I so have the problem of lack of focus - I just have so many ideas and I want to work on all of them.
How can you decide which one to go with? there's always a bit inside of me that feels nervous about a project I'm working on. I start working and then I look into the world and think 'Are people going to use what I make?' I guess I just need to talk through ideas more with people.
I keep only the browser windows open that are directly related to my goal - or else one thing leads to another and I'm interacting on 10 or more sites, piling up the inspiration while not getting anything done.
Oops- I stay 'focused' by settin my alarm to ring (depending on teh tash) every 30 minutes. Then I get started on the next one - sometimes- even if I didn't totally finish it. But I make sure I get all the BIG things done and the little things get partly done. I have a constint routine and follow it even if I am sick. I can not get off balance.
I just try to focus or consentrate on whatever I'm doing, and if something useless distracts me than I just ignore it, but if something good and important try to distract me, then I'll make myself a note for later.
Thanks Darren for this video, I know what you mean about all these distractions...
I agree, Stay focused and your goals and keep motivated and you'll achive them, incidently... have a look at my channel.. all that focus and motivation of 2 videos. "Dont sub me " :)
Just recently found that you have video's to watch and get blogging. Very grateful for your guidance and lessons to fulfill that blog with some substance I feel strongly about, With tactics from your education, experience, and contacts
Thanks for the reminder to set goals and work towards them. Sometimes it feels overwhelming to look at the to-do list for several websites and I tend to focus more on the things I enjoy doing rather than the things that may need to be done right away.
Two practical tips that also seem to help: 1) Use a tool like Outlook and block out time blocks for certain activities. The little alarm reminder can help keep things on task.
2) Big tasks can sometimes drive you into the arms of those evil supertwins of procrastination and distraction. It's a little cliched, but actually true, break big tasks into smaller ones that don't seem so overwhelming.
Darren, This video was completely distracting! Just kidding......it hit home today........narrow the focus........lazer focus......good stuff! Thanks, Kevin
Being focused is no doubt a great advice, but sometimes there are also other external factors, which due to intentional narrowing of the spectrum of awareness, can be lost and not taken into considerations leading to skewed self-focused perception about the big picture. In the short term yes it has benefits, by in the long run this can be extremely perturbative even to the main goals. So the point is to be focused but not to overlook the real risks outside of the scope of causal activity.
thanks so much Darren....was unsure where I was headed with my personal development blog..I am in the process of refocusing and getting a renewed interest in blogging...look forward to learning from all your work to take my blog to next level...keep up the great work....nice camera by the way :)
