The people posting that nonsense about Pete Rock > Dilla and vice vesra are totally missing the point. They were on the same team. They BOTH admitted that they inspired each other, they were kindred spirits. If you prefer one over the other then that's just your bias, not some quantifiable fact. So knock that dumb shit off.
@neffone77 word. Ma Dukes even chose Pete to master Dilla's 'Jay $tay paid'. cohorts. although Dilla's my personal fave, you can't knock Pete's catalouge. endless classics.
cerebral cortex dwindling, my last joint getting low, hollow thoughts following, whereever petes beats go, haunting me, twisting me, stagnating feelin me?? death in cold pause, no end or beginning...a following crisp denial of the why, music's death impowers those who have begun to decline....
GURL, YOU GOT THAT THANG SUMTHIN WITHOUT A NAME MAKE MA HEART GO BANG GOES IN MA HEART THEN IN MA BRAIN AND OUT THROUGH MA ACTIONS WHAT I DO FA LOVE? GO THROUGH ALL LENGTHS LIKE A MAN ON DRUGS JUST TO GET A HIT OF YA LOVE IM SO ADDICTED TO THE GOD IN U THAT I'LL QUIT SMOKIN IF U WAnt me 2

Brand new/ feelin great/ like a baby with a clean slate/ no hate/ one love/ is God watchin from above? / to create wats real and beloved/ when I was a kid I use to dream of/ all beautiful people sellin their souls to the sequel/ they realize that this paradise wasnt equal/ cuz stereotypical males were told to prevail/ I once knew a kid who read Braille/ who told me to live long and live strong/ cuz life is so frail.
sick track from Pete Rock yo people check out my beats though and let me know what you think... music str8 from the heart and the soul i even got a beat tape up
Pete Rock makes the best beats, no doubt. He tries to record almost every sample himself so he gets exactly the sound he wants, and he comes up with the goods every single time.
Sometimes they're the most basic of rhythms, but they move your soul like nothing else can. Pete Rock is the man.
click the link for this one/ on this particular beat/ i think of the particular street/ where my family sleeps/ and how these fools creep/ to release the heat/ on other straight lows/they must not know/ the bullets they throw/ fly right by- my window/ nothing to do/ but wait it through/ dont even know if my familys cool / just in case you thought you knew/just what l.a can do/ just dropped a clue/ props to the heemhead crew
You hit that spot on, especially with those producers.
I mean 1st im praising one the most and saying "yeah, hes def the best"...then "OH WAIT...wait a minute".
i just want a list of EVERY beat created by Pete Rock, Premo, Madlib, 9th, andf Dilla, and have it on shuffle ALL day/night long. and others like Reflection Eternal, Foreign Exchange, Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots and all the rest can be thrown in too.
HoldUp..thats what an iPod is for, why the hell havent i done that lately?
@delltardboy yes he really was, when dilla met pete rock the first thing he said was '' i was tryin to be like you" or somethin like that i'm not jokin
@immasuperninja I agree that Pete was an inspiration for Dilla but Dilla and him went different styles and sound nothing alike. Two great producers with much different styles. Like comparing 2Pac & Big, Bird & Magic, Kobe & Shaq, Big L & Big Pun. Both are absolute legends but both have much different styles and sounds about their music.
@kanyewestpowerman So your saying Dilla doesnt have bass heavy smooth soul vibes? Yeah its his style, but you can here PR influence. Like in early 9th beats, you can hear Dilla influence. Later on he developed his trademark style. And his style is what alot of todays up and coming producers are influenced by. Its a generation thing.
from mount vernon - to money earnin - i keep the ladies yearnin - got a thing for latinas - from 175th all the way out to medina - in brooklyn - front and get ya body tooken - or taken - in the land of the forsaken - the forgotten - try not to let my soul become rotten - but there's no stoppin when you fallin down the slope - into the East River - sub zero it make ya body shiver and quiver - i deliver
Love it! Imagine a good video concept.A kid walking through the park in NY or walking along a river and suddenly a sail boat appears out of no where to take him on a journey through a magical space in time.He is like transcended into heaven looking over wonders never seen before.
i was thnking more like a cold day and the little boys breath as he breathes tells the story im rapping as the world slows to a halt with the songs end
