  • Toward the end this vid stuttered and then started at the beginning. I guess this song was so epic youtube had to replay it for me :D.

  • I'VE EVER SAID THAT IN OUR METAL MUSIC WE EVER FIND A STYLE FOR EVERY FEELING, FOR EVERY SITUATION... anger, sadness, happiness, optimism, or whatever...

BUT I FINALLY FOUND A STYLE FOR FUCK =D ooh that sax! xD masterpieces

  • you can really hear how much he matured, the music and lyrics are much deeper then what he did with emperor, i can really feel that this music is him. his soul essence in the 7 tone cage.

  • Damnit Ihsahn, I bought the album just so I could finally see the lyrics, and there's no freaking lyrics.

  • Great album

  • A Bon Jovi intro but definitely not a BJ tune. Maybe a tune to get a BJ to, mind you ;) ;)

  • Listening to this, I want to cry.

  • I just bought this album last week, and I love it. One of my favorite things about this album is that even though the saxophone is nearly unheard of in todays music, especially in black metal, it's not a gimmick. The saxophone is treated with respect, and used well. The leitmotif really ties the album together.

  • ihsahn es un genio

  • Ishahn has influenced my musicianship ever since I first Emperor, and this takes it to a new level. I am never dissapointed

  • why its fuckin slow, I5san , good one anyway

  • I think he's the most innovative artist of this genre -if this record qualifies for any particular genre :)- . Mixing black metal with saxophones , fretless basses and ambient / atmospheric parts is quite a brave attempt to say the least........I really really like this record for the amount of talent it oozes.

  • Seeing Ihsahn at Bloodstock, so fucking excited!

  • i think shining is the band of the saxophone player

  • "Like glass until it breaks...."

Such beautiful, heartfelt, INTENSE music. Ihsahn has accomplished what he's been working towards for the last few years. I love Emperor, but it in NO way compares to this music. I fucking love it!

    Modern day classical, right here.

  • I love the way he sings on this. More melodic and emotive than in his Emperor days where his clean vocals where more of power metal roar. Beautiful stuff.

  • I think it´s very good.. Some new elements and the final mix sounds great. Utrolig.

  • anyone else hear it's my life by bon jovi at the beginning? that being said, kickass song!!

  • @TheHuggles09 Commenting about Bon Jovi? on an Ihshan track, Blasphemer! lol :-)

  • Now, I never use the word 'masterpiece' to describe a song as I believe it's overused these days, but I think this song needs to be called it. Ihsahn is a musical genius and this song is indeed a masterpiece. I

  • thumbs up if you think that 4.16 part it's one of the most beautifull things you have ever heard in your whole life

  • @mak666fuck I think the part at 7:30 is actually the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, but the entire song is goddamn awesome

  • Haha, i clicked this video thinking it was gonna be Trance.. and suddenly my ears were filled with glorious metal!!! Love it!

  • Ihsahn's solo albums are amazing, and this one is insane. I love the saxophone work; it's so different than what everybody else is doing but it works so well and adds so much. And yes, this should have a million views.

  • One word to describe this: EPIC!

Love the use of the sax too.

  • ihsahn is a genius, very innovative and creative. all i get to hear in the states is lady gaga and kesha, luckily ihsahn and bands like emperor and wolves in the throne room give me some good stuff

  • A fantastic song spanning a fantastic album.

  • This is perhaps the best song that Ihsahn has penned since he ended the mighty Emperor. Fantastic. It's easily the album he has made since Emperor. That's for sure.

  • @Watchmaker9 Call me a fucking heretic, if you want, but in my own personal opinion, After is better then any Emperor album.

    Here come the haters.

  • @Vladekanon Well it's a different genre, but I do prefer this.

    I still love Emperor though.

  • @metalheadman666 Oh, don't get me wrong, I love Emperor too. Just that I prefer this.

  • This is not Emperor, this is only Ihsahn

  • @Vladekanon I'm with you. Ihsahn has only learned more about music since Emperor....

