the whole analog vs. digital shit is stupid. modern electronic music relies heavily on digital recording and editing. i love analog synths and drum machines as much as the next guy but, let get real...the good ole days weren't always that good. i can concentrate on makin beats and not have to fuck with some stupid tape machine, i can program sounds and SAVE them for another session. and to top it off, analog gear is overpriced....$1500 for an 808...please look to the future, not the past

The problem is, digital is not a REAL sound. LITERALLY. You'll never be able to sample an 808, and get the sound of a REAL 808. This is why music sucks today, its all digital! So people can't PHYSICALLY feel it, the brain gets confused. Bottomline: EMULATION is a nice word for FAKE. Since everyone listens to music on laptop and ipods, you can get away with it, but go to a live show using a laptop compared to analog gear? you'll get banged out so hard, you'll run home.

so music sucks today because it's all digital? wow......that's a pretty generalized statement. I can't think of one gigging artist that drags thousands of dollars worth of analogue equipment to a small banged up club. Yeah...pretty much every digital vsti i've heard that attempts to emulate an old analogue board falls short. but there's shit like Vaz modular that blows the doors off what you'd expect a digital synth to be capable of.
