very small ammount of government. I would rather call you old-fashioned and religious, cause its back in the days of 13th centurary there were huge govt who were owning men like slaves. We are going back to this, through democracy and politics. sadly.
form of nihilism? Nihilism states that life has no meaning or value, and that existence is worthless. What does that have to do with government corruption?
The GOP has no credibility on the issue of fiscal responsibility. They want the American people to forget the eight years of the Bush Administration and the RECORD deficit under him. Interestingly enough, the GOP only became "concerned" about deficits on 1/20/09. ~Ban Coulter
The republican party will survive only if it purges itself of religious zealots and xenophobes, and embraces true conservative values such as small government (for real, not just saying small government and then growing it at never before seen levels). The GOP has to stop dragging out pro life 2nd amendment paranoia and flag burning debates and worry about real things. In essence, become a more fiscally conservative group of centrists. Not deliberately obtuse blowhards bent on a wartime economy.
*****The Republican Party will find it's way again and become popular again IF and ONLY if they start lightening to Ron Paul and the libertarians who are the ones with the new ideas that have the populist appeal and the "vision thing' to excite young people who are bored and demobilized with the current neocon ruling crop.
When Jindal took office , he promised never, to endorse candidates in legislative races.
But that was before Lee Domingue, who had donated $116,000 to Jindals campaign and associated causes. It is very unusual for a governor to intervene in a local primary, but Jindal up and endorsed Domingue over two other Republicans.
Republican Dan Claitor won this past saturday, by 66 percent of the vote, showing Jindals endorsement is the kiss of death. Everyone Jindal endorses, lose
On Monday Apr 6 2009, the State Republican Party sent out a press release supporting Republican Clyde Holloway in the run-off for the Public Service Commission seat
Bobby Jindal is supporting Democratic State Senator Joe McPherson in this race.
Even the Louisiana republican party knows Jindal is a fraud.
Governor Piyush Amrit Jindal just turned down the health care stimulus but he is taking care of his rich friends.
Governor Piyush Amrit Jindal administrations spending plans for a $414 million economic development fund.
For a chicken plant, The Shaw Group and two New Orleans area projects.
Using the money for the poultry industry and The Shaw Group would require the Legislature to revamp the state law . Piyush Amrit Jindal has no problem changing the law to benefit his rich friends
It really amuses me to read these comments. I often make the following observation; Someone will make an educated sounding, well written statement, and someone else (in total disagreement) will respond to that post in a rant which includes no capital letters, barely identifyable sentences and poor grammer. Come on people, if you rail on someone about how stupid and uneducated they are, write properly. Your terrible english only makes YOU look like the ass!
Politics aside, quite a few people on this thread have commented on Jindal changing his name. Well, I have spent a lot of time in India and changing ones name is a common practice, especially if you convert to another religion, which he did (catholicism). Most Indian names are reflective of the many, many Hindu gods, and therefore people often change their names to identify with their new religion. It has nothing to do with shame at all. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Governor Piyush Amrit Jindal just made a deal to pay for a chicken plant that does not have to pay the taxpayers back, for only 50 million taxpayers dollars.
Governor Piyush Amrit Jindal a fake republican conservative. Jindal takes good care of rich friends.
Since taking office last year, Gov. Bobby Jindal has appointed more than 200 of his top contributors to influential boards and commissions, proving that 'ethics' has a limit — and a price.
I guess that would explain why he is travling so much.
Gov. Piyush Amrit Jindal is flying to Paradise Valley, Ariz., today to attend a fundraiser for his gubernatorial re-election campaign, his office announced.
He also has traveled to Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia to raise money for his 2011 re-election bid. He also had traveled to Iowa, the first caucus state in presidential election years.
The GOP is an absolute train wreck. If any of these jokers are looking for work in 2010/2012,as I'm sure they will be, they can change the oil in my car(that is assuming they don't steal the oil first)
government is the spender of last resort. if the financial institution are not working , government can spend money in order to rescue and reduce the demage to the overall economy. republicans want more taxes for the rich. obama is going suprise his critics, jindal and friends are going to find out that their ideas are out ot touch with reality. by having jindal and mr steel as the top republican leaders tells you that the party does not get it. change your ideas not leadership
So are there more Dems living off the Gov. who has those statistics. I am sure that timre will show that the Dems will be a good change for our government. I suspect a lot of folks will be needing government intervention with massive job losses. I hope youy are not one of them. This nations fed government sometimes needs to intervene to secure the social welfare of this nation. Read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Pray you do not need any help oh self rightous one.
inky, I can appreciate your backround, education, experiences. Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt. I don't always agree with Republicans but I rarely agree with Democrats. Unfortunately, Republicans CAN lose their way. Democrats can never lose their way because their way is whatever way the wind is blowing. In the spirit of better understanding my Liberal friends I have begun saying "I support President Obama, but not his policy" I borrowed it from Dems=Troops/Iraq. Does it make sense?
