  • I got so emotional watching this video

I can only hope that I can be a part of something this wonderfull some day

  • Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.

It was great how the 2 families met and spoke as they did.

  • you are such a blessing to Sofia! God always have a reason when he do something! God bless all your family! i am from ethiopia liking in abroad. i have a big dream of doing this when i reach at some point. i was crying when i was watching the video, you are such an inspiration!

  • i am crying i want to Adopt

  • Thank you for posting. Your family is blessed. You have an amazing heart. Thank for giving that child a home.

  • For anyone who's watching this, great news... after 2.5 years, Sofia is finally coming home this Friday, Aug 21, 2009. She is now three years old. As for some of the negative comments, just so you know, her biological parents are in their 60's. She is their 15th child. They simply did not have the energy to take care of her.

  • Wonderful...inspirational ! Praise God Almighty!! Please update.....

  • Hi Chris, why did it take so long to bring her home? I didn't realize it was a few years process. Your family is blessed - what a touching story. Do you know what has become of the orphanage and ministry since the earthquake?

  • Why does it take so long to bring an adopted child back home? Is it because of Visa? I want to adopt a child soon but i want him/her to grow up with me

  • @tvchris Congrats! It's already 2010 so I'm sure you're all living together happily =)

You did a great job with this vid, very inspirational! I'll probably consider adoption when I'm older and financially ready. I can have kids, at least I'm pretty sure I can since my family is multiplying like rabbits, but I've always wanted to adopt a child. Once again, congrats! And God Bless =)

  • @tvchris i know that it's hard, but you should know that you DO NOT have to justify yourself and your families wonderous actions to these silly, ignorant people. and IGNORANT is the right word, they are the exact definition of the word ignorant. you have a beautiful family and you are truly blessed as is Sophia :) it was so heartbreaking to see the family that Sophia came from and to see a society in which families no longer have the ability to care for their babies, just sad :(

  • This is very sad. These children are NOT orphans-- they have families that want to raise them but cannot because of poverty. The truly loving, Christian thing to do in this situation is to help raise these people out of poverty so their children are not separated from their families, their people and their culture.

  • So this video is beautiful!Just like everyone in it,im 18 and ever since i can remember i have wanted to adopt. This video was so touching, god bless all and your kind hearts<3

  • i am in tears

  • they speak french there too? in africa that is one of the main languages. God Bless her mother. and God Bless you all for giving her a home in america.

  • God bless you! Your little girl is just beautiful!

  • Meraviglioso!

    God bless this family!

  • God Bless. this video touch my heart

keep doing the works of the lord

  • God Bless you,

  • Chris I like you am adopting from Haiti and I am in Indiana. My son Jeffry is in Port-au-Prince. My friends are also adopting a beautiful boy Joshua. They are at an Orphanage His Home for Children. I fully understand everything in your video and I am in tears. My first visit was amazing. Just to hold my son. Someday we will have to start a Haitian play group.

  • What a magnificent video. I want to jump on a plane and make sure those beautiful children are loved, fed, educated, and made to understand how special they are. Please keep posting your continuing story.

  • Excellet video diary, very well made. Sofia is so gorgeous. I can not wait to see part 3..seeing Sofia go home w/ u.

  • It sounds like you had a very easy adoption. Was there ever a roadblock, or what is really that simple? Congratulations, your family is beautiful.

  • Thanks so much... actually, this video was shot in May of 2007. And as of right now we're looking at the end of 2008 before we get to take her home. Haiti takes forever. It's really a shame. We get somewhat regular picture updates though and she just gets more and more beautiful. We go down to see her again in March. :-)

  • OMG Sofia is just gorgeous!!! and she is so smart too. Congratulations to you both and God bless your family.

  • I just got back from an adoption conference where they said that in the cases when a child is placed for adoption for financial reasons alone, the amount of money that would have allowed the birthfamily to keep the child is usually less than $200 US dollars. US couples are willing to pay thousands of dollars to REMOVE a child from its birthfamily/culture, yet are not willing to donate $200 to keep the child with its birthfamily.

  • Reality... Sofia's family gave her up more because they were more-or-less exhausted from raising kids. Sofia's mother had had 14 other children before her, five of which had died. We were never presented with the option of giving a donation, and, in fact, the orphanage, which is run by Haitians, requested that we do NOT send money for the family. From talking to them, we really never got the impression that a couple hundred bucks would change their decision.

  • OK, so it was not for financial reasons alone. That makes more sense to me now, about her particular situation. Of course children are placed for adoption for a variety of reasons-- financial, social pressure, etc-- My comment was just framed toward if it were financial alone (which sadly, so many placement decisions ARE for financial reasons alone!). But when the other reasons are present, then there is clearly more to the decision that can't be solved by money.

  • Why was Sofia's birth family not able to keep her? They seemed an intact family.

  • This is soo beautiful. I am sitting here crying. GOD Bless you and your family.

  • Inspiring!! Congradulations, hope sofia is doing well.

God bless you and your family.

  • This is so inspiring. I am also thinking of adopting in a couple of years. Your daughter is beautiful and you are truly blessed. It brought a tear to my eye. May God bless you.

  • Your video and daughter are so beautiful. Our family is adopting 5 children from Haiti and also have fallen in love with the country of Haiti. You can't go there without it changing your life forever...can you?

  • I just finished watching your videos and I know how you feel. My husband and I just adopted 2 brothers from Sudan ages 10 months and 2 years. We have wanted children so badly, and I prayed as Hannah did in God's word and He blessed me TWICE! I love them so much and the baby's name was James when we got him, the same as my husband's. God is AWESOME! God bless you and Sophia

  • I watched both of your videos and they are beautiful. As a Haitian living in the states with a two year old and one on the way. You have inspired me to make sure I fulfill my dream of going back home and adopting a child. My God continue to bless you and your family enjoy your baby girl!!

  • This is one of the best adoption videos I have ever watched. Sofia is absolutely beautiful. How blessed you both must feel. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

  • I am so happy that God paired you with Princess Sofia. I see a wonderful future for you all. I have three children of my own, but I do hope to adopt a child in the future. May God Bless your new family and Sofia's birth parent's family.

  • she is absolutely beautiful. God bless you

  • Good luck and GOD BLESS

  • I loved the first video and have been trying to watch this second video for a week and having been able to watch it. I wish your family well

  • This baby is loved. As her adoptive grandparents, we are ready to see her arrive at her new home. love her, cuddle her and get to know her. She will be brought into a wonderful, Chrisitan home. Our prayers are with you Chris. Laura, Renee and Sofia. Love - Grandma and Grandpa "We love you Sofia"

  • This touches my heart. It really hits home. For I know how Sofia's birth mother feels. I am also a birth mother. I have been blessed ultimitly I get to have a relationship with my little girl and her family...my family. Love is kind. May God Bless You and Sofia's birthfamily. vanjesaliefra
