I know I'm the minority here, but I think that Carter should have been with Abby Keaton instead, they seemed really great together. That, or Lucy, or Roxxane. I didn't really like him with Kem.
Hell yeah, this all should have happened with Abby. Except of the miscarriage, of course. How perfectly they built the relationship of Carter and Abby and how easily they ruined it. Never got over it for the rest of ER.
it has absolutely nothing to fckin do with race, get over it you silly american people who always want to play the "its because race"card! kem is annyoing, this perfect, smarty skinny lady over chubby, funny, weird abby, i liked Carby because it was more original than carter ending up with this sophisticated french bitch that could speak two languages and has this stupid perfect veggie looking hippie look! Carby = uberCUTE and yes carter is my favorite but that has nothing to do with it
This moment truly breaks my heart - as a woman I CAN imagine the pain and horror and just plain sadness that would fill me if I had to accept that my baby who'd I'd carried for months almost to term and loved so much was now dead inside the womb. The fact that they had to endure the birth of a child they already knew was dead. Whew! I really appreciate both performances because some women do end up not coming back from that. Marriages break up over the loss of a child.
My god poor Carter. He gets stabbed, loses a friend and love interest, gets addicted to pain meds, goes to rehab and then his son is stillborn. He just can't catch a break
Throughout season's 1-9 of ER, Carter always seem's just "okay" He was never satisfied with any other girl, and here with Kem you can clearly tell Carter is finally happy, and he has finally found 'her' (Kem). They make the most lovely couple and are so deeply in love with each other.
Loved Carter and Kem together, this was such a hearthbreaking scene. Noah and Thandie were amazing, it was as if this was really happening. It was hard to believe they were acting. I really dont understand some of the hatred on here for Kem by the Carby fans. Carter had alot of girlfriends in his time on ER and it just seems so strange that it's the black one that gets all this hatred. maybe its not her colour, maybe its because she is the love of his life, his wife & mother of his son, maybe.
Maybe it's just possible for people to dislike Kem because of her personality, not her race. I don't like her because she started dating Carter, and she wasn't even planning on staying with him, she went back to Africa. That's not very good commitment. I think he should have been with someone who would commit to him.
Well there was nothing wrong with her personality, she was loving and fun loving. She went back to Africa because she had a job there and that was always the plan even with the baby. Actually having a baby with the man you love, agreeing to have the baby in America to please that man even though you are African/French says good commitment to me. When you go into relationships, there are no guarantee that they will work out, some do some dont, nothing to do with commitment.
I never liked these two together (I'm a Carby fan) but this episode was really touching. The actors did a great job and it really made you feel sad for them, even if they were just fictional characters.
I can't even fathom this....having a baby, only to know that they don't yell "It's a boy!/girl!"...only knowing that the life is gone, so fucking sad man.
This whole episode is so hard to watch, it was truly heartbreaking and the actors were both exceptional. I happen to think that kem and Carter made a lovely couple and i agree that you could dislike a character regardless of race but i must say i agree with xRunnyBabbitx, that race is coming into play here a little bit, that you dislike Kem because she's the African girl Carter fell in love with and got pregnant when this should all be with Abby.
@ellajackson wtf? I'm Black AND French and I HATE Kem. It's not a problem of race. Kem was a fucking Mary Sue McBoring. Annoying as hell. That scene was sad and well played though.
Why not!!! They made a better couple than that drunk Abbey!!! There love was so uncomplicated and it was a real shame that they lost the baby. It always seems like people hate it if there favorite lead hooks up with someone of a different race
Very emontial for me...just recently lost a baby and when i had lost her i thought of this scence. i love er simple people can relate to it. thank you for posting this one

Definitely one of the saddest moments of ER. I cry every time I see this. :'( And it truly shows that Noah is such a great actor.

Watching this, it's hard to believe that this is a fictional TV show and these people are just acting out a scene. Noah Whyle (sp?) is phenomenal.

Abby was chubby? Maura Tierney has always had a fit trained body. Look at the great features in her face.

Yes. Because the main reason izzyanddennyfan doesn't like her is because of the race problem.
Have you ever notice someone can say one comment and it can be made into a racist one? What happened to just not liking someone?
If anything, you're racist for jumping to that conclusion.
