the quality of the playing is so awesome with these guys....right up there with the cream reunion cd i watxched last night.....alkways like watching musicians who can teach me a few things.......great psychedelic solo to boot!
Does anyone wanna learn any meat puppets songs for guitar? I've like pretty much spent the past two years of my life playing them on guitar and figuring out their songs, i was thinking of posting a few vids teaching them, i can play the entire up on the sun album pretty much and many others.
oh go on then, yh i can show ya that one. i'll drop you a message when i get one or two up, cus i need to get a new webcam sorted cus the old ones fucked.
The Album 'Up on the sun' is as close as music has ever got to pure unbridled sunshine. The most colourful album ever made. I'm sure those who love it know what I mean.
I know what you mean. I've heard all of their albums, and my favorites are Up On The Sun, Meat Puppets II and Too High To Die. They all make me feel like a little kid again.
@mrdreamsisasleep i like the "unbridled sunshine" - it's the innocence that can be brought by 'outsiders' to music, although these guys aren't exactly outsiders. they do seem to retain some of the innocence

i can totally hear Pearl Jams style in this! They are clearly inspired by Meat Puppets but i dont know maybe its the other way round... hmmm i really dont know :P
It could be both, if you notice all the music from that era has simlarities, a lot of hendrix influence and zeppelin on the guitars, but they all have there own sound
Pearl Jam, soundgarden, AIC, Nirvana, meat puppets, and a few others. Grunge is just a stupid label.
When someone says "reevalute your life" if you haven't heard the record, thats when i know i need to get down to my local record store. Oh wait, I CANT FIND ONE!!
I noticed that too when I just went to see them in Denver. One of the things I love about albums like Huevos is you can really hear the bass. Just like those old dead albums. Turn it UP!
i saw the bassist recently and told him that my band was covering one of their songs and this is what he said..."thats cool man....don't fuck it up." - hahahaha love them meatpuppets!
*sigh* the problem with amazing "no name" bands is that there are no high quality videos of them on youtube!! which might be why they are still amazing...
It's a WONDER this Recording "Up on the SUN" doesn't burn up any and all equipment we play it on~~~So HOT
