@DrDavidNeiman oh no no.... i do think there is critical thinking, and i appreciate the vid. but i found it was a few steps behind the times and biased towards the bible, whose God wont reveal himself. it scares me to ever think about calling the bible good.... do you feel like it asks us to do a lot of weird& inhumane things while also taking a side in judging good vs evil constantly? its just a big oxymoron to me..... i dunno.

I disagree...birthing pain is NOT caused by the head being too big. For starters, the shoulders are far bigger than the head. Secondly, I was raised on a farm. Animals DO feel pain during birth. Just because they dont scream like a human doesnt mean they dont feel anything. Thirdly, animals are conscious beings. Maybe not in the same way as humans...but they ARE conscious, they have feelings and emotions. Anyone with a pet dog or cats can tell you this.

First: knowing right from wrong isn't equal to "being smart". Every social animal has an understanding of right and wrong, just not in the human sense. e.g. wolves or apes or lions etc.

I thought we had all the pain because we're able to have recreational sex.....or sex for pleasure purposes only. We don't necessarily have to have a mind for procreation in order to want sex--we don't have that "in your face" breeding mechanism that animals seem to have. Seems like the pain is a a built in deterrant that God cursed women with......no telling how wicked the world would be if it wasn't for the thought of complications during pregnancy.

Has he seen any other animal give birth? I have to disagree, sure we have a big head and birth is difficult because of our larger brain and small pelvis due to bipedalism. But birth is also difficult for say a horse who has to give birth to a very developed foal who can run almost immeadiately after birth. It is painful and they encounter a lot pf problems just like us humans. Try pushing out a 70-90 pound foal through a comparatively small birth canal. Difficult childbirth is not a human issue.

@Kimmyloca0 It seems that there is a great resistance to the notion that humans have exceptional characteristics. The brain is exceptional in humans and it makes a difference. Because of that we have to suffer certain trade off's, difficult birth and infants which are lesser developed and vulnerable. However we are not the only species who are exceptional, other animals have unique characteristics that make them successful in their environment. @DrDavidNeiman Contined... Often resulting in death of the mother and her cubs. The vestigial penis is an important part of their complex society, a society which has made them a dominant predator. That is their evolutionary trade off. No more or less amazing than ours. We are able to write and talk about it hyenas can't. I would agree that fact makes us unique but not more exceptional or special than the hyena, just different. I do enjoy listening to your lectures BTW.

@Kimmyloca0 Ah, so what he is saying is that prior to receiving this knowledge our minds were small enough for women to give birth painfree because the brain size was small enough to not overstretch the birth canal. The brain is a muscle in a sense, so by having more knowledge exercised in our minds our brain size increased... I think that's what Dr. Neiman is saying. Makes sense to me.

@theawardgoesto1-This makes no sense, because it would mean that we were put here by a god who hinged death, suffering, & such on a small-brained couple who on top of being small-brained, have had no experience in living life. There would have been no life lessons learned from this 1st human pair, as there was no other human to observe triumphs & faults. It's how we learn. I doubt I'd feel pain. Yes, the 13 gods planted us on earth for the game because they were demoralized. Our hips should have expanded to bear the pain, but they didn't. It doesn't have to hurt if you don't want it to, I'm sure.

His understanding of this is interesting, but I guess he assumes that he is totally correct also. We were clothed with light, walked with God but, curiosity, more to the point, lust, killed the cat. Apart from this, they do experience pain and emotions like fear and pleasure, caring for their offspring eg. and even so we refer to instinct, instinct comes from somewhere deep down and is based on some some self awareness. This may be limited & basic compared with humans, but if we observe properly it we can see that it must be there.
