Single strokes--especially fast single strokes--are getting really overrated. 0_o If you haven't already, I'd strongly recommend looking into learning to play double-strokes (RRLL/LLRR), or imitating Moeller strokes with your feet. There's a great book by Jeff Bowders (published by the Musician's Institute) called "Double Bass Drumming: The Mirrored Groove System" which I think is really good for spicing up your DB on the drumset. (He also wrote another good DB book whose name I can't remember).

@OgreWorld start slow i didn't want to either but it's mostly about the stamina it doesn't really matter ho fast you go if u cant keep it smooth and steady then people are gonna boo you right off youtube i recomend sitting down with a metronome at like 160 and play sixteenth notes for like 5 mins just mess with ur hands and if thats to hard step it down to two minutes it sucks but to get better and faster you actually have to practice and as for being good at certain fills practice them slowly.

@OgreWorld Make sure your bass drum(s) is/are tuned properly, as if they are super loose you'll get no rebound, a good way is to stuff them a little (also gives you that metal click) and make sure your pedals are tweaked properly, but other than that, follow supergilbs' advice.
