@CROMATICTIC Actually that is a myth of pop academia. As evidenced by the scalp dances scalping was in fact common among Native Americans long before Europeans arrived. Granted Euro & US bounty policies did encourage HOW FREQUENTLY it took place but thats not the same as it originating with Europeans. Bottom line there are good things in EVERY culture & bad things in EVERY culture. Nobody(including Native Americans & other nonwhites)is perfect.

@Patriote17 This is true. Unlike the Spanish and the English. The French were very cooperative with their Indian allies. They respected them and tried to convert them to Christianity. They were not only a tool to use against their enemies.

both french and english introduced into the world the tactics of colonialism with the invation of any of the targeting countries by brutal force, masacre, extermination and violence against natives. you are responsible for millions of deaths around the world. those actions are just belong to different chronological periods for each side. french being the :"good guys" changes nothing on what you have done in indochina......

@Patriote17 both the english (in the start) and the u.s. government (near the end) both participated in the destruction of both innocent native women and children, and their warriorss who tried to keep their lands. and i didn't try to reffer you to your ancestors, but im not saying you should be proud to be their descendant either. i know some history, enough to know all the cruel things colonials and settled invaders did.

its too bad the french king would not defend french canada, i would prefer to speak french my ancestors were from alsace lorraine and i believe they spoke a german dialect of sort but i admire french culture, the english were cruel to the indians and brutal in their conquest of french canada they are a cruel uncultured people and it is a shame they were so good at conquest

Later, when English pirates invaded and briefly captured new France, Brule sided with the pirates and betrayed Champlain. Later Brule went and became a fur trader on his own as a greedy self-profiteer. Eventually he stayed in Huronia and started abusing the women there until the Hurons got fed up and killed his ass. When they told Champlain he did not mind.

Ma vie est belle, je suis heureux en amour, je suis heureux en argent , j'aime ma famille et mes amies et amis, je suis assez sûr de moi (un adulte censé ne doit jamais être sûr de tout à 100% c'est 1 questionde survie et de progrès surtout) pour ne pas avoir peur et détester celles et ceux qui sont différents (il y a des limites malgré tout, toi par ex ;-)), les miens sont tous en bonne santé, il fait super beau dans le sud de la France et je suis en congé ;-)

What a shame for Native Americans to be referred to as "savages." European settlers are guilty of genocide. Instead of painting a realistic picture in history books, the capitalistic colonizers are romanticized.

@blueguitarblue it's a bit more complicated than that, one must keep in mind that in the 1600's "savage" was not as racially charged a term as it became, & that the early settlers felt the same way about their own Celtic, & Germanic ancestors.Speaking as someone of Native American descent white people are not evil incarnate & people of color are not angels. People are people. Are we perfect, no; there's only one perfect person & He was crucified.

@Forysan great comment, I agree with you. Anyways the word "Sauvage" in french mean wild, it mean those who live in the wood, it does not mean crazy enraged person. French coureur des bois lived "une vie sauvage", a savage life. Today "la vie sauvage" is wood, camping, animal, hunting, fishing, ect. "la vie sauvage" is great!

Dommage qu'il ne soit pas en français ce document

Pour les québécois d'abords fiers de leur langue et de son héritage et pour les français ensuite car nous sommes aussi concernés par cette période de l'Histoire non ? (que cela plaise ou pas à certains ^^)

Vue qu'en France on ne nous apprends plus rien sur cette période de "l'Amérique du Nord française" cela aurait été fort utile de le voir si ce n'est en français, au moins sous-titré en français

@cumbas ce documentaire fut traduit en français mais je n'ai pas la version française. Par contre j'ai des vidéos sur l'histoire du Québec en français sur ma page, tu n'as qu'a aller voir. Le déclin de la langue française et la prédominance de l'anglais est malheureusement une conséquence de la mondialisation que tu supportes. Même sur ta page l'anglais passe avant le français. Les États-Unis d'Europe, on dirait que vous vouez un culte aux USA.
