i just thought of the best ending to a movie. a teenager in highschool just got done saving the world and in doing so he had to sacrifice his favorite car.....a 1968 gt500

so a few days after this happens and everything goes back to normal an old man with his best friend show up at his highschool with his car and then the top gun anthem starts playing and him and his best friend drive off and as the cong starts to end they stop in mid air during a jump and the screen fades and the song ends.

Sorry, but that's not not right!

In BULLITT, Steve drove a nearly standard 68 Mustang with GT package (an option) and this car had the 390 ci big block engine. In the movie, the GT grille and the side badges were gone. The rear GT gas cap was painted black.

GT350 and GT500 were and are still Shelby cars!

BTW, a 69 vette with a 427 has more HP than the 71 with a 454. The 454 isn't all it's cut out to be. The 427 is where it's at. And 69 was the last good year for corvettes in that generation. The 70's were a major flop in the power department, thanks to all the emissions bullshit.

u can't compare it like that. lambo and co r hightech cars. the development of such cars cost a fortune while american muscle cars were mass production stock cars with minor changes and a huge fucking powerful superb sounding engine. far less expensive to build, plus lambo and co aren't supposed to be driven by everyone otherwise they'd lose their exotic and luxurious status. why costs an armani shirt 200 dollars when the material is like 2 dollars?

I'm referring to Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Astin Martin, etc are all higher performance vehicles that are high production but the average working class person could never buy new, used maybe. My point is that for a high performance car in the late 1960's and early 1970's that factory workers, truck drivers and other blue collar people could buy Mustangs, GTOs, Camaros. Ford makes the GT which is like $200,000. I'm not talking about supercars but higher performance mass produced cars.
