Did I miss his name ? Elbridge Bryant , he was with the Temps before David. Talk about a floating tenor the man got down on the early jams when Paul or Eddie sang lead. Check him out on Farewell my love!!!! Double T's forever
@teentemps...i freakin LUV that song aand there's nowhere on the net that has the lyrics. It has the same temp feel like when dennis was with them. GC Cameron tore that song up.
Hey all. Otis Williams was what we singers/musicians like to refer to as a "utility man"--that is,someone who is capable of applying and voicing his instrument in ANY capacity--whether it be falsetto, 1st or 2nd tenor or barritone. He is the one who sang the higher "floating tenor" notes when Eddie was singing the lead in a song. THE TEMPTATIONS DID NOT OVER-DUB THEIR VOICES--THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO. There was way too much talent for that, and they were usually finished in one "take", too!!
THERE WAS NO BEN CUNNINGHAM. WATCH THE MOVIE AGAIN OR READ THE BIO ON WIKIPEDIA. THE ONLY FAMOUS BEN CUNNINGHAMS ARE THE FOLLOWING: Ben Cunningham (activist), (born 1947) Nashville investor and anti-tax activist; Ben Cunningham (Australian rules footballer), (born 1981) Australian rules footballer; Bennie Cunningham, retired American football tightend. THERE WAS NEVER A BEN CUNNINGHAM IN THE TEMPTATIONS. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teentemps is right. There was no ben cunningham. Go to the wikipedia page about the tempts and it will list all of the tempts members, past and present.
in the late 1968s Eddie Kendricks was uncomfortable with singing the psychedelic style that Whitfield was now crafting , (such as the Grammy winner "Cloud Nine" (1968), "I Can't Get Next to You" (1969), and "Ball of Confusion) for the group as opposed to the"I'll Be in Trouble" (,"The Girl's Alright With Me" "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)" "Get Ready" Just My Imagination" "You're My Everything under the direction of Smokey Robinson
Otis is and always has been the leader of this group. Not some background singer. He's the reason people can make comments on this board, intelligent or otherwise, because HE kept it going.
I disagree. I you truly know the Temptations you would know that Otis can truly sing . His range is 1, 2 tenor and baritone. He can also lead in falsetto.
i don't care what otis did in the forefront or how he claims he was the ring leader of the group, since everyone else is dead and can't vouch for it, he was a background singer. It doesn't matter he sing, what range he sings in, when he hit the stage he was in the back, danced around the front and went right back to the back....David Ruffin, Eddie, Dennis baby all the way!
Some people have debated that Otis' and Melvin's singing and dancing abilities were not as sharp as David's, Eddie's, or Paul's. That is a matter of opinion. Whatever one believes, nobody can deny that if it were not for Otis Williams, the Temptations' run as the best MoTown group ever produced would have broken up and would just be a memory. Because of him, they are still performing and even won a grammy in 2000. What other 40+ year old group can still win a grammy?
Honestly if you look at all the video's Melvin was The Best Dancer Aside Paul Williams. Notice they were Always up front. Otis , Eddie & David werent the greatest dancers.. Watch the video "Aint too proud to beg" You cleary see Otis Eddie & David Laugh when it comes to the dance part of the song. " My opinion"
if it had not been for otis bringing the group together and anyone who knows them says that not just him whether he was in the back or front he was a tempt u could not be commenting on this site about them cause there would be no temptations and dont forget paul was the original leader
otis williams was the founder not just a background singer and if u were a true tempts fan u would know that he has also has sung lead on quite a few songs
at the 2:00 there's a new song being played. does anyone know the title and the cd this song can be found on? and also the song before it; Reflections. what cd can that be found on? thanx
Yeah... Today, The Temptations Are Otis William's Boys, Men, whatever.. But because of him, they will continue until the day he goes to the next level.. Long Live The Temptations... Without him,, there are NO TEMPTATIONS.. Just Like There are No Supremes Without MARY WIlSON.. exct...
Ok thanks teentemps. Do you happen to have the video where the graves of Eddie, David, Melvin and Paul are shown at the end of the video? I used to have it on YT but its disappeared? Maybe it was copyright or something?
though the faces have changed in this video reflection-no one can ever replace my original temps. especially my eddie. r.i.p. to those passed on. never to be forgotten.
The leads on "Reflections" are G.C. Cameron, Terry Weeks, and Ron Tyson.
I don't know who's voice you were confused with, but David was dead before any of the songs on this video were recorded. But I see were you could be confused.
i had no idea gc cameron was in the temptations at one point. wow

This is some bullshit. How are you going to not spotlight (pix) of Dennis, Eddie and David. Otis was just a fuckin background singer.

I disagree. I you truly know the Temptations you would know that Otis can truly sing . His range is 1, 2 tenor and baritone. He can also lead in falsetto.
He can sing, but someone has to be the leader.

What HIT songs did Otis lead with the tempation? Dennis, Eddie, David and Ollie were the voices that made the Temps.
