This might honestly be the most uniquely fantastic song I've ever heard. It incorporates elements of so many different kinds of music, from the synth to the double bass to the layered vocals, and the part where Dan and Alan harmonize with Josh's screaming is so incredibly cool. This song just quite simply has traits that almost no other songs contain.

a day to remember is more hardcore because they play in Drop C tuning, that's 2 frets deeper then Drop D tuning, Four year strong plays in Drop D tuning.

It's closer than saying like.. Justin Bieber or some shit. FYS is probably the closest you could get to the sound of ADTR. Not many bands have that kind of sound. Very unique bands. Love em' both.

It's not close to pop-punk. Pop-punk is up-beat and happy, and usually never involves screaming like they do in ADTR. Post-Hardcore uses elements from pop-punk, like some up beat vocals here and there, but it mostly focuses on the Hardcore aspect, hence the name.

They both toured in the International Heroes of Hardcore tour, and both opened for New Found Glory. However, ADTR got much more attention and fanbase as the tour went on, and they as well as the tour organizers asked FYS to open for ADTR. They refused, and so began an angry rivalry between the two bands. ADTR's song 2nd sucks is about FYS, and Paul Revere's Midnight Ride is about ADTR :/

@GrantxLeach dan oconnor (guitar/vox) from fys had a brief stint in byd, in 2003. he was in fys at the time, but they didn't get really serious until about 2004.
actually the technical genre for FYS is classified as easycore, hardcore riiffs with Poppunky singing, it cant be classified as post hardcore because the majority of their song have no screaming
@AndyTrickk post-hardcore doesn't require screaming. like emarosa - almost no screaming. it just mean "heavily influenced by hardcore," which fys is. they're a blend of melodic hardcore and pop punk, with heavy undertones of metalcore. the heavy undertones could make them be considered post-hardcore. easycore is honestly just some word new found glory made up for a tour, and its stuck to most of the bands that were on it, who shared a similar hardcore/pop punk blend sound.

@MrDonkeydong155 i don't want them to. actually, i hate the terms 'beardcore' or 'four beard strong' because they are incredibly over-used. don't get me wrong, they're extremely clever- if you're the person who thought it up. now its just kind of annoying. four year strong should never change their name!

a day to remember is more hardcore because they play in Drop C tuning, that's 2 frets deeper then Drop D tuning, Four year strong plays in Drop D tuning.

@metaltilim60 Yeah you are right. ADTR has more heavier songs than FYS, but not because of the tuning, Check out As the Palaces Burn or Ashes of the Wake by Lamb of God, IMO(may not be yours! haha) is a lot heavier sounding than ADTR, but then again that's just my opinion!

@DopeSick408 A Day To Remember and Four Year Strong DO sound a lot alike. They don't sound exactly alike, but if someone asked me, "Hey, what's a band that sounds like ADTR?" I'm gonna say FYS. It's closer than saying like.. Justin Bieber or some shit. FYS is probably the closest you could get to the sound of ADTR. Not many bands have that kind of sound. Very unique bands. Love em' both.

@BattlingPancake What are you on about... they sound nothing alike. FYS are Pop Punk/Hardcore, ADTR are Pop-core wannabes. Do you hear FYS using scream vocals? Granted they use it in 2 or 3 songs, but it's not to the excess of ADTR. FYS keep it fresh whereas ADTR regurgitate the same whiney crappy songs. I used to be a huge fan of ADTR, but they're utterly shit now. They lost it after 'Homesick' - FYS are unique and still keep it fresh for me, they can't be compared to ANY band.

And ADTR is Post-Hardcore which is basically a hardcore punk type band with some screamo. And what do you mean they lost it after Homesick? That was their last album. Their newest one is pretty good anyways. And what do you mean by they regurgitate the same whiny songs? That's called a genre, you tard. Bands are supposed to have to same sound to all their songs.

@cocozimme3 No, they definitly aren't. The wonder years is pop-punk. FYS is pop-punk. ADTR is most definitly not pop-punk. Look on their facebook. It says Hardcore, indie for the genre. It's not close to pop-punk. Pop-punk is up-beat and happy, and usually never involves screaming like they do in ADTR. Post-Hardcore uses elements from pop-punk, like some up beat vocals here and there, but it mostly focuses on the Hardcore aspect, hence the name.
Ask anyone, they are not pop-punk.

@MichealZero1 No, see..... Melodic Hardcore sounds like The Ghost Inside. This is CLEARLY Pop-Punk, happy lyrics up beat tones are primarily Pop-Punk. And Metal core is a myth, ADTR is not even close to "Metalcore" There's pop-punk aspects, hardcore aspects but NO metalcore. Post-Hardcore is a fuse between Pop-Punk and Hardcore, but FYS is not even CLOSE to "Metalcore".

Which means they still have Hardcore influences, but have some modern/contemporary influences as well. I don't listen to them anymore, cause they kinda sold their soul to the devil by playing more crowd pleasing material. Back when they were a true hardcore band, they were better.

atleast musicly they sound pretty similar, and lyrical themes are similar, just the vocals have different sounds

@justyn3tears yes, ADTR and FYS would be amazing, and my dream show. Just one problem, they HATE each other. They both toured in the International Heroes of Hardcore tour, and both opened for New Found Glory. However, ADTR got much more attention and fanbase as the tour went on, and they as well as the tour organizers asked FYS to open for ADTR. They refused, and so began an angry rivalry between the two bands. ADTR's song 2nd sucks is about FYS, and Paul Revere's Midnight Ride is about ADTR :/

@GrantxLeach dan oconnor (guitar/vox) from fys had a brief stint in byd, in 2003. he was in fys at the time, but they didn't get really serious until about 2004.

actually the technical genre for FYS is classified as easycore, hardcore riiffs with Poppunky singing, it cant be classified as post hardcore because the majority of their song have no screaming

@AndyTrickk post-hardcore doesn't require screaming. like emarosa - almost no screaming. it just mean "heavily influenced by hardcore," which fys is. they're a blend of melodic hardcore and pop punk, with heavy undertones of metalcore. the heavy undertones could make them be considered post-hardcore. easycore is honestly just some word new found glory made up for a tour, and its stuck to most of the bands that were on it, who shared a similar hardcore/pop punk blend sound.
