No, there are not actually. I live in the U.S. and alot more trains use different horns than K5LAs now. The Canadian tuned K5H breed used by BC Rail is dead now along with the railroad itself.
speaking of horsepower, funfackt: the machine with the most horsepower on the planet is this european electric train. on a single unit it gets 14,950 hp. At a minimum these trains are loaded with 2000 cars.
thats alot of power, but i have to correct you, the most power of any moving machine i know of is the ship EMMA MAERSK, with 109,000hp, the engine is a Wärtsilä-Sulzer 14RTFLEX96-C weighing 2,300 tons. read up on it, its amazing... Great video also!
I've noticed in a lot of your videos, that the left side (conductors side) ditch lights seem to be brighter than the other side... any ideas as to why?
Actually you'll notice that both sides may seem to be brighter at any time, given the angle of the locomotive (on a curve for example) and the position and angle of the camera. Each side of the 'double ditch lights' are actually angled to shine across to the other side (effectively lighting up the ditch and 'right-of-way' on the opposite side). The reason for the double ditch lights and their acute angle is to light up the endless sharp curves found on BC Rail track. hope that explains it...
HOCKEY STICK is alright!

BC Rail in my opinion was the King of Canadia. Those are the best K5H horns in the world right there.

@NSwannabeEngineer what horns do CN and CP use? may I ask?
imnoobshit 2 years ago
K3LAs and sometimes a stray K5H. K5LLAs. K5HLL. K5HL. Shit like that.

sounds like a K5LA horn, i like them but they are on just about every train in the U.S and Canada nowdays!
aussietraindriver 3 years ago
It's actually a K5H/K5L, the original K5 chord, a minor chord (Canadian tuned) to the K5LA (American tuned)

ya and the mountains too!

That's gotta be some locomotive to pull a train that size at that speed.
volvomantom 4 years ago
ya, easily 25,000+ hp combined with 3 locomotives on the point, and 3 in the middle! 2.2 % grades
ATributeToBCRail 4 years ago
Actually I was referring to another video I have that I will upload sometime. This train only has 2 on the point