I'm not sure I agree that there is no lurch to the left. I agree that there has been a drift towards socialism for quite some time. It can happen anytime American principles give way to emotion and corruption.
American principles are that people can;t be allowed to starve to death. People can;t walk around with open sores. People need to earn enough income at even the most basic job to support themselves. Those are American principles. The 'wild west' only existed for about 20 years. I don't understand how the concept of community got lost. The earliest and most conservative Americans took care of everyone as a member of the community. Poor, ill, indigent. Everyone was given help.
You are describing the US in the next few years if Obama is allowed to bring his vision of a socialist/Marxist our country. Thank you for reminding us that the most conservative Americans took care of everyone as a member of the community. Too bad the Dems brought government into the mix so they could control the masses and create their own form of slavery by making people dependent on them by giving them other people's money.
He knows that Dems living off the government will vote for him, for example, Louisiana. It's a pretty sure bet he can get the rest of the country to understand what liberalism has done to them as well.
I knew your dialogue would eventually devolve into an attack on my intelligence. I have witnessed this playbook my entire short life. It is a typical, often used Democratic Party ploy. When you can no longer win on substance, attack the messenger and not the message. This is clinton's go to strategy e.g. Linda Tripp, Paula Jones, 'vast right wing conspiracy', so I understand why you think this is acceptable.
Dems are certainly making a mess of things and thinking people are noticing their lives getting worse under the Obama agenda. Unions running health care equals a picture so frightening people will certainly end the socialist lurch to the left.
There's no "lurch to the left"-that's just dogmatic bullshit. The country has been in the throes of corporatism/socialism for 25 years or more now, regardless of which party is in control. It's about consolidating power-no difference "left" or "right".
Please have an argument before calling anyone a liar. You aren't really making anymore sense than your first statement. Again, explain your clever words so that they have the impact I'm sure you thought they did.
Back to the facts, it is the Dems that have taken the mantle of Nazism with their infanticide and "health care" that will ensure the elderly are quickly done away with to help keep costs down. It's truly a shame that people believe that they care at all.
The Republicans have shaped most of our social policies after the civil rights era. This country has gone into moral decay since that time. Coincidence?
You parents who drive SUV's and have too may kids oughtta watch your kids or stop having kids because they are either suspended from school, in detention or pooping on the restroom floor! How sick can you get!
Jindal was a disaster, I agree. But we are missing the point.. Obama introduce biggest spending bill, it was supposed to be bipartition bill and it is not. Republican should go on record that they opposed it.
I'm pretty sure they DID go on record as such. The reason they are going to oppose everything from now until 2012 is (as mentioned in the clip) nihilism: they want to go on record as saying they opposed everything, and in so doing, might put roadblocks in Obamas (and Americas) way so that the country goes to shit. They figure they might get elected in 2012, in so doing.
Nihilism. And anti-American.
Btw. Didn't John McCain say he knew where Obama was? Why doesn't he tell us, then?
I'm sure glad Brooks has recanted his belief that Obama would govern from the middle. Brooks is now saddened that Obama has taken the country to the left so far it resembles socialism. A little late, Mr. Brooks...
Jindal just needs to keep doing for the Louisiana people what was needed for the last 40 years. Give them hope and change from the devastation caused by liberal corruption and government subsiding instead of hope for a better life and change from poverty.
Wall Street and Main Street are so intertwined you cannot help or hurt one without helping or hurting the other... "Big Wig" businessmen and women are just average americans who have made it. We all dream of fancy cars, nice houses, and the comfort of not pinching every penny. We resent and dispise those we want to someday be. Tax the RICH!! Bullshit, might as well say, TAX MY BOSS, TAKE MY NEXT PROMOTION, AND SHIP MY JOB OVERSEAS
This guy is Such a stiff and Uncle Tom. He is trying to hard to blend in with his conservative base, which has NO business even saying anything right now, that he made a fool of himself. Be genuine, confident, and have some backbone dude-like Obama:)
Mr. Brooks, yes, Gov. Jindal's response was filled with typical, vanilla conservative values. Republicans rely on what I call the "epiphany moment". Many people never have it because it requires thoughtful personal reflection, and too many people I have met were indoctrinated at such an early age e.g. 'Republicans are for the rich and Democrats are for the regular guy' that to admit they have been duped for so long would be an embarrassing admission of prolonged self-centeredness and ignorance
The problem that Republicans have repudiating the stereotype that they are for the rich is because they keep playing to type.
It is mighty hard to find a Republican that isn't more concerned with profits for corporations, Wall Street, special tax breaks, oil drilling, and letting laissez-faire capitalism destroy anybody who is unfortunate and the environment to boot.
Those aren't vanilla values. They are a toxic poison we can't afford to ingest.
