  • is it the turtle help your tank? what he can do to your tank?

  • Don't mix species, reeves are from china and Texas maps are from Texas, reeves turtles have very long tails and are prone to tail nipping,

  • @Gapcraft my reeves turtle has no tail, when i purchased him he had noting but a 1/4" stub. guess it was bitten off by his brothers when he was a baby. I've had my turtles together for well over 2 years now, and all have been completely fine together.

  • celsius not degrees :s

  • degrees or farenhight

  • Are they easie to look after? and how much am i looking at for the whole set up + turtle PLZ REPLY!

  • There amazing i have snake-neck turtles vicious things

  • celsius or farenhight?

  • how warm does the tank need to be for a reeves turtle

  • @mrchasseyful low 70's for water, high 80's for basking.

  • Hi i make turtle vids and i was wondering if you guys could check em out. I barley started a week ago but i will make a lot more vids. Maybe once a week or twice a week. Thanks

  • Texas Map Turtles are so cool, wish i done my research and gotten these instead of RES, love my RES but am going to invest in a huge tank soon....

    happy turles=sad wallet,,,lol

  • HOW DO U CHECK THE TEMPETURE PLZ SEND ME THE ANSWER

  • @lizardluver2469 just put a thermometer in the water, and another one out of the water near their hot spot.

  • Hey I was wondering what type of turtles grow no more than 5 inches. I know that texas map turtles grow small but I live in Ontario Canada and there is nowhere I can buy them. Thanks

  • @ElecGuitarShredder Some musk turtles get to be 5 inches

  • @earthling1984 hey i was wondering how many tanks do u have?

  • Do reeves get along with map turtles? I am thinking about getting one.

  • @TheReptileGuy11 mine get along fine.

  • Comment removed

  • Glass filter's out UVB!

  • Do you like your reeves turtle? I'm thinking about getting one and want to know if they will get along with red eared sliders.

  • @151RUMBUM I don't have any RES, but my Reeves gets along with the turtles I do have. He eats well and is easy to care for.

  • why did you put a penny in there.

  • @WALRU11 To show how small it is i think ?

  • Which is uvb light 13 watts

  • do you need uv light

  • @acarrillo28 yes u need a uvb/uva light.

  • @acarrillo28 I just have a Repti Glo 5.0 13w

  • Where did you get them? Im looking for a texas map? thanks

  • No UVA? UVA is essential when basking

  • @casualdrummer yes of course they need UVA... Pretty much every 'UVB" light also provides UVA.

  • @earthling1984 No, not every UVB light provides UVA, only the hibrid ones, which are expensive. The UVA bulbs are classified as "basking spot lights" I hope you have one of those.

  • @casualdrummer my lights provide both uva and uvb. thanks for your concern.

  • @casualdrummer I think your getting the UVA/UVB bulbs confused with the MVB bulbs which are UVA UVB and heat which cost around 40-70 bucks. But the UVA/UVB like the Reptiglo 5.0 UVB provides UVB and UVA for only 20 bucks.

  • @EverythingInOnePlace Nope, Repti Glo 5.0 does not provide UVA;

    Product Description: Item: 2752555

The Exo Terra Repti Glo 5.0 has a moderate to high UVB output, similar to that of shady environments such as rain forests and other tropical locations. Reptiles living in these habitats receive less UV radiation because of the many climatological conditions (fairly high humidity, changes in weather, etc) that prevent direct sunlight from reaching them or their basking sites.

    -Nothing about UVA. -

  • @casualdrummer If your reading it online then it won't tell you I own the bulb and on the box it tells you that it provides UVB and UVA. If you ever see it at the store read the box and it will tell you.

  • hey man, what is the deepest you think two texas maps or two pearl rivers could go in? my tank looks to be about the height of your tank on top and the water i going to be filled to 4 or 5 inches from the top, seems good but for the little turtles im getting it seems like an overwhelming space. hope i dont bother ya too much haha, and i watched the vid and it helped a ton

  • @Acoustic11Sean maps are good swimmers, they should be ok.

  • Hey i am thinking about getting a Texas Map Turtle, i have about a 50 gallon tank for him and i really am doing a lot of research to find out what i need but everyone says different things. i see you have a nice setup and i was wondering if you could tell me the filter i need, the ground(gravel, sand), and the lights i need (uv ray number) and thingslike that. i am new a bit to turtles so i want to make sure everything is ok for him before i purchase. =]

  • @Acoustic11Sean I have a turtle care video up on youtube, you should check that out. I talk a bit about 'basking' turtles as well, but their cage setup is pretty much the same. For a filter, get at least two times the filtration rating as the size of tank you have, so for a 50 gallon tank, get 100 gallons of filtration rating. Sand works great, I would suggest sand. You need UVB lighting of course, and it is best to get a quality UVB light like a 'powersun' or 'sunglo'. Send a PM with ?'s

  • @earthling1984 ok i will check it out, and i also forgot to tell ya, last minute i think im going to get two texas maps, i am going to try to get them to both be males, so would my tank still be large enough for two of them throughout their lives or would i need to upgrade and when?

