I just recently finished Season 3 and I absolutely LOVED it!!! :-D In my opinion, it was SO MUCH better than the first two seasons! I remember watching the first two seasons and not really seeing any of what I enjoyed about the show, but, come Season 3, I watched it and said to myself, "Okay...THIS is the Melrose Place I know and love!" :-)

On another note, now I can answer those questions that Jerry was given by the cop in that episode of "Seinfeld". lol :-D Before I had no clue. hehe

It was a mixture of both. It was on once a week like the new one but the storylines were so over the top that you could call it a "primetime soap" (like DH).

For my money: the best looking cast in the 90s for TV, competing with the middle seasons of Baywatch.

Melrose Place was one of the greatest tv shows of the 90's - much better than overrated Beverly Hills 90210! Alison (Courtney Thorne-Smith) and Jake (Grant Show) were my 2 favorite characters from start to finish. I still can't believe they didn't get together.

Sydney (Laura Leighton) deserved much better ending - such a cuttie character.

Brilliant Michael (Thomas Calabro) should have been with Megan (Kelly Rutherford)

Because Heather was a big star back at the time and she was the featured headliner of the show that's why they called her a "special" guest star. And if i'm not mistaken, she wasn't an original cast member. When she was added to the show, I don't think her character Amanda was intended to be permanent but Heather drew such high ratings that they added her to the cast. That's actually the main reason for the title "special guest star".