Inky, thank you for proving my point. You are a perfect example of someone indoctrinated early. Your "profits for corporations, Wall Street, special tax breaks" is precisely the kind of ignorance Democrats rely on. Furthermore, "letting laissez-faire capitalism destroy anybody who is unfortunate" doesn't make any sense. Who are these "unfortunate" people you are referencing? Please reread the last sentence of my earlier comment. It's not your fault, don't feel guilty.
Huh? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or stupid. I made my point in an earlier comment and inkyguy proceeded to post comments that supported my earlier claims. I guess you didn't take the time to read my earlier comment, coincidentally(not ironically), proves another of my points, which was, Liberals don't take the time to find out the truth or get the facts. Whatever...'Tax cuts for the Rich' (thats sarcasm)
Again with other people proving your points for you. Indeed, it's a good thing since your babbling doesn't have enough logical thinking, facts, or a basic grasp on reality to make them alone.
"Waaah, I'm a conservative! Waaaah!" Yeah, we get it. Have the dignity in defeat you never had in success.
rubino, something is getting mixed up in translation. Making an observation is worthless unless you can show proof e.g. if I called you a hypocrite I would then refer you to your earlier statement calling me a "waah waah" conservative (most would agree thats undignified) and how I should act more dignified. You were unable to go 3 sentences without contradicting your own advice. But, let me guess, that's only logical to me, and babble to you.
Zzzz. Y'know, when you post something, it is visible to everybody. So when you do, in fact, go "waah waaah I'm conservative", anyone who passes by can see it, whether you attempt to blatantly pretend you said something intelligent or not.
Actually, I was born to Republican parents, grew up evangelical Christian, went to Christian college, member of Teenage Republicans, College Republicans, attended Republican conventions. I saw, though, that Rebublicans had lost their way, were ruining the country, and it was a party I could no longer support.
Republicans have become a party of backward dogmatism, so I have to wonder which one of is indoctrinated.
inky, well thought out. No backsliding is allowed by the way. Liberalism has been made a swear-word by some people, but the fact is that Liberals and religion share a lot when it comes to compassion, sharing, and considering everyone as part of the family. I am not religious, but I wouldn't hold it against you that you are if you came to my house looking for help. I would help you without reservation. Try to run the country that way, and we can do wonders.
That's funny because conservatives in America give 30% more to charity than liberals. Voting for a politician who takes money from rich people and gives it to poor people doesn't count as compassion.
Let's just have a flat tax then. If you own any thing or concept and it earns you an income, you pay 30% of that income in taxes. Right now there are 2 tax systems, where 1 group pays 35%, and the other group pays 0-25%.
Aaaaaaahahahaha! Obama's housing plan won't help the hardest hit areas which are the outer states on the west and east coast and Chicago. CHANGE? You've got it, you'll be living on the streets while Obama pledges 900 million to rebuilt GAZA for his Hamas terrorist buddies.
Only homeowners in good standing whose loans are held by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac qualify. Read more at Yahoo Business News.
Startling comments by Brooks, but he's right. The Republicans have no plan. Even the "less government" plan lacks focus and is mired down in tired rhetoric.
If the Republicans want to gain back control they need to look beyond having to defend the poor decisions made by Bush and supported by the party over the last 8 years, and caving to Limbaugh, Hannity, Colter, etc. and move forward. They could start by listening to someone like Peter Schiff.
Actually, they are either going to have to defend the last 8 years -- and we all no that dog ain't gonna hunt -- or they are going to have to REPUDIATE the last eight years. Seems like they haven't made up their minds.
Barack Obama kept the name he was given at birth. Although his white grandparents used to call him Barry! He was not ashamed of the name his father chose for him. That shows strength of character!
Bobby used to be a very common nickname in South Asia. Hence Piyush Jindal also adopted it! His real name is Piyush but he changed it to Bobby to look more americanized! He also converted to catholicism when he was in high school.
In 1996 he married Supriya Jolly. Jolly is another popular nickname in South Asia! They have 3 children:
1. Selia Elizabeth
2. Shaan Robert
3. Slade Ryan
All three names have different surnames! Wonder why they didn't take Jindal as their surname? Ashamed?
Most of the 'republicans' making comments don't even belong to the party or know what conservatisim is, most of them think it means you believe in Jesus. This is what pandering to morons has reaped the GOP, a worthless political party. Through their ineptitude, these asswipes have failed our nation and left us with one party rule.
Half these RePUbs commenting here aren't even smart enough to know that David Brooks is one of the most respected CONSERVATIVE commentators out there.
"OMG that Palin thing didn't work. WTF are we going to do now?"
"We need a black guy! We need a black guy!"
"But we've already got one - Michael Steele"
"Nah. We need a new kinda black guy. Like that supermarket guy on The Simpsons. But one who'll do as he's told."
"Jindal!"
"Yeah. He'll do. Our dumb base are gonna love the way he talks down. Just like a 3rd Grade teacher. Yeah, I like it! Jindal 2012. It's a sure-fire winner! Yes sir-eee. Hot damn!"
Jindal is a joke. Republicans controlled Congress since 1994, and pushed de-regulation and tax breaks for the rich. During the horrific Bush years they spent like drunken sailors (so much for fiscal responsibility). And Jindal wants more of the same? Is he nuts?

