What an ass. Can't do anything but put on his own act to stroke his own ego. Stones were a sellout band that never did squat after Exile on Mainstreet. The one thing that ZZ holds in common with the Stones is, they both 'sold out'. ZZ Top less so for sure....but the Stones went from a great band to intolerable nearly overnight after Exile. You can go overboard with showbiz over substance in that game and the stones took that to the limit. There are two Rolling Stones. The latter sucks, bad.
can you hear the guy/guys shouting 'I love you Keith!' at the beginning. :) I hope the Rolling Stones tour in 2012. Can't wait to see Keith perform. He is an amazing character.
Here's proof that a life of sex , drugs, booze and r & r will catch up to you. Still think he's great, but shouldn't be public speaking, esp when he's high. I know, it's only rock and roll, but I like it.
keef should hang his boots up!! He has had his time, he did good!! To me, now, he is a bit embarrassing, a bit of an old, out of touch, dickhead! Rolling Stones are as vital to the music scene as the sony walkman!! Out dated, dull, boring, fuckin rubbish!! Move on to the grave yard old man!
@coltsuperocean10 Looks and acts like bloody Benny HiLL. Great character ,shouldn't believe his own crap though. And while were at it...stop rasping about his own "jokes'.
@coltsuperocean10 shut up. the stones are planning another world tour for there 50th year being a band. think you can do any better? you're just jealous because of there fame and fortune.
@ 2.10 he looks like a little John Cleese, for a second, or it could be Neil from the Young Ones or it could Tommy Cooper, but no I think it is Cleese...
''keithism''- when introduced by mick during their last tour in oakland, keith walks up to the mic' and sez..'' its great to be here, but then again, its great to be anywhere..'' keith....funny shit
Well, that's what ya get for having Keith give an induction speech when he forgot his notes. LOL! Keith's great! I'll tell ya. I wish the Rock Hall still gave respect to the bands that deserve it. They've left out groups like Thin Lizzy, KISS, .38 Special, Ted Nugent, Steve Miller Band, etc.
@reptilicus Obviously you have no idea how many other artists they've influenced, and what impact they've made on music. Especially KISS! They brought stage shows to a whole new level! Granted Alice Cooper started the rock theatrics, but KISS still has always been over the top, phenominal stage shows!
@RHMETAL very surprised Kiss not in, and Steve Miller. if the hall of fame were a European thing then Thin Lizzy would def have got in and by the same token we would be asking where are The Smiths, Oasis, Blur, New Order etc etc etc It is all v subjective, but The Stones100% have to be in it.
@vixenmusique-It was simply serendipity. Too young to have had an agenda other than catching those shows in Paradise, and getting to know my new buds Dusty, Frank & Mr. Gibbons, whom I'd instantly idolized after a week of the ZZ debut. Billy even gave me a black Stetson to wear on the beach, w/the admonition "Just take off that Ace of Spades on the front before you walk into a bar in Texas. Means you can kick the ass of any man in the place." I wisely returned it before leaving for the Mainland.
I wonder if Keef remembers that an unknown ZZ Top opened 4-5 shows for the Stones in Honolulu in 1973. I was working in a Record Store in LA and their first LP had just dropped a week earlier. When I complimented them in the lobby they had no idea it was even released. Spent a few days driving 'em around and they gave me their passes to the post-show Stones parties because (I suspect) they were too modest to attend. Truly Good Ol' Boys who can still out blues any American band to this day!
@WCScenario1 - Love your story of hanging with the Stones. Lucky you - or should that be - smart you for knowing what to do when you had the opportunity.
@WCScenario1 ZZ Top's THIRD album came out in '73 (Tres Hombres), their first album (called, creatively,ZZ Top's First Album!) came out in Jan. '71 - but they were relatively unknown 'till that third one with La Grange and Waiting for the Bus/Jesus on it.
"I'm steeped in several other things as well"...I'll bet, that night, those "several other things" were nine grams of weed, three grams of 'shrooms, and one bottle of Jack Daniels. You know, the chill shit.
I'm impressed he's still capable of getting that fucked up. Good on him. :)
Keith is off his face, ain't he always? Still he keeps his sh*t together tho. In his own words he's steeped in the blues & other stuff too. Long Live the Legend.
what a shame. disrespectful.
