however hm55 is actually a downgrade version of h55 southbridge. like nehalem family they integrated north bridge and pcie controller inside the processor and they adapt on ddr3 rather than low latency ddr2...plus gpu die pack beside of processor die in the same package..
@opelolaf Intel has turned off the port multiplier function on all their ICH chipsets. So I am almost certain if the eSATA port is tied to the Intel chipset then it won't support port multiplier. The only chance of port multiplier support with be with a JMicron, Silicon Image, or Marvell chipset. At this time, there was no information on the website about which chipset has be used.
Thanks for reply, I forgot about this motherboard.
I hope it will be reasonably priced for mid-range system, may be I would have preferred low power core i3 CPU instead. Asrock should not forget to add 5.8Ghz Wireless N card not some cheapo 2.4. I don't see any intake air fan holes.
Looks like a super mini-mac. Good stuff. I do think that they should have kept the front clean with just a BD drive and moved the card reader and front panel stuff to the side
its a fat laptop -.-

@martinhiebert You can use a usb tv tuner.
urendanger 1 year ago
@urendanger yes you are right - but if asrock is selling this as a htpc it should have a tuner in it already

will the eSATAII port support port multiplier function?
equallywrong 1 year ago
@equallywrong: this is important for me too.. but since the board got the h57 chipset, it seems port multiplying will be supported..

where's the hard drive?
hoang352 1 year ago
@hoang352 The hard drive is often placed above the motherboard, so they take it away to make you see inside clearly:P
