Fact about Hans Zimmer: While writing the score for The Last Samurai, Zimmer felt that his knowledge of Japanese music was extremely limited. He began doing extensive research, but the more he studied, the less he felt he knew. Finally, Zimmer took what he had written to Japan for feedback and was shocked when he was asked how he knew so much about Japanese music That how amazing he is people if you agree thumbs this up so everyone can know
@razvantnc if you cry, you cry because a certain emotion is too overwhelming, you pity yourself. It's very powerful, but also makes you look vunrable.
Not really man like I would say, a man needs to keep composure in certain situations.
A true man should be afraid to cry... wtf i turned almost filosophic listening to this
I hate my life here, I wish I could go back in time, because I believe that when none of this scientific stuff existed, like Phones, Computers and other electricity. I want to live a religious traditional life, when we cared about others. I only wish I will die by my enemies sword...
okay so this may be a stupid question but what is that instrument that plays in old japanese songs that sounds very alike to a flute? is it just a flute or another instrument?
@hypnotichellspiral i'm pretty sure people understood all of the above long before you were born or this film was ever written. it's just a film. it's far from the truth.
@TheRaellz I was only trying to point out how this movie exemplifies those three qualities spectacularly, don't take it personally raellz. and no, it's not just a movie, this is the closest a movie has ever come to demonstrating the true value of these qualities.
@TheRaellz i agree but it was a great film that reminded the people of today of how great they were, because people these days dont want to look for information themselves and dont want to learn and understand because they feel people will think they are nerd or something but i tell my girlfriend all about the martial art and the samurai that really inspire me and maybe she is just perfect but she accepts it and understands so much about me that way
I absolutely love the blend of "A Hard Teacher," with this theme. Zimmer has done it yet again but it doesn't come as a surprise, when the man was born to create epic scores for such films
@SpicyHam Wow. What's with this idea that traditional is any better? Humans have been humans since we first began on this earth. Nothing has changed in our ways of insanity at all. Only the context has. I assure you, ancient Japan was just as insane if not more. You forget that des pite all their philosophy of virtue, the samurais were warriors and in Japan much genocide, rape, war, and starvation existed.
@Dr4usm I don't know SpicyHam so I'm not going to answer for him, but for me the main idea that traditional Japan is better in so many ways. @TakaiiZ Okay, let me just set this straight... people like you are so caught up in the romanticism and splendor of movies like this that you blatantly ignore history. Do you realize just how much war, rape, and genocide there was in traditional Japan? What do you think the Samurai actually did? Just sat around talking about honor all day? No, they killed people on a massive scale. Learn some history.
@Dr4usm I see what both of you mean. To me, it's not about "going back in time", it's more like "regaining the virtues from the past". Evolution is part of the human being, so there's nothing wrong with it. Just think about it.
@Dr4usm Well said. The Last Samurai was a good movie, movie being the keyword. People who say that things should be how they were in Japan are normally those who are unable/unwilling to question the images and interpretation of history which movies present to them.

Now war is still an art of movement. I don't see what's less honorable when you fight with guns, machine-guns, tanks, airplanes, submarines, etc.