  • @Acoustic11Sean two male texas maps will be just fine in a 50 gallon.

  • @earthling1984 last thing i promise, haha, what would need to be the temp of their basking area, and what would the water temp need to be at? and would i need to keep it at the same temp at all times, or would i need to get timed lighting to shut off at night. sorry for the questions, like i said its hard to find good info about this stuff and i dont wanna hurt my turtles

  • @Acoustic11Sean oh, quick response, texas maps are basking turtles, for some reason I thought u were talking about a musk(someone asked about musks earlier), so check out my turtle care vid. I talk about heating for them too! You can have a UVB lamp on just during the days, but you should also have a red heat lamp on 24/7. Some people just give them heat during the days, which is ok too, but I leave my 1 heat lamp on 24/7, to keep it slightly warm in the air, during the day, they have 2 lamps

  • @Acoustic11Sean water temp around 70 to 75, air temp around 90 in their basking area.

  • dude my cousins name is brian velasquez too cool tank and turtles

  • I like turtles.

  • IS it hard 2 clean your tanks? i have a 30gal and it takes me forever to clean it.

  • How much was that little light you've got for them. Awesome

  • @brianvelasquez about $35

  • we just got a map turtle and I bought the UV Lamp...just wondering, does the light need to be on all the time? Can we turn it off at night?

  • @kimwashere2day can be off a night, set a timer for 12 hours on, 12 off.

  • i jest found a 1 inch red eared turtle in my naboors back yard

  • @breeadams you should leave him outside, don't take him in as a pet, leave him where you found him. Captive RES are for sale pretty cheap at pet shops, better to get one that was bred to be a pet rather than take it out of nature.

  • u should get some teenage mutant ninja turtles

  • lol get a red eared slider and paint the shells

  • where do you get the turtles and how do you get them shipped

  • What web site it I couldn't see it from my iPhone

  • turtlesale com

  • i KNEW IT WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING

    everyone gets it from there

  • thanx u have no clue how much uve helped me! :)

  • srry 4 all the questions but i hav 1 more... how can u tell if a tx map is male

  • Most male turtles 'belly' shell will be indented slightly. A females belly will protrude slightly.

  • @earthling1984 ya ur right

  • if u can tell me which website u got them from especialy the tx map

  • all from turtlesale

  • wut website did u get urs from because it looks healthy

  • turtlesale com

  • plz reply fast and also is ur tx map a male

  • ordered online. there are many sites that sell reptiles online. I wouldn't keep a texas map with a res. Res get more than 2 times the size of texas maps, it may be ok, but I wouldn't risk it. Yes mine is a male, males stay smaller than females, reaching 5" max.

  • were did u get ur texas map because i really wanted 1. and also can u keep a texas map together w/ a res?

  • i just got my turtles...a couple weeks ago

  • Comment removed

  • is it a good idea to put a razorback musk and a black knob map turtle together?

  • my map and musk have been fine together.

  • how big is your tank?

  • 40gallon. when the turtles get larger they will either be separated - probably keep 2 in the 40gallon and 2 move elsewhere... or get a larger tank for all of them to stay in. For now they are good in this tank, they are all still pretty small.

  • This vid is old. turtles are in top tank.

  • oh cool and this is a 40 breeder right?

  • yup

  • wow looks bigger.

  • im getting two new turtles tomorrow

  • cool what type?

  • chinese golden thread turtle and a razor back musk......i may order 1 more turtle lator

  • where did you get the light from becuase i need a better ligh

  • Looks like a great setup, Just a heads up though, glass filters out UVA and UVB radiation.

  • yes, it does filter out much UVA / UVB

  • where did you get it>?

  • u have soo many cool pets and i can see u really do a good job taking care of them but where do u usually get them all

  • From everywhere. Some from pet stores, some from online(sites and breeders), some from local pet expos.

  • dude those turtles cool like your turtle

  • Whered u get the texas map??

  • in stores or online like turtlesale. com

  • female reeves gets huge bro... they suddenly boost up growth

  • do they get bigger?

  • yes, the larger one, the reeves will get from 5 to 9 inches. the texas map will get to 4" if a boy, and 7" if a girl. And the razorback musk I already had will get to about 6"

  • Where did you buy the Texas map turtle? If you got it from a website please can you give me the link.

    Thanks - great vid

  • I also have 2 razorback turtles, do you breed them because i have had mine for about 1-2 Years and they are both different sex's but wont breed??!?!
