He is good but not great. He has dedication and technique but I feel he can improve his presence from a mere dance machine to a soulful dancer. I sense a disconnect with the spirit of the narration and a focus merely on the technicalities. It sounds rude of me, I know, but I think he will be helped by this. I got the feeling of 'aerobics' more than a religious temple theme.
Just my view, sorry if it sounds harsh but no use giving useless and misleading praise, is there?
I don't know you, nor you, me. I'm not a dancer, but believe have a good eye for art. This is by far the best male dancer in Bharatanatyam. I would love to see more youtube clips/dances. Especially a Rudra Shiva Taandavam... you'd probably rock it!
Thanks a ton Rohit..but This video is very old..nearly three years old when i was in college.....I think my abhinaya's got better:):)yups working very hard on my it..taking classes with the best in chennai:))) hope to see you in the season:)
I am somebody who is also into 'Bharathanatyam' and learning along the way. I find charles with a lot of energy and also see a lot of hard-work in his craft, If i could add something constructively, well the first thing being letting go of certain of his rigidity and a lot of work on the 'abinaya' aspect, i wonder if none of his gurus mentioned the missing link! hope this was not rude or intrusive! Rohith Iyer (chennai) India.
Wonderful dance, so mesmerizing and beautiful. This is how a male dancer should dance, like a male...not like most of them with " Komalangi" style...total Drag. May Lord Shiva bless you and keep you well. Om Nama Shivaya.
Thanks saharshan..i know this is a veryyy old video.!.when i was in college..dance is different at different ages ..im sure you know that...very true..I agree..about something missing:))) it was the joy of dance, some of my friends still dance like this..just movement and technique..everyone told me that..but i have worked on that aspect for the past three years. see the other video its a recent one...with more abhinaya:) hope you like it:)
yap..good dancer ...but he need to go more...coz the adavu finishing when ever he doing posess somthing is missing and the expression is also less a bharathanattyam dancer must hav nice expression ...try to do some expressive items ..and be better and also sm gymnastics cming inbetween ...............all the very best 4 ur future