  • @mrtonykicks I would say that the last emperor album is like this album musically in many ways, but this album definately blows that out the water. In my opinion this is one of the best albums ever made, by one of the best musicians in Metal.

  • @joe15rock Ihsahn is definitely one of the best musicians in metal; but Prometheus is far more musically advanced than this album. Ihsahn's solo albums i think are much more personal to him, while the whole of Emperor was a grand artistic statement; with Prometheus being his crowning achievement.

  • @xanthofficial Everyone seems to have a different opinion on the matter. This black metal website says their first demos and albums are the best, others will say that that Promethus is awesome (my feelings), and others will say that his solo albums are his magnum opi.

  • @h3rsh3y94 i'll tell you my opinion. i think ALL ihsahn's musical efforts are amazing. that includes all four emperor albums and all 3 of his solo albums. he's in a special class for me.

  • @Vladekanon I / we agree

  • This is amazing!! he sounds different in every record!! so original!

  • no description available? it should be this song just plain kicks ass.

  • That saxophone makes me tingly inside.

  • @noordwinter the songs On The Shores and The Barren Lands from the same album is even greater!!

  • love the album after. the songs "On the Shores", "Undercurrent" and "The Barren Lands" are insane!!

  • At least he writes Post Rock Songs.... this is really pitiable.

  • One of the most beautifully written and performed songs I have had the priviledge of listening to. I have been a fan of Ihsahn's work for over a decade, but he is truly at the apex of his talent on this album. Not to downplay his other work, but everything comes together so well on this one. Too bad there are no lyrics available...

  • @vtwitch metal-archives . com

Most of metals lyrics can be found there.

    Stay brutal man.

  • @mbloome Brutality always, brother.

  • I absolutely adore this song... so well done

  • what's up with the windows warning sound right after he says "mirror", around the 1:26 mark?

  • @oddmanero could be an audio water mark,i had an advance leaked copy with the same sound

  • Masterpiece

  • Is it just me, or at around 1:25, is there a faint Windows beep/chirp sound, the "exclamation" one? haha. This song is one of my faves off the album, btw.

  • @deadhektor haha, it does sound like it. like if you finished downloading something.

  • @deadhektor Yeah, what the hell is with that?

  • @deadhektor I've thought this for the longest. It's even made me double check my computer if I'm listening to it while browsing or some such. Great album. Great song.

  • @deadhektor Ha! I heard it.

  • @deadhektor evry time i come across the 1:25 in the way to work , i look for my laptop

  • @deadhektor Fuck and I thought it was me...

  • @deadhektor LOL oh man..I noticed this too around a year ago, but never bothered to look it up to see if it was just my cd or if it was everyones. But yeah, Ihsahn uses windows? lmao :)

  • how does this song not have a million views? this is one of the best artists i've ever come across in metal.

a one man wrecking machine, if you will.

  • @uloveme2nv No clue, it definitely should though. This album is simply a masterpiece and far more people need to check it out regardless of their specific musical preference, you should check out his angL album too, its pretty good but not quite on this level.

  • @FunnyTwistedGuy i have angL as well, but haven't had much of a listen to it. once i came across this there was really no turning back. it's genius.

  • @FunnyTwistedGuy i have angL as well, but haven't had much of a listen to it. once i came across this there was really no turning back. it's genius.

  • @FunnyTwistedGuy This album is tied for my 1st place with cynics" traced in air", the juxtaposition is astounding and in that regard i feel that they are of two concepts of the same philosophy, however, they are at different ends of the spectrum if you will, but still joined together no matter what that distance may be.

  • @FunnyTwistedGuy there is something called "gaussian distribution" that can very well be applied in this case. Something extremely crappy has very little views, your average crap has the most views, and excellent material has also very little views. The masses can keep their crap, you be glad there are still jewels like this song out-there!

  • @uloveme2nv mainstream musiclisteners gave Lady Gaga 200 000 000 views or so. sad to see that bands like Opeth dont become more popular when it might be the best band in the world. forexample the song Ghost of Perdition.

  • @uloveme2nv

    HELL YEAH !!!
