Ian Bousfield (Vienna) and Jörgen van Rijen (Concertgebouw) are tops in my opinion. When Joe Alessi thinks about who he wants to be like when he grows up, it's these guys.
Wow there buddy. Even though Bousfield is virtuosic and van Rijen is my favorite trombonist and is also virtuosic, Alessi is the best. It is more like they want to be like Alessi when they grow up.
In case people don't know, this was composed by Arthur Pryor, one of the most show off, kick ass trombone players ever. It was intended to be this fast, Ive heard the original recording with Pryor from the early 1900s and he played it almost exactly like this.
Man, what are people saying!!! Ian Bousfield is a virtuoso, and hes principle on Vienna Philharmonic, nobody can critisize him ever. and no one is better than him, no offense.
By the way. I did meet him a long time ago when he first got the job. He is not bashful about his feelings. I chatted with an old teacher of mine later on and he mentioned that he experienced the same thing. Regardless, he could still use a lesson fro a true master of the trombone. like Joe or a true master of music like Gil.
I have played it, and recorded it live with both a WE and recitals. Forward me your e-mail and I can send it to you, or address and I can send you a CD if you prefer. I just find his pompous hatred towards anyone other than the Viennese disturbing and humorous. There is always someone smarter, better looking, more creative than the next guy This includes the "genius" that is Bousi. Please, if you see Bousi, if you are not he, tell him that he should really just learn to get along.
when i hear funemail play as good as this ..i might listen to his drivel and jealous comments ...what a plonker to critise a trombone virtuoso like ian bousfield ...playing'' live'' too
You are obviously a great player, we all know that, but do you understand this music in the slightest? Its a piece of music not a race. Not everything is supposed to be played super fast. Its like playing Mahler as loud as possible all of the time because that is all that you remember hearing, very childish point of view. You hate Americans because they masturbate all over your music you being an Englishmen, I can only imagine that you mean the music of Vienna. Continue on....
Well Mr. Bousfield I wont be as arrogant as you, listen to some recordings, contact Mr. Issle, the man who wrote this particular version, understand the style, listen to people play Paganini. Stop being such a trombone player, its playing like this that gives us a bad rep in the musical world.
Absolutamente Increible como toca Ian Bousfield, que buen video Ian es uno de mis ídolos en el trombón,gracias por subir estos videos, hacía mucho tiempo esperaba ver mas de Ian Bousfield.
No one plays this better than Erdman, ex US Marine Band.