@urparanoia no, he is a neocon, and neocons are not conservatives. they are all ex-liberals who didn´t like the democratic foreign policy. neocons are in love with war and israel
AyaxTelemonio 3 months ago
@AyaxTelemonio -Actually neocons are conserves. It wasn't until after the failed policies of the Dubya administration that righties started throwing their own under the buss in an attempt to save face by claiming those who they had previously claimed were conserves were not conserves. Look, neocons are anything but "ex liberals" you fool. Look at what they do while in office.Their agenda is typical conservatism from start to finish. Reagan gave us the S+L crisis and Dubya the financial meltdown.
urparanoia 3 months ago
@urparanoia try to make an investigation: krauthammer, kristol father and son, this guy Brooks, all of them were liberals. neocons are exliberals who were disatisfied with the left wing foreign policy. they infiltrated in the republican party because they can use the supposed superior patriotism of the republicans to promote war in the middle east. remember that it was Johnson the one who entered in the vietnam war. the republican party was isolationist during the two world wars.
AyaxTelemonio 3 months ago
@urparanoia neocons believe in multiculturalism and promotion of democracy in the islamic world. a true conservative will never believe in that bulshit. Russell Kirk said during the gulf war that conservative people should never support international wars.
AyaxTelemonio 3 months ago
@AyaxTelemonio -So you are trying to tell me that Dubya, Cheney and Wolfowitz believed in liberalism ? Evidently you don't know the history of these guys or their ancestors. Buddy you couldn't be more wrong. When conservatives say that conservatives shouldn't support war and they do it doesn't mean they were liberals. I have read many wacked out comments from conservatives on this venue but yours is so far out to lunch that it is difficult to believe that you are serious.
urparanoia 3 months ago
@AyaxTelemonio -Conserves actually believe that the bigger the government contract to those who make weapons of war the better. Eisenhower warned of the power of the military industrial complex and the conservatives have ignored such warnings to increase Wall Street profits. There is BIG money in killing people and in case you haven't noticed it is the conservatives that have fought to keep the military budget elevated and have increased such spending in a big way. What is wrong with your head ?
urparanoia 3 months ago
@urparanoia obama has rised the military budget. is he a conservative? lol. please, learn about what is neoconservatism, they are liberal republicans.
AyaxTelemonio 3 months ago

