Great set 'o tunes, well played! Pachelbel's Frolics is a fave of mine. Seems to often be named and played as a reel, but I understand that it's actually a Scottish hornpipe - Koehler's Hornpipe. Hmmm....maybe should be McKoehler's Hornpipe?? :)
Thats it, I need another life. borne with a fiddle beside me. Not fair. Thanks to all you deliciously tallented people for making the world a better place for us. Breathtakingly loverly and lively. thankyou again. Australia, please visit soon.
Hi there, just a quick message to any of you who loved this, our next concert is this Saturday 22nd Oct same place, same time!!! We still have tickets left so if you don't live too far away and fancy coming seeing us then contact me soon!!!! Matt
that guys having way too much fun with that fiddle at the beginning lol. just got a ukulele but really want a fiddle and I've got the money for one. Any suggestions on a good fiddle for beginners? send me a link or just give me a good brand name. much appreciated. awesome video. keep up the good work.
@Ominix301 Hi. Sorry I didn't reply earlier. To be honest, there's no specific good fiddle for beginners. The ones coming out of China are pretty good now and will get you a long way before you'd need to upgrade.
I watch this and can only think how wonderful it is to live in this era when I can have the wonderful experience of listening to such a performance via the internet.. what a gift to the world. Thank you
Yeah, I've not managed to find the dots or ABC for a tune called the Scottish Wedding Reel, either. Next time I have my fiddle lesson I'll grill Matt to find out where he got it!
Hey pinklicker. I asked Matt about the reel, and he said this:
"Aha! It comes from a compilation that i got in the early '90's called Scottish Fiddle tunes. Pretty sure it's no longer in print but you never know....! And that's the only name I know it by and I'm fairly certain that it's quite old, the Irish wedding reel is much more recent and is also called the Madonna reel according to a friend."
Matt's offered to post another version of it; I'd certainly like to learn it!
@pintlicker Came across this tune again and just thought id clear up the name thing a bit. Its called the Brides reel. Its been driving me mad off and on for a while!
Thanks Jim... it was a really great night! ... and to think they all live relatively nearby to me is great.. One day I aspire to be as good as this lot :)

Incredible fiddling and great accompaniment. Been listening to this all afternoon.
One question though, is the Scottish Wedding Reel known with another name? I've heard it before but can't find the tune anywhere?
