  • where did you download it?

  • @waitlikecookies yeah, Nevermind that Courtney just had a baby or anything.

  • I got this ep somewhere in this house, but where :D

  • <3

  • I've always regarded Courtney as a better lyricist than Kurt, and Kurt a better songwriter than Courtney. Courtney I'm sure contributed to Hole's music, but I think she needed help in order to get there. She can effortlessly write really compelling lyrics, but songwriting doesn't seem to come as easy to her. She needs pushed. Kurt probably bit of that. But I think Eric Erlandson contributed heavily to forming the songs as well and writing guitar pieces. I mean, after all, he was in the band.

  • I think Courtney's lyrics are very well written. I can relate to some stuff, not all. And I listen to Hole when I'm pissed and need Courtney to scream in my honor! :)

  • Since Courtney has admitted she & Kurt did co-write some songs (I'm not sure she got specific, but she once said in an interview I read that she had collection of cassettes of songs she & Kurt co-wrote). So, I'm open to the notion Kurt had a hand in the music of this song, but the lyrics sound like Courtney speaking, not Kurt. I'm sure the words are all or mostly hers. In fact, Kurt rarely wrote lyrics this good. I think she eclipses him as a lyric writer in this & some other Hole songs.Bravo!

  • @Bobjb999 and lyrics come to you in the form of a song)) i mena she may have not written the guitar chords...but when you come up with lyrics you also come up with how they should be sung...if someone can write a song but doesnt know guitar riffs but can hear in his head how it should sound does he get the credit for writing a song ?....

  • @sergsfault I agree. Many lyric writers create their own vocal melody.

  • @sergsfault not always the case. look at old age. the chord progressions and vocal MELODY are kurt's. when hole did it, courtney put her own lyrics to the existing melody. so no just because you wrote lyrics doesn't automatically mean you wrote the melody.

  • @roejogan8 Does no one have faith in Eric Erlandson? I mean really?

  • @MichaelSxe555 for music, sure. vocal melodies? i dunno. another thing i noticed about live through this is how well everything is structured. the dynamics and song forms are perfect. i noticed that about nirvana's music too. not making any assumptions, just something i noticed.

  • @MichaelSxe555 he always gets the short end of the stick...

  • @demonbuttercupp So true!

  • @roejogan8 Plus Courtney could play okay back then.

  • @MichaelSxe555 agree. i still think she's pretty good. good enough to still be able to perform the songs live with hole, still.

  • @Bobjb999 I noticed on Live Through This that there were a lot of references to fetuses and childbirth and milk and stuff like that.

Kurt was fascinated with female sexuality, its easy to guess which songs he had a hand in.

  • @WAITilikecookies Interesting. But my pet theory's Kurt likely contributed the music, while Courtney probably wrote lyrics. Kurt said music was always no.1 priority for him, with lyrics less important.

These words sound to me like Courtney talking, not Kurt. In fact, I don't think there's a Nirvana song with as many compelling lines in it as this one has. Assuming I'm right about Courtney writing them, maybe that makes her an even better word smith than Kurt!

  • oh i forgot how much i love Hole..thanks for the up

  • This is a great song really.

  • Great song, great band, great era...Thanks for posting.--777

  • the lyrics on this are better

  • Just sounds like a demo to me...

It seems much closer to the sound P.O.T.I conveys.

  • oh wow awesome how the bass bangs in!

    ~*TAKE EVERYTHING*~

  • I'm a fan of the music, but I don't like her as a person.

  • thats exactly how i feel. if i was in conversation with her, id probly lose interest and leave. but her music kicks ass.

  • You don't even know her. wtf?

  • Read her blogs. 'Nuff said.

  • you are honestly basing a person' personality off blogs? which are venting/over exaggerating emotion machines? yea, don't judge ppl. you don't know. it's ridiculous.

  • courtneytard alert.

  • Hey, I'm a Courtney Tard too! I love the music ;).

  • @eyeofyoursun Well I think shes cool... Even though shes a hopeless drug addict and fucked up Kurt Cobain........ ok maybe I should re-evaluate this

  • @AimzWellings

Actually she probably contributed to Kurts death. She wanted fame and recognition while Kurt wanted nothing to change and to just be who he was. Her ruthless climb to success contradicted his desire to not be pulled into the spotlight too much. I think she loved him very much though.

Eventually though, the pressures of the fame life got to poor Kurt and he killed himself, knowing that he would almost never fade into obscurity

  • this version is sweet

  • This song is great live. She changes it every time. You should have used a better picture. This looks like one of those they took when she was all stressed out at the courthouse...

  • this version is kinda better i think

  • i think so, too

  • I liked this version.
