proud to ave been there...great gig, best ever for me , great camo jacket,, the barrolands!!!!..even better got copy of gig on cd. this one's for ally mccoist!!!!
i think standing on the shoulder of giants is oasis' best album. yes, morning glory and def maybe were good, but in the years of SOTSOG, oasis were in there prime.
it's not a question of opinions, it's a question of fact. sales for shows, albums and singles were much more higher in 1995-1996. critics on DM and MG are much better than SOTSOG ones. And in 1996, they were the biggest band in the world, in 2001, they were not anymore. In the UK, they have always been famous, but in the US, their fame was over by 2000.
@Vbgrel over here they got big again at the tail end of their career. be here now killed alot of their popularity but 2008-9 they kinda resurged (if thats a word haha). but nowhere near as big as they were in england
@yahhhtrickyah true. they finished their career on a good note in terms of music quality. Dig Out Your Soul and Don't believe the truth were quality albums.
i wouldn't say it's underrated actually. only fans will like this album. it's different and as you said, darker. it's less accessible than their previous albums. well, what i'm trying to say is, this album didn't get them any new fans. but i'm not saying it's a bad album because it got too many great songs like go let it out, gas panic, roll it over...etc.
@kingshahine i think a big reason critics gave it harsh reviews is because of the fact thay they loved be here now when it came out then realized everything that went wrong with it and didnt want the same thing to happen. classic media backlash.
I can only imagine how good this gig must have been.... The Barrowland is a stinking, beautiful, wonderous cesspit of a venue with an unmatchable aura and atmosphere ....To have Oasis, on top form, belt through 20 odd numbers in the old place must have been truly mindblowing!
It is quite fantastical indeed! I love the little continuous backwards guitar bit.
Gas Panic is my favorite from this album because it is just so drastically different and darker from all their other stuff. Next would probably be Where did it all go Wrong, because Noel's vocals are tip top!
f@ck yeah, what a powerful performance. liam's singin its rare here, but amazing as well.

Noel, Oasis. The band Lennon and The Beatles could have been.

actually, it was the opposite. oasis were at the top of their game in 1995-1996. SOTSOG is a good album, but not nearly as good as MG or DM.

okay, we have different opinions.

@Vbgrel
its a severely underrated.
its oasis' darkest album, the party was over, divorce, panic attacks, decline in popularity....
noel calls the album his most personal lyrics

Go let it out is a very overrated song. Gas Panic is better, but I actually think the best song on SOTSOG Is "Who Feels love" thats a great song
