Wonderful video and just what I was looking for. I am about to embark on making deck pouches for my son's birthday next month. He plays Magic The Gathering and wanted some pouches to attach to his belt instead of lugging around boxes full of cards. I am new to leather working and your video gave me a great start on gathering together the various tools I will need. Your explanations are extremely clear and now I am more confident about how to do my project. Many thanks again for the video. :)
thx for the video! Im newly venturing into leatherworks! my dad just gave me a slough of belt leather and stamps! but all the pieces have been polished, so I can't stamp them...is there a way I can get the finish off?
Thanks for this very useful video - Now I just have to get out my dictionary and translate the names of the items into german so I will know what to buy (-^_^-)
FINALLY! I know my way around a work-shop, but leather is a mystery to me. Thanks for this excellent first-look at what I need to get started. Much appreciated.
If the cost of traditional leather knives is a bit high, you can stick with your utility cutters but improve their performance dramatically by sharpening them. It is easy with 1200 grit wet & dry abrasive paper on a sufrace that has a little give like neck or belly leather. Drag it over the abrasive at a low angle until the shoulder is gone then remove the paper and strop on the leather with a little metal polish like autosol or driglo. The cost is very small for a great edge. Regards
where did you buy your tools? Some of the best leather working tools are from England and Japan (and old American made ones). Taiwan makes great ones too but too expensive buying new for quality (which is great, just not the best).
EXACTLY, exactly what I needed! I was afraid I was going to be walking in the leather store next week for my first time a little blind, now I have seen the light!
@itsDJR I'm glad it's useful! I've updated the description with a list of stuff as well (it hadn't saved properly and finished uploading while I was asleep!)
What shop are using for all these bits? Cheers

do u use a pricking iron / lacing chisel to punch the stitching holes>?
zusser 1 month ago in playlist More videos from satansbarber
@zusser No, pricking irons are for marking holes not making holes! I drill or punch my holes with an awl.
