I don't watch Letterman, so I didn't know about this. This year's performance was my first viewing. What a wonderful tradition! Thanks, seaview, and thanks to all the people @ the Letterman show who make this production happen every year! Merry Christmas!
Good job, love to see as many years as we all have starting with 1986 in sequence. Sorry, Darlene as the weight went on & came off (like us all)...but that aside YOU ARE A TREASURE! My wife & I 6 years ago traveled to NJ from Maine to see your show although Little Anthony was the supposed headliner.
One of the most amazing female voices in the history of rock music. Who could possibly forget "He's a Rebel", "He's Sure the Boy I Love", "Marshmallow World", Darlene's version of "White Christmas", and my personal favorite, the gorgeous "Today I Met the Boy I'm Gonna Marry"? Her voice personified Spector's Wall of Sound and her induction into the Hall of Fame is LONG overdue. I remain a devoted fan nearly 50 years after I first heard her on my transistor radio!
She has a remarkable, soulful, powerful voice, even after all these years -- she could and should have been a much bigger star than she was, and would surely have been, had Phil Spector and his giant shiny ego not destroyed her career.
I'll come by sometime, well in advance of Christmas, and deliver these postings to "Santa" myself. Hopefully this will contribute to the demand for a full-length Darlene Love concert on "The Late Show" for Christmas 2010.
If you agree that Darlene Love has earned the privilege of performing a special, one-hour concert on '"The Late Show With David Letterman," by virtue of having sung "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" for 24 consecutive years, then simply copy & paste (f you can't think of anything more original to write)-- "Please Santa, bring Darlene Love an hour-long concert on 'The Late Show With David Letterman' on CBS, for Christmas 2010.'"
Next year is the 25th anniversary of "Love Comes To Letterman," and I'm hoping that occasion will spur some uploading of NBC episodes here, as well a special concert by Darlene Love on the Letterman program next Christmas season. Darlene Love has earned a full show for Christmas 2010!
I would love to watch them all from 1985 on, but none of the NBC years are uploaded, presumably because no one had the foresight to record them in those years.
But one would think some people would have recorded one or two of them from 1985-93.(1993 is the first year uploaded on Tube.), as many people had VCRs by '85.
Hi "seaviewpetition" (Is this to do with "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Seas?").
Anyway, I had also recorded all the annual, Darlene Love Christmas performances on Ketterman's show and one year merged them on one VHS tape to show my family.
I recorded all of them from 1995 on, but then missed one year and again in 2008 (which I see is uploaded here on Tube).
@markthomas77 I'd have to read instructions on how to upload video. But, beyond that, I don't want to risk getting bumped off You Tube (and thereby have my account closed, have to go through hassle of creating a new account and associating it with another e-mail account) for uploading copyrighted material, which Letterman's show clearly is.
@markthomas77@markthomas77 It's one thing to record off Web or TV for one's own, personal use, but quite another to upload protected material if one has no legitimate claim of right to do so.
If you send me a private message, Mark, maybe I can figure out some way to get you those Darlene Love performances on a private basis.
Darlene Love is simply amazing. Her vocal ability is tremendous. Just love it to death.
Song on Sister. Peace.

P.S. The 2000 version of this is the best.

I humbug Christmas, except for this. Spector's Christmas album is
the best ever. Darlene brings back memories of Christmas before
Black Friday, and inflatable lawn ornaments. Baby, please come home

The voice remains the same because she's been lip syncing it since 1995....

Congrats to Darlene for her induction into the Hall of Fame "Class of '11!"
One of the high points of my life was getting to work with Darlene in the early '80's.

Excuse me.
That was supposed to read--"Letterman's show."

@gymnastix That's fantastic...do you still have any of those around...why don't you post them :-)

@markthomas77 I do, but most all of them are here on You Tube now anyway.
Also, I have never uploaded any video to the Web. I only come here to You Tube to watch and download videos, but have never uploaded.
