One tip I have: find the fulcrum point on your drum sticks and play there rather than gripping way down. Gripping down is fine for heavy backbeat playing, but Kris in this song is much funkier. Most of your ghosts notes are blah-sounding and sloppy. You want to be crisp and have "feel" and intent behind each note, and the starting point is gripping the sticks so you can maximize rebound and be ready position ASAP for the next stroke.
Kris Myers says "tighten up", oh and so did my wife from the other room .......... sounded like this, "is that someone trying to play drums over UM " ?? c l i c k t r a c k But forreal im not a youtube hater, its cool you like UM and that you can play( i too play )even if your draggin on the tempo a lil hear and there keep it up man practice to a click track/metronome and youll be a beast .............someday..............
I love this cymbal. Although, I would have gotten the 18" if it were available (I could only get the 17 because there was a crazy good deal on it). I'm a fan of big cymbals :D
hey awsome cover man, the only thing is that grove at around 4:25 with the quick double on the feet should be able to be played with one foot. but that still sounded awsome
It looks like ur in a studio...whether u are or not, ur set sounds awesome man, nice bassdrum sound, that snare is TIGHT, toms...WHOOO, and WHO can go wrong with Sabian HHX's? What heads r on ur toms?
Umphrey, your friend Matt (the drum teacher) say's you're amazing. This is one of his students who told me to check you out, and dude, you're amazing!
Thanks! But I'm afraid I have no idea what you're talking about haha! My name is actually Rob, and I'm not sure if I know a drum teacher Matt. Let me know what is going on! Thanks again for the kind words.
very nice drumming man. check out the videos i shot for umphreys about a year ago in michigan, under my username. UM is a bunch of very talented, very humble musicians, therefore a good group to draw inspiration. keep up the great work!
good cover man. not perfect but you have a close kris style which isnt easy- ive been trying to copy it for years. the nonchalant double bass is right on as far as his style goes.
Thanks for being constructive. I always thought those drum solos were just Andy, hence why I don't play them. And I'm not sure what you mean by "feeder?" Thanks again.
sounds great mate. Keep those back fingers on the stick during your rolls around the kit. I give you much love, keep it up

The middle section of this song is a latin feel sorta... You need to make it feel like one a little better.. other than that not bad.

learn the basics first, then try to play this song. It'll come out much better.

Hey, how are you likeing the 17" HHX-plosion? I was thinking to get either a 17" or 18" to compiment my 16" and 18" AAX-plosion crashes.

You n00b!!
What happened to the drum solos at 1:16 and 2:06? Do you not have the toms or something?
Also, the drums should stop at 4:15, :22, and :38. Otherwise, very classy, well done! You're a feeder.

I watched a live video and Andy did play it, so my bad.
A feeder means that you pwn.
Good job again, hope to see more.
wcr4 3 years ago
the drum fills are timbale parts, not tom parts. So its understandable. Solid cover though.
