I don't agree with you at ALL. The whole reason that the story was completely connected was because L died and his replacements took over. Light HAD to die. If you were a REAL fan you would see that it CLEARLY STATES that the Shinigami kills the user in the end.

Even if Matsuda hadn't shot the gun, Mello hadn't told Near about the fake rules, or L didn't die, Ryuk still would have killed him that night.

In my opinion, my fav scene was when L died. Not because he was dying tho, cause Lawliet was my favourite character, but because, it was the saddest scene, and L knew all along that stupid Light was Kira, he just couldn't prove it. Light cheated with the fake rule, and even with the fake rule, L would have caught him, as he was to try the death note. But Light cheated again, and used a shinigami... Light had no sense of honor or justice, he was just a criminal.