You'd have to want to live in a banana republic.

aurick7737 1 year ago
@UTUBESUCK666: I Bet the constitution, 10 bill of rights (negative rights), is inspired from the Bible. It's prolly a reason for many conservative, or libertarians, being christian - yet wanting a very small ammount of government. We are going back to this, through democracy and politics. sadly.

I'm not sure I agree that there is no lurch to the left. I agree that there has been a drift towards socialism for quite some time. It can happen anytime American principles give way to emotion and corruption.
truthinstyle 2 years ago
American principles are that people can;t be allowed to starve to death. People can;t walk around with open sores. People need to earn enough income at even the most basic job to support themselves. Those are American principles. The 'wild west' only existed for about 20 years. I don't understand how the concept of community got lost. The earliest and most conservative Americans took care of everyone as a member of the community. Poor, ill, indigent. Everyone was given help.

NokAppli 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure they DID go on record as such. The reason they are going to oppose everything from now until 2012 is (as mentioned in the clip) nihilism: they want to go on record as saying they opposed everything, and in so doing, might put roadblocks in Obamas (and Americas) way so that the country goes to shit. They figure they might get elected in 2012, in so doing.

Greatoldskoolsongs 2 years ago
Mr. Brooks, yes, Gov. Jindal's response was filled with typical, vanilla conservative values. Republicans rely on what I call the "epiphany moment". Many people never have it because it requires thoughtful personal reflection, and too many people I have met were indoctrinated at such an early age e.g. 'Republicans are for the rich and Democrats are for the regular guy' that to admit they have been duped for so long would be an embarrassing admission of prolonged self-centeredness and ignorance
dmdcreations 2 years ago
The problem that Republicans have repudiating the stereotype that they are for the rich is because they keep playing to type.
It is mighty hard to find a Republican that isn't more concerned with profits for corporations, Wall Street, special tax breaks, oil drilling, and letting laissez-faire capitalism destroy anybody who is unfortunate and the environment to boot.
Those aren't vanilla values. They are a toxic poison we can't afford to ingest.
inkyguy 2 years ago
Inky, thank you for proving my point. You are a perfect example of someone indoctrinated early. Your "profits for corporations, Wall Street, special tax breaks" is precisely the kind of ignorance Democrats rely on. Furthermore, "letting laissez-faire capitalism destroy anybody who is unfortunate" doesn't make any sense. Who are these "unfortunate" people you are referencing? Please reread the last sentence of my earlier comment. It's not your fault, don't feel guilty.
dmdcreations 2 years ago
"thank you for proving my point."
You guys say this a lot.
But at least SOMEONE made your point, since you seem incapable of doing it yourself.
rubino83 2 years ago
Whatever...'Tax cuts for the Rich' (thats sarcasm)
dmdcreations 2 years ago
Again with other people proving your points for you. Indeed, it's a good thing since your babbling doesn't have enough logical thinking, facts, or a basic grasp on reality to make them alone.
"Waaah, I'm a conservative! Waaaah!" Yeah, we get it. Have the dignity in defeat you never had in success.
rubino83 2 years ago
rubino, something is getting mixed up in translation. But, let me guess, that's only logical to me, and babble to you.
dmdcreations 2 years ago
Zzzz. Y'know, when you post something, it is visible to everybody. So when you do, in fact, go "waah waaah I'm conservative", anyone who passes by can see it, whether you attempt to blatantly pretend you said something intelligent or not.
rubino83 2 years ago
Actually, I was born to Republican parents, grew up evangelical Christian, went to Christian college, member of Teenage Republicans, College Republicans, attended Republican conventions. I saw, though, that Rebublicans had lost their way, were ruining the country, and it was a party I could no longer support.
Republicans have become a party of backward dogmatism, so I have to wonder which one of is indoctrinated.
inkyguy 2 years ago
inky, well thought out. Try to run the country that way, and we can do wonders.
kadathdreamques 2 years ago
That's funny because conservatives in America give 30% more to charity than liberals. Voting for a politician who takes money from rich people and gives it to poor people doesn't count as compassion.
happymills 2 years ago
I see your point, and you are right of course.

It is why they are doomed
asuperdemo1 2 years ago

Ashamed?

I don't know but Slade Ryan is a total pornstar name.

GOP EMERGENCY MEETING:

Is he nuts?
