Commerical Diving Academy is the best way to learn underwater construction just saying there is barely any underwater welding done in Commerical Diving js.
@UNAFORM NEGATIVE! Please if you read this comment please dont listen! If you want to know underwater welding go to Young Memorial. You get certified, get a job, and then when you break out and want or have an interest in underwater welding THE COMPANY WILL TRAIN AND PAY YOU! dont spend thousand to do something a company will pay and train you to do anyways.
@CanadianWorkDivers so employment prospects in this field arent good? everything ive read says its a good field and is only projected to get better...popular mechanics lists it in the top ten most "future proof" jobs...how do you know that your just not in the right area of commercial diving? im not bein a dick im just askin
@bstraws88 The stats have been the same since I went to school. What they don't tell you is how competitive the industry is. In Ontario for instance, there are only around 100 full time divers, however there are two of the best schools in the world here churning out baby divers a couple times a year. My boss gets 2 or 3 resumes a day, sometimes more. As far as offshore work is concerned, if you don't have about 5 years experience, be prepared to work as a tender for 5 to 7 years.
@bstraws88 Offshore is so hurt right now from BP and Obama that if you want work you really have to want it. if you want the job you will get it, and if you are worth something youll get called back more often. and right now the field is so saturated with these puppy mill tender/divers that dive co. have such a hard time sifting through them. but some good news if that the puppy mills are hurting there students more than they think cause they dont teach them jack about the "real" Gulf Of Mexico.
@bstraws88 Or even the real world of diving for that matter. i know the owner of a dive co. in jersey cause i went to school with his son and he wont hire divers from the big privet schools anymore because they are such a poor quality of student. i feel bad for them, i keep telling people to go to young memorial in louisiana cause its cheap, a good education cause its 2 GOM divers teaching you real world and not navy divers teaching you what they think it is. No offense but they have no idea.

@CanadianWorkDivers well isnt it true if you work hard and establish your name, then you could break out and be diving in 2 years or less?

@bstraws88 i dont know if its less but yes if you go out and kick some serious ass you can break out a lot faster than most people.
